Being from Hartlepool it would surely be no surprise to find out that both of us may have ancestors whose address was c/o Holdforth Road.

Actually, I got absorbed into doing my family tree and my great grandfather died in Howbeck which was on the General site and he had dementia in the 1930’s.

A common reason why folk ended-up in places such as the workhouse or Winterton back in the day was syphilis.

Might explain why many Pools' performances over the years were subject to a slow-hand clap...

When I was working in the far north of Scotland a fella on the site could get you a Student Rail Card enabling you got reduced fares on the train, the ticket collector did comment to some they looked old to be a student.
