Driving through town early this morning and saw a car burned out in Shrewsbury St and Caledonian Rd, just found out there’s been trail of them from. Landsdowne Rd, Brinkburn Rd, Baden St and Osborne Rd.
Looks like a direct line, what sort of cretin does stuff like that

you know its self combustion because the planet is burning. we do not need conspiracy theories of arson being mentioned on here.

A number of homes in Hartlepool were evacuated overnight due to multiple arson attacks on cars in the town.

Fires on Caledonian Road, Baden Street, Shrewsbury Street, Lansdowne Road, Osborne Road and Brinkburn Road were attended by emergency services.

Cleveland Police was alerted to a series of blazes at about 02:00 BST and has launched an investigation.

Besides losing your car, you end up with a bill. Another car to replace it, getting to work, taking the family and a lot of other things …it certainly is gonna mess up some lives and for what?

I wonder whether the culprits know that arson can carry a life sentence.

Yes in many instances it carries a larger sentence compared to that of Murder.

Really feel sorry for those who have had their car set on fire. There will be those who have personal items in their car which will be destroyed and the inconvenience to sort this out is unimaginable.

The culprit(s) need removing from this earth!

"can" is the operative word. Far more likely a suspended sentence and a fine they will never pay. Pure speculation on my part but I am guessing the perpetrator has already done time because this is a sustained attack. Not the type of thing a drunken yob might do just for fun.

If I had my way, the perpetrators would be paying the cost of this off till the end of their days….. I’ve never understood how people who do this walk away cost free while the victims have to fork out.

I can only assume people who engage in this type of thing have zero money and have their lifestyle financed by tax payers. Doesn't matter what they get up to, they are never in the position to pay a fine and the prisons are full to bursting so that leaves suspended sentences and community work which they wont get out of bed for. The very lowest of the low are a drain on the communities in which they live.

31 year old man arrested.

This sounds bizarre. It must take some effort and knowledge to do this on such a scale?

It's as simple as wedging some firelighters in the grille at the front of the car and lighting them.

Happens regularly in Shotton but never seems to make the news. There have been at least six in our street over the past two or three years.
