We sign a 23 year old not a youngster in today’s game from a club bottom of the league, 11 first team appearances in 5 years at Sheff. Wed according to Wikipedia, I will reserve my opinions until he plays.

That's is all we can do, Jamie. Reading between the lines he's probably on trial. Let's hope he impresses eh.

And his loan spell last season at Swindon was stopped by a season-ending shoulder injury. 'Course, I'm as disappointed as the next fan that we haven't signed John Stones...

He's 23 and still at a Championship club so he must have some ability. Let's hope he does a good job for us and we can stop leaking so many goals.

Can he be worse than what we've currently got. I'd pick Kenny Bottles in place of our current offerings.

I wonder if Kenny is still alive, must be 70 odd if he is. He used to scare the shit out of me as a kid.

Come to think of it he was obviously mentally ill from birth and he must have went through hell with all the shit he got from people.

Wednesday's OS doesn't mention it either. There's a lot of speculation in this fairly rubbishy article: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/sheff ... -defender/

I doubt there's any expectation of getting a transfer fee for him if he wasn't even named in their squad for this season!

You'd imagine there's every chance of Pools getting him on a free if the next couple of months works out for him and the club - but that's a big if. He's not going to be anything like match fit for several weeks. Suppose there's a chance he's been training with Pools for a wee while.

It always good to know these things for a variety of reasons. One month loan: maybe a short term solution to an injury although could have a possible extension if player performs. If it is only a months loan with no extension clause then there is very little to raise any enthusiasm. Could be a season long loan with a view to a permanant deal if all parties happy. Could be a loan until January which could allow a permant deal if all parties happy. I just think being lifelong fans of a football clubs, people like to know these things. But maybe its just me.

I think we have learnt lately that a short term loan to see how good they are is the best option.

He says he can't wait to get stuck straight in to the thick of things. Would suggest he's ready and he's going to be playing at the weekend. Absolutely no point in bringing him here on a month's deal if there's no plan to use him, also Sheff Wed newspapers are suggesting he'll be moving in the Jan window.

Got to be sceptical when he said we're a big club, closely followed by he can't wait to get started!

Shouldn't matter if he's fit or not- surely he must have enough in the tank for Saturday against a pub team. If he's shite on Saturday - send him straight back. No excuse for any of them to have a bad game on Saturday.
Lose and we should bin the lot of them off, for a breach of trade descriptions- there really can be no excuses

I'm normally quite positive, but losing on Saturday is simply not an option and would be a new all time low for me, in my 40 years of following through thin and thinner

I meant not match fit as in hasn't played any competitive games this season. Hopefully he's as fit as a lop in every other respect.

Yup, you get a coach to Scousanavia, you’ll need a visa.

All we can really do is wait and see. He has been training with us and has passed that stage. Now he's on a short loan to see how he handles football in this league. If he passes that stage he either gets his loan extended or even gets offered a permanent deal.
I think this new precautionary route that we're travelling on is a good idea.
At least this way we are trying to improve the squad, surely we must give the lad every chance. If all he can do is win headers it will nullify the present dilemma of too many goals against coming from set pieces.
Also he might be a threat at the other end.

The interviewer mentions "a short term loan initially", so I guess we are looking at a month with power to add if he turns out to be better than what we already have. Fingers crossed.

Or more likely a league club will swoop with the offer of better wages and away he'll go. Not blaming the lad, football is a short and precarious career especially at the lower end of the pyramid.

Parkhouse - yeah he was shite- from the Mike Fondop and Olemola school of finishing (think we forget some of the bilge DC signed)
Mind his January replacement Luke Armstrong wasn't too shabby - wouldn't have been anywhere near the playoff final without his HUGE contribution. Just a pity Salford had already agreed a deal for him before our season had finished.

Speaking of which is Luke injured or been put on Gardening Leave at the Stadium of Cake, as I haven't seen him on the few EFL highlight packages I've watched recently. sctatchinghead

armstrong is not even on the bench. there is a strong rumour they want rid in january but at a price we,ll not be able to afford with loads of div.2 clubs that will be interested. its a case of him having to get rid of his home bird image he has created though if he wants to continue as a league player.

Olamola scored Bromley's 4th goal at the Vic the other week and has got 5 goals from 8 appearances for them this season!
Mike Fondop got 13 goals for Oldham last season ( ) but is back to his Pools' form in 23/24 with none from 9.
Parkhouse has gone the way of a lot of Academy prospects at big clubs. He's now turning out in the Northern Irish second division for Harland and Wolff Welders.

thing is both were national league players in the football league. in the same way how many would manny d be scoring for a div.2 club struggling a bit if he moved .

armstrong is not even on the bench. there is a strong rumour they want rid in january but at a price we,ll not be able to afford with loads of div.2 clubs that will be interested. its a case of him having to get rid of his home bird image he has created though if he wants to continue as a league player.

Almost got to Wrexham not long ago, Would think the deal is on the table waiting to be signed in January.
Don,t want to risk losing loads of dosh, Maybe.

Yeah, I recall there was a huge row with Armstrong refusing to play for Harrogate because he wanted the move which didnt come to pass. Their manager was understandably peed off by his attitude so he hasn't featured for them except as the occasional sub ever since. They obviously want rid but they paid Salford a fee for him so will want a decent wad for him. He wont be coming anywhere near Pools, that is certain.

one thing without ever seeing the lad he,ll be better than the last loan player we got from the red side of sheffield. was it parkinson or something like that.

Parkhouse - yeah he was shite- from the Mike Fondop and Olemola school of finishing (think we forget some of the bilge DC signed)

Fondop has scored at least one goal this season. I saw the highlights of Oldham hammering Barnet (4-0 or was it 4-1) away and Fondop scored a very good goal from a tight angle.

Yep - the game was on 22nd November and Wikipedia hasn't been updated to then. It was his first of the season - 1 goal in 14 games. Plus 1 red card
