I went once to Ayresome Park in 1981. The was to see the great Georgie Best in Jim Platts testimonial. Bestie was unbelievable what a player. He played against his friend Platt and straight from the kick off he shot 45 yards against the bar wow what a effort that was. He was total quality and the Boro fans kept singing sign him on.
Only went to Roker Park once to see Poolies and that wonder goal from a corner by Honour.

Before seat belts were invented. Would like to know the before and after figures of deaths / serious injuries etc. I remember a lot of people did not want belts fitted because of the worry of getting stuck after a crash and burning or drowning. I would also like figures on the airbags. Both have been good inventions but not without problems.

Used to love the programmes in the 60’s when I was in primary school that show what life would be like in the 90’s with everyone having their own flying car in the garage and robots doing all the work…what a load of bollocks.

they are like concept cars that we hear about that never make the production line. be interesting for todays youngsters watching todays futeristic stuff and look back at em in the 2050,s. never know things might go full circle and we have things in our life that actually work or keep us warm.

Do any of you remember around 1976/7 one evening when the t.v was taken over by a weird man's voice saying something along the lines of " We are currently above the UK in a spacecraft ..we have been watching you for many years..we come in peace and do not mean you any harm " then his voice faded out and the screen returned to normal service.

Found it 1977 and the name behind the voice was Vrillion. It talks about putting down weapons for peace etc Look it up under Vrillion. It definitely happened and cut in on a live broadcast. No one was able to work out the who why or what. However was behind it blocked the TV station and took over for around 5 mins.

Don’t waste time and be a silly un,
Pop out now and buy Vrillion.

That sounds more like it, just need a tune to go with it

I was a six year old with a 60 year old hair cut.. Including brylcreme.

My mum went off it when she found out.

This was when longhair was common.

bloody lads haircuts. could not wait till i got into my teens to choose which barber i went to and how i wanted my hair.remember taking a copy of the football star to a barber in halifax and told him i wanted mine like norman oakley. far better than looking like an extra from peeky blinders that most lads had to suffer.

Mad Cow Disease - weren't we as a race forecast to be doomed to be a nation full of raving lunatics by now?
Fortunately it looks like it's only affected minority environmental and woke fanatics, unfortunately its struck most of that hugely influential minority group in Westminster (600 odd MPs and HOL).

well its an odds on certainty that many caught it or was it something to do with those who caught covid early as all the shit we are getting seemed to start in that period. the wokeites have gone from stengthto strength since then with climate change, 20 mph speed limits, ULEZ, BLM, trans crap with men having babies and the only rainbow seen are on kids pictures and hospital crossing places. even younsters think like us but will only admit it if none of there pears are listening.

Question Time on Thursday night was quite ‘lively’ to put it mildly,, the Tory MP Steve Brine got a bit of flak from Writer and climate activist George Monbiot, TBH it takes a lot of bottle for any Tory MP to be on the panel. What these climate activists don’t realise you just can’t turn the taps off on fossil fuel, the alternatives aren’t there yet and expecting people to pay a fortune for a Heat Pump and an Electric Car is a non starter.

it took nearly 40 years from the invention of the motor car until it became widely available to many. then it took another 20 odd for it to be available to the masses. they want this condensing into a period of under 10 years without the infastructure to back it up. if there had been very few filling stations at the growth of the petrol car numbers they would never have grown. like videos and DVD,s heat pumps and electric cars will become cheaper in time and not just for the rich minority.

Great post Accrington, I wish all the greenies would think like this, Peter Hitchens more or less pointed this out on Question Time saying the U.Ks efforts to reduce our carbon outputs are very minimal and would make no difference to stop global warming. The greenies then say the rest of the globe will take notice of GREAT Britains efforts to stop global warming and follow suit, will they s****,Britain is no longer Great, the Empire disappeared years ago.

i seriously doubt most of the greenies are at the top of a love they have for their own country. possibly they are the ones who knock it at every opportunity and is only great in their eyes because it suits them. for many other countries i imagine we,ll be a laughing stock on the subject like we would laugh if another small insignifcant country came out with something similar. there is a large continent called south america and we never hear a word from it regarding this issue.

What I find incredible is the sheer ignorance of these climate chancers.
If we had no oil or coal we’d have no steel or plastics, how would we live, unless they’re planning to go back to some utopian never land where fields are ploughed with wooden ploughs, but what could we get to pull the ploughs as they won’t allow the ‘abuse’ of animals and machinery is then extinct…… we’d be in the Stone Age without the furs.
The world as we know it would cease and the eco loons would still be trying to make their plant based mobile phone work,

The earth will dispose of mankind when it feels fit, To actually think we can save the planet is the height of arrogance/ignorance.
The earth is more than capable of saving it self, And if it has to destroy to do so it will.

The Ice Age began 2.4 million years ago and ended only 11,500 years ago….what caused the warming that ended the ice age… sctatchinghead Can’t have been fossil fuels, industry and cars….so it must have been the Earth re-setting itself…..these people are the result of sheltered woke lives over the past fifty years…and a belief in their own grossly misplaced genius.

Arrange for them to be shipped some where there is no fossil fuels, see how they cope then.
