Might be jumping the gun here but Joe Ramage has compiled a list of players who could leave Pools at the end of the season.

That sounds like a column filling exercise rather than anything of substance…..the old Private Eye ‘Polly Filler’ pun for a journalist desperately filling the columns, named after the famous wall filler for cracks.

You're being a bit harsh chaps. Ramage's article is a list of players signed by Hartley and Curle whose contracts are up in the summer - plus Featherstone who has got a contract to the end of the season off Askey.

I think we knew all of Hartley's heroes got 2 year contracts but a.f.a.i.k fans weren't told that the players Curle signed last January all got 18 month deals.

So 15 players in all, but the only one I'd like to see given a new deal a.s.a.p. is Dan Dodds. The rest are all playing for new contracts at best - apart from the ones who are obviously not wanted like Ndjoli and Pruti. Ferguson's latest contract is up in the summer. In my book he shouldn't be regarded as an automatic shoe-in either, as his current form is way below what it was in the promotion season.

Its players that are public knowledge with their contracts expiring. Some are guesses for example Pruti.

But the loan players are a given - we wont be seeing any return i doubt unless Hendrie or Mattock really have shown the gaffer why we should keep them on for another soul destroying season in the NL ! quite frankly we need much much better !

The Jock Experiments are a given to be going - Unless Hastie now scores in every other game and assist i presume its curtains for that lad. Plus hes probably killing the wages of 2 half decent NL players coming to the club.

Missing off that list was Wreh, again he will be gone, utter rubbish!

again another full clear out with hope we have some pennies to somehow gather some has beens and ex academy lads no one has heard of to mount a title charge !

also Agree its about time we get shot of Ferguson - hes not the player he was and i think another LB should be high on the wanted list along with a RB the club currently doesnt actually have!

Hastie to be fair has been decent the last few games.
We should definitely be talking to dodds to get him on a longer term deal.
It doesn't matter where next seasons players come from as long as they want to be here and give their all, Turner brought some good young players into the club when he first arrived from his previous work as an u21 coach.
Fergy needs to be playing as a LB with licence to overlap, but he looks exposed without a left sided midfielder to help him out.
To be fair the only ones I'd absolutely hate to see leave would be Mancini, Mani D, and Dodds, the rest I wouldn't be to bothered about.

I think most supporters agree with the above apart from two or three players we would lose no sleep about the others.

Dodds, Cooke, Fergie and Featherstone for me are more than good enough for this league. Josh has had his head turned and don't expect him to stay. The rest are surplus and need moving on.

Spot on. Does anybody actually buy the Mail anymore. Do any of the exiles on here actually subscribe to the online version. I used to get the Footy Mail sent to me by the Mail Office and receive it every Monday about forty years ago but that soon died out.

The Mail is published weekly(more’s the pity) and comes out once a week, so any Saturday match report comes out well after the event, therefore pointless.
Consequently, the columns have to be filled up with guff, bluff and stuff, because there’s nothing else they can do…match reports five days after the event in football terms like the Mail telling us Germany has invaded Poland in 1946.
It’s just gossip and chit chat.

I access the Mail with out paying for it, i can read it I want to but generally just to have a squint at the headlines. it asks me to disable the adblocker but I just close the dialogue box, you have to do this for every article. The Mail FB page is similar but can include articles which have nothing to do with Hartlepool, think the articles come from the same group who own the Mail.

Must admit I miss the Footy Mail. Local football, rugby, schools football read it from back to front. Enjoyed waiting at newsagents chatting whilst waiting for it to come in. Remember lads going round the streets and outside picture houses (cinemas for younger readers) selling them.

Mancini wasn't one of the players listed in the article as out of contract, which is why I didn't name him

Yeah, loved the Footy Mail, and would pretty much read it cover to cover. Was always particularly pleasing when adorned by the Docker- with a thumbs up!

Assuming Ramage has some clue what he's talking about - for those of us whose default attitude isn't lofty disdain because he writes for the Fail - none of this summer's signings appear to be on one year deals.

Good news in my book so far as Mancini, Mani D, Wallace and Manny O go. Less good in the case of Burton (will we ever get a proper look at him?), Dixon and Wreh. And Joe Grey still has another year to go on his 3-year deal.

Mani D for one is definitely on a longer contract - he wouldn't have walked away from Halifax for a 12 month deal.

Fair enough I didn't read the article and thought you must have overlooked him.

Remember standing outside the bungalow store waiting for the Footy Mails to come in…that’s when it was our local paper, not a poor shadow with little local input.

Wouldn’t be bothered if cooke left, good on the ball
But so slow everyone has to do his running for him, whines whenever anyone hassles him as well, opposition must love playing against him can read him like a book

he would be fine if we had a few strong running athletic lads around him. you can have one cooke in the side but not along others who are either too slow or go missing.
