Chants of "Bring back Askey" are heard from the NWC.

Oxford fans (all 8 of them) are heard singing "We're winning away. We're winning away. How shit must you be, we're winning away".

But then Pools score 4 to nick a point from a very unpromising position.

Danny the physio steps up as manager because Sweens really doesn't fancy it. Manni O gets sent off in the third minute for cropping their center forward who's clean through after a miss hit Oxford lob over the top. They score from the penalty. About 5 minutes later I get the live stream up and running (although it's not actually live - it's 5 minutes behind - so I already know Oxford have scored from checking facebook. Bastards).

Down to ten men Danny Tells Featherstone to drop back. Featherstone likes this and starts pinging sideways and backwards balls all over the place. A couple of them land at Fergusons feet (because he's waving, shouting and pointing and stuff) . One he literally trips over, the other just tamely goes under his foot and out of play.

Danny goes "F'ck this - you're shit Fergusson give the armband to the French bloke with the dodgy hamstring!".

Buoyed by his promotion Anthony Mancini runs Oxford ragged scoring two himself and then setting one up that even the newly recalled Chris Wreh can't miss (it goes in off his shin, a defender, the ref, then his shin again - It was actually a pass across goal from a perfect scoring position - but whatever).

Oxford get a corner in the 85th minute and we just give them the goal because we can't be bothered with the corner (because what's the point?). 3-2.

in the 89th minute Joe Grey waltzes around the entire Oxford midfield and defence - should have a shot on goal - but lays it off to Lacey who passes it to Ferguson. And he trips over the ball.

The referee plays 19 minutes of stoppage time during which the live stream freezes. Oxford bombard Dixon (who - to be honest, hasn't put a foot wrong all game).

They don't score though because they're shit.

Final score Hartlepool 3 Oxford 2

2-1 defeat, followed by the news Mancini has been sold for 50k (plus adding) to Stockport

Excellent prediction. Just one error. We wont see Lacey in a Pools shirt tell about March or early April if at all. The rest of it spot on.

Excellent and entirely possible except for one small error. Lacey wont be seen in a Pools shirt till March or early April if at all.

the post match riots on clarence road will be remembered for generations to come and a group of escaped monkeys will get their revenge on someone in club colours leaving the cauldron of hate. previously play was held up as they had to clear the pitch of disgarded season tickets and the half time draw gave the winner the choice of cash or the managers job.

Replicating last season almost to the day. Mr Lacey turns out for Pools till the back end of October when it starts to get a bit parky, then knocks it on the head for the duration. Must be a nice life.

In Reality...

it wont and cant be a 0-0. We will concede and yet again it will be poor.

however...

We start the game with one upfront, a Mr Joe Grey. Works tirelessly and is always being hounded by their 2 CBs.
Mancini Starts and simply is ripping the back end out of their counterpart midfielders. Nothing really sets the 2 sides apart going into the break apart from a missed free header at the back post by their man. We cant defend set pieces so im guessing their goal will come from that.

2nd half Lenny has given the lads a Fishermans Friend each and whiff of his flat cap on the way out. The lads are pumped and we change formation. Hastie now accompanies Grey up top. As useless has his runs are and lack of end product he finally gets the break and smashes one down the keepers throat, fumbles and rebounds into the net. Pools 1-0. They get one back through some shite play and we all Boo the Vic down !

last 10 and Mancini whips a top bins out of no where to secure us the 3 points ! THE END !

Starting line-up announced on X as
Dixon
Stephenson Hendrie Onarisie Ferguson

Wallace Featherstone Crawford Cooke

Mancini Grey

Subs: Jameson, Pruti, Paterson, Hancox, Hastie

So no place in the matchday squad for Dolan (as if!). Bit of a risk starting 3 players who have been out a while and only working their way back to fitness.

If we aren't capable of beating this lot we don't deserve to stay up, they are shocking how did we lose 5-2 to them?

A much needed win against admittedly poor opposition. Mancini a class above everyone else. Should have won much more comfortably than we did.

Hard to say if a corner has been turned because Oxford City were very, very poor. Would Pools have won without Mancini? It's debatable. Still, great to have Crawford back. Joe Grey worked his socks off (but will know better than anyone he should have had a hat-trick).

Amazing to have 3,500 Poolies in again and it's a long way from being all season ticket holders.

I was waiting on the final 10 mins to write the scores down but my next neighbour called round and asked if I could help him move some furniture upstairs. Time that I got back indoors the game had finished and the info had disappeared from B365.

Just tired, he was puffing a bit towards end of first half but managed to set up the win before fading again in second half.

Fatigue with Mancini , he really is very hard to defend against at this level, weirdly though we have been shite the last few years with the exception of Pedersen on loan I can’t remember better technical midfielders we have had than him
And Kemp, unless I am missing someone obvious, maybe Paul Stephenson though he was at the end of his career with us
