Maybe they expected a much smaller crowd and opening the Town End (as they should have done) would make the crowd too spread out and looking very sparse. Only a theory.

Bizarre decision, plenty who would've gone if their regular end was open probably swerved it today - lucky sods!

I remember when Gibson closed the Rink End and fitted seats, we were for a while forced onto the Mill House Terrace as half the Town End was closed off…. A nightmare for me as the my lads couldn’t see a thing on the pitch, nearly put them off going so had to move temporarily to the Mill House Stand.
But closing the Town End must have spoilt the atmosphere (before the team did) where they trying to recreate the Covid atmosphere.

if you want to kill the atmosphere just shut one part of the ground.

I really can’t see the sense in this. Hobin I think came up with the idea to save money but I think it is having the opposite effect - a lot of people don’t go because the town end is shut which costs the club more money than they save in costs.

Short sighted, counter-effective thinking…

makes it worse for those who want to stand is the town end being the only option if it rains to keep dry. it could just have easily rained yesterday then there would probebly have been less attending.

Most football clubs are very poor at P R. There used to be a saying that the customer is king, not in football. They talk about having an enjoyable match day experience then close a part of the ground which numerous supporters use. I wonder who made that decision.

Singh shut the west stand at Darlo to save money on stewards and catering. Makes sense financially but doesn’t go down well with people who like to use the stand they have closed.

Well it’s a false economy as far as I am concerned. I never went yesterday and I won’t be going to any more games unless I can go where I want to go. :angry-tappingfoot:

To shut the home end behind the goal, will and did kill any atmosphere, piss off home fans who stand there, myself included, and give an away team an advantage, the players can't offer any encouragement because there's no one there.

Might as well have given them a one goal advantage...not that Chester needed it.

As mentioned many times its short sighted and will cost more in the long term as people will just bin games as they realise that the club doesn't really give a shit about its supporters.

I've been to one game this season 1st home fixture and was looking at what future games I might attend, at the moment it's 0 not even the thought of games against Rochdale, Halifax, Chesterfield or Oldham. Which I did have penciled in to going to, not a chance at the minute. We have better things to spend our money on.

And after todays draw it probably would have been York City at home.

What atmosphere, from my experience all the atmosphere has moved long ago to the north west corner, 3205 attendance Saturday 471 away fans I don’t think opening the town end for a handful of fans would have generated much atmosphere even if Pools had been playing well.

Hardly an ‘handful’…regulars.
Using your logic why not squeeze everyone in the Mill house stand like Gibson did then we can just have one full stand with bigger queues for food, drink and toilets and bugger the atmosphere .
It would have cost next to nowt to leave the Town End open.

Your at home playing in a ground which is renowned for a great atmosphere, so i tell you what we are going to do. Close behind the goal, what a fantastic idea that is. Lets just give up all home advantage in future, whoever come up with this braindead idea should be sacked on the spot, clueless muppets. Another in a long line of idiotic decisions run by people who have no clue.

What’s all this controversy over the Town End being closed, in the games at the start of the season i attended I didn’t hear any chanting from the Town End, in fact it was like a morgue. There were 2734 Pools fans there on Saturday, did several hundred stay away because the Town End was closed. Let’s start a campaign to fill the Town End to see if it can encourage the Pools players to play better, I don’t think a full house on Saturday would have done that similar to the game against Crawley last season.

Not all supporters go for the NWC ‘atmosphere’…some prefer watching to communal chanting.

Nailed it Mr B!

Are the opposition going to prefer playing in front of an empty terrace or one with 4/500 giving them stick at corner kicks and set pieces? Complete no brainer..........

These days there is never 4/500 in the town end, I have never witnessed the opposition getting stick from set pieces and corner kicks.going by Saturdays attendance that means 2200 scattered round the ground. It’s not the atmosphere that was missing it was the players who went missing, give it a rest about the Town End because it was closed wasn’t the reason Pools lost on Saturday.

Well if it’s such a success, why not close all the ground and just leave the away end open….
I’ll make it simple, closing the Town End will have given a meagre financial gain for no reason.
Although I remember turning up for a match under IOR and our season ticket seats were covered in scaffolding with a camera crew in place…we weren’t informed beforehand and on asking the steward were told go and find one somewhere else…easier said than done at the time…. Customer service at its best…my arse! :angry-tappingfoot:

I give up on the debate about the Town End being closed it’s history now, anyone have any complaints complain to Pools and stop whinging on here.

Yes I remember the Blackpool play off game, found our seats only to be occupied by others who told us the scaffolding was on theirs. See the stewards they said who basically ignored us, we watched the game sitting on the concrete stairs in the Millhouse Stand.

So discussing the town end on here should stop and be referred to the club, what a ridiculous thing to say on a football forum. If so then surely all debate on how we played, who wants Raj out, in fact everything relating to Pools should stop on here and just email or twitter the club?

So our seats were unusable, the stewards as much use a crocodile filled jacuzzi just how do get to complain to someone…? ..leave the ground to go and complain to who? We eventually found seats, but planning should be in place so that when these seats are taken out of use (which have been paid for) the club should foresee the problem and contact the users with alternative seating.

Whoa…..this is a football message board, we can discuss what we like and this is relevant to the club and fans.
If we can’t discuss this what can we discuss…gardening tips, knitting patterns…behave.

Yeah - Your absolutely 1000% correct Jamie - how foolish I now feel, thinking that having a crowd in the stand behind the goal- might in some way impact a game.of Association Football.

I therefore DEMAND that Raj permanently closes all three sides occupied by the home supporters with immediate effect! :angry-tappingfoot:

We'll have to supply away tickets to fulfill league regulations, but should be a decent revenue raiser and more fool them, travelling all that way for a nailed on defeat.

Let's not forget we played out best football in an empty stadium during the VICTORIOUS Conference Play off campaign of '21. rolf

Clearly the reason why we're shite is because 3 and a half thousand plus selfish fuckers turn up every fortnight between August and May- and sometimes TWICE in one week!- (it really is an OUTRAGE) :angry-screaming:

The more I think about it, the more livid I get and as for Season Ticket Holders - ...................

................simply NO words! refred

Raj needs to employ an artist (NOT of the piss variety, before you start banging your gums) to see if we can have a mural painted- like what Arsenal had at Highbury many moons ago. I'm sure they won the league AND cup double that year. It could be us!

I will of course be writing to the club, to voice my displeasure, setting out the points above and trust that Raj will obviously do the decent thing and act accordingly. I will post his reply on this forum, to keep you all in the loop.

Kind regards

Kettering P. rolf

If we had a mural in the Town End, we’d probably charge all them their painted faces for a Season Ticket….
……mind you, we could always offer fans the opportunity to have their faces painted in oils, they keep the original for the price of the season ticket and their face goes on the mural (touched up of course if your a bit on the ugly side)…..and instead of going to the match you can go shopping with the wife, take up knitting or take a three mile walk off the half mile Heugh breakwater
