Every morning, early on, I’m down the beach with Ratboy and and mostly at Seaton.
……and every morning they’re there, the North Sea dippers, positively screaming with delight as they enter the icy arms of Neptunes embrace. Their numbers have grown over the past few years and mostly appear to be menopausal women who dress in strange outfits and indulge in group warm ups…..oblivious to those outside their circle and not very sociable.
Now having spent several years trying to keep dry and warmish from the bloody North Sea back in the day and actually being paid to endure it with layers of clothing and water proofs, I find this behaviour absolutely crackers and truly believe it’s either masochism or the belief in eternal youth that drives them on.

Attention seekers, The world is full of them.
Mostly in politics and entertainment.

Ignore them, They are not worth the time of day.

Well they got Snowy's attention, and now the Bunker's. Doubt very much that they give a toss what anyone else thinks. Whatever happened to live and let live sctatchinghead

Lots of things get my attention, the bizarre in particular.
I’m not stopping them or you…I have no intention of turning up with armed guards to mine the beach and run barbed wire along it to prevent them entering the water or even stopping them physically… no, if they’re daft enough to enter the North Sea in December that’s their business.
Wear a yellow pair of shorts when you enter the water and I’ll wave to you…. I can’t vouch for Ratboy though.

But I'm not replying to your post, am I? The one I did reply too takes a censorious tone that I thought was a bit off. It doesn't take much on here for people having a bit of fun (Bluestreak included) to shade into something else.

Was the water a bit chilly this morning

"a censorious tone"

Have a word, I could not give a toss what people get up to as long as they don,t try to force there opinions or beliefs on others.
If people want to go into the NSea, And risk https://www.rlss.org.uk/cold-water-shock-the-facts
One thing for sure these attention seekers won,t mind others risking their lives to save them, Selfish twats.

My daughter is one of the North Sea Dippers and has asked me to post this.....

"we're all clinically insane, and there's no better way of staying happy and enjoying life than doing insane things with a bunch of insane people"

What she didn't mention is that she is a season ticket holder at Pools and since she started dipping in the North Sea she has been better able to cope with suffering the performances we've had to watch this season.

I was battered by the North Sea over a full shift for years and have to confess I did it for the money…… it never made Pools poor performances feel any better or tolerable.
Nice try.

One phrase always makes me laugh…’breaking the pain barrier’…to achieve what…? ….you’re not rescuing somebody or saving a life….if you want to break your own personal pain barrier buy a vice, stick your hand in it and start tightening…..cures you instantly.

I was told by my instructor years ago in a voice that intimidated me to this day….”I WANT YOU ON THE BLOODY WATER ..NOT IN IT !!”
We decided we’d find out for ourselves, he was sooooo right….it neither invigorated us or recharged us, it just made us swear profusely…. usually…”f#@k this”….. I must therefore decline your kind offer.

Er, Ratboy does, which is why Black Fell Terriers are best kept on a lead unless out in the sticks…..luckily they’re not a threat to livestock, but I never chance it.
Mind, in the house he’s a lazy bugger.

I’ve noticed with many a chuckle those over 60’s blokes who’ve been persuaded by their wife or daughter to have their leg’s tattooed …… and the sight of gothic horror scenes on gnarled legs that look like walnuts in a condom are just too much…they now have to wear shorts in the coldest weather just to get their moneys worth.

I look around and see all the kids who copied people like Beckam etc and got tattoos not realising when your skin could shrink like a shrivelled prune what they are going too look like. The lads will be wearing long sleeves to cover up their ‘full sleeve’ tattoos and the women won’t be wearing anything which reveals the tattoos.

That’s a good point Jamie, I worked with someone who said tattooists make a play about how their equipment has improved to allow more intricate detailing, but he said no one mentions the fact that human skin hasn’t changed and obviously won’t. so the intricate work will merge as the skin ages which no one can do anything about.
An expensive fad covering yourself in Gothic wallpaper patterns, scary faces or twee birthday card images.

know if i was at medical school now my aim would be to take up tattoo removal as i think it will be a growing business in a few years time. if you got similar scarring especially on your face by an accident at work you,d be rich for life with the compo you,d get. Really its being a case of paying something to get scarred for life and for me the biggest turn off there is if i see em on a lass. even match officials have to wear a long sleeved shirt if they have them.

Great idea but I believe the inks they use nowadays are irremovable, there was a programme on tv a few years back, completely removing them wasn't an option.

know if i was at medical school now my aim would be to take up tattoo removal as i think it will be a growing business in a few years time. if you got similar scarring especially on your face by an accident at work you,d be rich for life with the compo you,d get. Really its being a case of paying something to get scarred for life and for me the biggest turn off there is if i see em on a lass. even match officials have to wear a long sleeved shirt if they have them.

Great idea but I believe the inks they use nowadays are irremovable, there was a programme on tv a few years back, completely removing them wasn't an option.

just wonder if the idiots know that if its true. knowing some they,ll think they,ll be like the ones we stuck on as kids and washed off where they,,l expect the NHS to do it for free. if they mention mental health then those with problems will have to take a place even further to the back of the queue.

Unless you are going to work in some place wh8ch ‘embraces’ gerkery, you just cut your chances of getting a job……anyone who gets their face tattooed must surely realise that, dunno if it’s a valid excuse for the dole….it’s almost self inflicted.

from there point of view they might think its pointless getting a tattoo that nobody can see. its the very last thing i,d ever do but cannot see anyone being refused work nowadays if they have one. most lasses on supermarket counters under a certain age seem to have em now but seem to go hand in hand with haircuts we had as kids from the local sheep shearer.

Thing is you can grow your hair again as a kid, a tattoo not so easy….it’s just a fashion…and fashion is not style. Some of those who promoted them to their public ain’t the sharpest knives in the box.

always think of beckham when its tattoos get mentioned so you,ll be right. also wonder who started this craze of growing beards though. it cannot be down to covid again as i,m sure there were more about before that cropped up. being clean shaven now is like being the only gay in the villiage.

Shaved heads, some men do it as they are losing their hair but others I don’t know why, remember Nelson had a shaved head but now as a full head of hair not unless he has had a transplant but I doubt that.

I look around and see all the kids who copied people like Beckam etc and got tattoos not realising when your skin could shrink like a shrivelled prune what they are going too look like. The lads will be wearing long sleeves to cover up their ‘full sleeve’ tattoos and the women won’t be wearing anything which reveals the tattoos.[/quote]

One of the best decisions i ever made after many hours under the gun was not having a king cobra's head tattooed onto my belly.. i can't think what it would have looked like now.

Turn up reeking of booze at the dole with a teardrop or borstal dot on your cheekbone and you'll get accepted on the day...one of the most bizarre tattoos ive seen was a full english breakfast tattooed on the back of a bald mans head..it was in Hastings tbf.
