If there was one fixture I was looking forward to for pure naked revenge after enduring our collapse down there, it was this one, but now with our form it looks like another disappointment could be on the cards.
I’ll be off this morning to get a lucky rabbit’s foot and searching for a four leaf clover because bugger all else is working for us.

You'd hope maybe Grey to grab a goal and then we'd defend but we all know we cant bloody defend! I know we got a clean sheet at Dagenham but when was the last clean sheet at the Vic?

Looks like it was 2-0 v Rochdale Jan 21st last year.

Sweeney was part of the coaching staff, did he not have some input on tactics and team selection, he was on touchline shouting instructions during the games ?

well one thing about saturday is that a gutless defeat will save me some money as that will be it for me unless something positive comes up in the future. sick of modern football anyway so there is not much to actually miss. there will possibly be more fun in an old folks home bingo and tea dance than the game gives us now where everyone on the pitch and dug outs look as if they have heard that the end of the world is nigh before the rest of us. good job we do not go through our more boring jobs without at least a smile on our face occasionally. thought it was supposed to be a game of passions.

he must have had some input into things though. if he had been at complete loggerheads with him and other managers he worked under he would have been gone ages ago. rightly or wrongly he can be viwed as guilty by association with all the failures who worked above him.

We are also now entering the part of the season when certain players want a new contract.

Mark vaduca was renowned for it.

Most of the tactics nowadays are pretty basic and boring, And based on data and stats.
Fooking rubbish.

Kev …if Oxford raise their game slightly they’ll win…..I’d just like to see our ‘Carry On ‘ squad actually start doing something, anything banghead

So far in 2024 we haven't been beaten, haven't dropped a point or conceded a goal.
Can't beat a bit of positivity.

Since the last fixture both teams have imploded.
The off form derbie suggests probably a draw.
Just need 2 wins in January to keep our heads above water.
Put the rubber rings on standby for now.

3-2 to Pools. We’ve got to score at least three to win any game.

Trouble is our ‘artillery’ is out of ammo, the sights are buggered and the gun’s manned by the catering crew…… who are wondering which end the shells go in ! sadx

our only hope is that they are short on numbers and there replacements are even worse than ours.

Mancini will score - came on last week and first thing he did was get in the box and have a shot - next time shot from outside the box. He knows where the goal is and i think hes hungry to prove to the footballing world hes better than this level. Wouldnt be surprised if this lad single handily kept pools up this season. Imagine if we had him and Kemp last season !

What a start for auld Len.
Forget the table and that they are part time, these Oxford lads are definitely no mugs.
No hoof ball, play on the deck and look decent to watch.
Judging from the highlights they were unlucky last time out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHXca2QXcgM
A 5-2 "unacceptable capitulation" by us according to Askey earlier in the season, and its been downhill since.
If they score first, and the crowd turn on our players, auld Len, Sweeney and Raj, its game over.
Team selection /formation should be interesting.

‘Auld Len’ is as sharp as a sharp knife at a Stanley blade convention.
We could always replace him with a Gen Z infant phenomenon called Zak with pronouns of course, but……Nah…...I’ll stick with Lenny.

1 nil victory

They have an early goal disallowed and we grind out a win, courtesy of a Dolan Free kick, shortly after coming off the bench, mid way through the second half.
The free kick hits the inside of the post, then the back of the keepers head and later given as an own goal.

Lennie is given the freedom of Clarence Road after the final whistle

3- 0 did I put 0? Well after listening to a breath of fresh air and realism from Lenny I feel things are about to change starting Saturday. The man has a ton of experience and a lot of common sense. This is clearly not going to faze the man and the players will be running scared.

I suspect Askey was no motivator, he had his chosen compliant players and ploughed on picking them where possible come Hell or high water, result, pissed off players.
