According to today's Daily Mail Newell reckons he was offered a bung to sell Stevie Howard to Sheff Wed.

Now if this can be proven then the only fair remedy should be to relegate Wednesday two divisions and replace them in the Championship with the team who they beat in the play-off final to get there...

And because we can't be sure when irregularities involving Howard started, all transfers between league clubs involving him should be cancelled, all the goals he scored since leaving Pools should be cancelled, and he should revert to being a Hartlepool player.

We'd only play him in midfield, with an occaisional game at centre half.

I think that using the words "According to..." at the beginning of the statement cover those bases.

Yeah, but just imagine - if we were suddenly propelled to the Championship with our team. We'd rip them apart, Matty Robson speeding down the wings, John Daly bullying all those defenders. Graham Kavanagh against Willie Boland.....
