Come on Poolies! We all know what happens when we predict easy victories. I'm saying nowt but if forced to predict the score I'd say 0-1 after a dour defensive game with Pools giving away an unfortunate goal.

I thought Josh had a three game ban so Fylde will be the third banned game? Also Mani D went off at Southend with a head injury so it may be the concussion protocol will be invoked so our two first choice strikers could be out.So we could start with Wreh and Gray.

Don't forget Seaman and Mancini are more than capable of chipping in a few goals as well.

We'll have that odious knut Adam Virgo commentating. He hates Pools- and has said as much in the past, how intimidated he was by the Poolies when he played against us for Brighton.

well i,m not giving then nearly 30 quid for the rip off monthly pass just to watch one single game with or without virgo. no single interest in any other game to watch on a laptop if pools are not involved.

Remember spoiling a night out in Dublin last time we were in the NL, in a sports bar watching Pools get stuffed 5-2 or something equally outrageous. But that was then, this now - I hope!

Going for a nervy 2-1 win
Interested to see how he sets up without Mani D and Josh---may put Wallace in and push Cooke and Mancini further on---though I think a straight swap for Grey more likely

Fylde have a six foot brick outhouse centre forward called Gold Omotayo who has also been invoved in mixed martial arts. Should be interesting to see how our central defenders deal with him.

Think we'll be ok if we can stop the crosses. Refs give our big CF Josh f*ck all in this league and div 2, wonder if theirs gets the same?

Highlights of Fylde's 2-1 loss at Wealdstone on You tube, he looked good when they got the ball to him but it is only a few minutes out of 90+.

I saw at Southend that we would rather deal with the cosses when they come in rather than stop them. This is me being ironic in case there are any doubts.

Clearly the better side but given momentum to fylde, sloppy closing down

Cooke been excellent getting more space as they concentrate on Mancini.

Dixon should have done better for the goal

That's it final score 3-1 as I predicted but lost my nerve after we went 3-1 up after 53 minutes and cashed out my bet of 18-1 and took the equivalent of 6-1.

Great win. The second half was a bit quiet. I guess the lads had Monday on their minds so didnt want to push too hard when 3-1 up. I wasn't wrong about Gold Omotayo. UTP.

I enjoyed that so much that I've watched it again on TNT when I got back in (fast forwarding most of the 2nd half). Great interviews at full time from Mani D (a very smart feller) and JA. He still wants a couple more in to cover for when we get a few injuries - e.g. for Dan Dodds who might not be fit to start on Monday. On the other hand, he thinks that with him getting a long term deal and Pools top of the league, persuading good players to come here is going to be an easier job.

Looking back at it, Dixon concedes a very soft goal, it more or less went through him. Then again, he pulls a good save at the death . Another game where it's hard to criticise any Pools performance and quite a few - Mani D, Mani O, Mancini, Cooke, Dodds - were excellent.

Big test at Cheaterfield on Monday but for them too!.

I agree Mr FH. Just wondering when we are going to stop giving way soft goals. Dixon should have saved the shot but if you are going to give opposing forwards free hits from close range, more than a few will score. As the pundits said: Otomayo was allowed to get goal side of the Hartlepool defender. I belive it was Lacey. He is an experieced defender so dont know why this happened. Thrilled to bits with the victory so I don't mean to complain, I just have a feeling that if we cant stop the goals going in we will make life harder for us than it needs to be.

My only concern was in the first half, the amount of unchallenged crosses being allowed to come in the box, need to try closing these down. Something to work on, other than that the defence played really well. Mani O was fantastic,my MOM today, got that pace to recover like Timi had only Mani can actually pass a ball. Ferguson is looking the fittest I've seen him, was excellent today. Thought Mancini overplayed it a bit at times but still excellent, Cooke got in good areas and Crawford did well. Still think a more defensive minded midfielder might be better for some games such as Monday. As for Mani D, he's an excellent all round player, quick, good in the air, great link up play and busts a gut to get on the end of things. Wreh looks a decent link up player but can't see him scoring many, think Josh will be back in. Overall apart from a few moments it was a quite comfortable, cut out the silly goals against then we will be up there.

Ferguson 7 did well great cross for first
Seaman 6 decent but per poster above let’s too many crosses in

Mani O 8 v goodC prob our most important player
Dodds 7 great athlete
Lacey 7 doing well, really benefiting from playing with Mani O

Crawford 7 another good game
Mancini 7 didn’t come off for him today but stil showed some class
Cooke 8’MOM think word out onMancini is giving him more space and he used it v well

Mani D 8 2 goals and held ball up well—great job mani D
Wren 6 put a shift in

All in all a comfy win apart from a poor 15 mins just before half time

We did have a poor 15 mins before half time, when we conceded.
But we have to accept that teams/ opposition are going to have spells in games where they are on top. It's not realistic to expect us to dominate for the full 90 / 100 minutes.

I'm happy for them to have the ball if they are just playing it around their back 4 in their own half, it's not harming us. We just need to try and reduce the amount of balls into the box- it's a numbers game. You also sometimes just have to accept that they may have scored a worldie, which 9 times out of 10 would normally end up in the back of the stand.

Still, a great start/ platform to work from, and I'm sure if we were all honest, have exceeded the start we would have realistically expected.

Whilst Dixon did make a bit of a dog's dinner of their goal- he won't need to be told that- and would have him between the sticks everyday of the week given the choice between him and Gentle Ben of Barnsley!

Dixon 6 at fault for goal
[quote/]

Keepers usually are, Killip was a master at the art of being at fault for goals, but Dixon is a good, competent and confident keeper who at least the defence appear to have confidence in and certainly makes me feel more assured too..
Grey was doing a lot of fetching and carrying when he came on which usually goes unnoticed by a lot of fans and from what I’ve seen seems to have acquired a rather different role in his game under Askey.

The post match interviews on TNT were interesting especially Mani Do’s B-road Yorkshire accent and Askey really is the master of saying something and giving bugger all away, what a contrast to Curles post match addresses to the Nation.

What gave me a warm glow was the commentary team who usually give the opposition the credit on these occasions were fulsome in their praise of Pools but the icing on the cake described Pool’s style as a ‘joy to watch’ as to all intents and purposes the match was over after the third goal.
Fylde seemed to wilt after our first goal and the third goal had the same effect.
We just seem so fit and able to capitalise on this what a contrast to previous seasons.?
I’d say on this evidence Askey puts Challinor in the shade.

Agreed, have to say, that’s the most relaxed I’ve been at a home game for some time. You just knew Pools were winning it. Fylde absolutely blown away.

If he can secure the 2 additional quality players he needs, we’ve seen enough now to say we can challenge top 5. Would disagree on the point re Challinor though. This is a very good start, but he’s achieved nothing yet. We did get relegated and we’re shaping well. But DC did get us promoted.

On current form, Askey has 100% given us a chance again.

The only ‘disappointment’ was their goalie saving Grey’s placed shot and fumbling it off the line to save his blushes..soooooo close.
