A list of 27 players available compiled by Mail albeit 2 are goalkeepers, I assume know about them.

Typical mail, just random players without clubs many of them Southern based and highly unlikely to want to come up here.
Page filling guff from the fail again.
I'm sure JA will be grateful for the heads up though.

there will be more like 127 ex league players looking for work. think there is a site somewhere that names them all.

Just the Mail trying to fill columns with bumpf and trivia of no consequence, it’s gone from actual reporting to ‘101 pointless football facts’ trivia.

That’s like looking at a list of cars all the same make you want to buy and losing the will to live 5 minutes into it.

We don't really need a forward but Danny Rowe age 31 winger and prolific goal scorer in national leagues. Maybe its an injury situation but if fit would of thought he could do a job. sctatchinghead

We are not restricted to free agents. We are allowed to sign or loan any player we like.
Free agents are without clubs for a reason. Either nobody wants them or they are demanding too much contract and salary wise. There must be loads of decent players unable to get games who could do a job for us. Where are all our friends when we need them. Surely Askey has contacts who could loan us a decent centre back, midfielder etc.
There is no transfer window restriction in this league until March.

Now c,mon Mr Water, Read the thread title, lol

We would need to spend to sign a player whos employed and also to loan a player.

You can spend to sign a player, doesn’t guarantee anything though. J

The thing is a free transfer is not exactly free. The player is entitled to a signing on fee.

The point still applies that we are not restricted by silly windows etc. Signing any player costs money with wages etc.
Clubs are sometimes willing to cancel contracts just to get unwanted players off their books.
There are ways.
The bare fact is we need players and have to explore every available option to get them.
Will that do?

Without Darren Kelly - who is actually doing the job he was paid to do?
Is he going to be replaced, is Lennie Lawrence still kicking about or was he part of Curle's team?

If this is now with Askey - it will have to happen this week - as we're playing Saturday/ Tuesday the next few weeks.

That’s what I am worried about Kettering. With games coming quick and fast we could very easily go in to free fall. I’m sure Askeys on to it but you can’t predict injuries.

if that does happen then you get panic signings or loans coming in which might not be what anyone wants. it happens to all managers the good and the bad.

Curle should be a warning from history, get the right players in, not just any players in. Every signing is a risk, no matter if the they were bought or brought in on a free, nothings guaranteed.

I wonder who is on the available list, Hastie, Patterson, Pools are a bit thin on the ground to be letting players move on, sounds like they have to before bringing anymore in.

really you,d have to be despirate to offer a full time pro contract to any of last seasons failures. its not as if any really showed in any game they deserved the title of full time pro. we might have to pay part of their wages to get em off our books which makes it harder to bring anyone in.

surely though it would be better to ditch the dross PDQ to give us a fighting chance this season if that is remotely possible. you cannot be too sure that all our best players will still be around come next season even if they are still under contract. all you need is another new bankrolled team to pop up picking up these lads and we could end up with money that goes into the black hole to join the cup money we never say the benefit of.
