Askey says Josh never made contact with Tinkler who rolled around as if he'd broken his leg then quickly hopped up and got on with the game. If so, wonder if we'll appeal, and if the video shows blatant attempt by that twat Tinkler to get Josh sent off will he get a ban for bringing the game into disrepute? It's time these blatant cheats were found out and punished if they want to make the game a better spectator experience.

Referee was bordering on biased. Dreadful again.

Josh gets f*ck all from any referee, kicked and shoved all game and not a single free kick in his favour.
Officials get away with downright inept performances at all levels in the English game.

Dixon 6 not much to do really, doesn’t look any better on crosses than the last keeper

Would that be St Ben of Killip…?

How we won that I don't know, but 3 points are massive to us. We spent 90 minutes trying to give Gateshead a confidence boost, by allowing them to pass the ball at will. You would of thought man united had turned up the amount of respect we gave them. Another great crowd of over 5k for conference footy.

Totally agree, you would have thought we were the away team allowing Gateshead to come on to us.

Ben I Am only on the bench for Barnsley today - so they resisted the temptation to try him out as a striker

Also noticed Sterry not down for Donny today and I think he missed midweek game. Surely not injured already.

He is injured and out for at least 8 weeks.

Jakub Stolarczyk made his 1st team debut for Leicester today and kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Huddersfield. Time well spent at the Vic - had plenty of work to do every week!

I heard some of that game, driving home- he sounded quite assured between the sticks. Leicester were making hard work of it given they had the vast majority of last season's squad on the pitch.

Like you said Mr Hogan's- he had plenty of practice at Pools last season!

Doncaster should have asked for a full structural survey

what made it worse was tinkler got the bounce of the ball for their equaliser as well. the incident happened just to the left of me and josh did get the ball but did make contact with tinkler and his foot was off the ground but could not have been that high if he made contact with the ball. both him and manny d got sod all off the ref through the whole game which ended with manny giving away a free kick after he was pushed in the back and fell on the ball. the ref reminded me of a kid with learning difficulties chasing the ball from side to side doing a benny hill impersonation. if they want to sort the game out, instead of yellow carding the bench put players on report who they feel are putting it on with injuries and watch the incident and then ban them. they,ll quickly get the message.

The red was pathetic, there was no contact, it was a strikers lunge in an attempt to block a potential clearance, if we're fussy you could argue it to be a yellow but there was nothing in it, Tinkler conned the ref who couldn't wait to pull out the red, he even hurdled the 'injured' Tinkler on the floor like a racehorse at Aintree to slap the red in Umerah's face.

do think the red card woke a lot of us up out of nearly nodding off watching gateshead passing from side to side constantly with as little penetration than a 90 year old in a brothel. no wonder they do not get big crowds watching that week in week out. i,d rather spend a couple of hours in morrisons than that.

Thanks for the summary everyone. Having listened to the game on Tees and having to pay for it your comments dittod my thoughts on our play. Craig Hignet was actually a very good summariser and very articulate . Got the impression the defence was stronger but the midfield was weak in particular cook who does not seem to be up to scratch as yet. With a poor bench we are still well short but I know that Askey is up to speed. Agree from the commentary it seemed like Man City against Accrington Stanley and we cannot play like that every week. Still the manager seems to know what he is doing and Pools are a work in progress. Still sticking with mid table for now. Good result considering the circumstances but Umerah needs to choose his battles more wisely.

It was a red for me the way the rules are these days, flew in recklessly
Josh actually had a fairly poor game , suspension a shame given our squads lack of options and the fact the more him and mani D can play together the better

Excellent 2nd goal. 1st goal was pretty good too.

Yes Cooke did well for a "Carthorse" as some refer to him, 90th min also.

I thought it was a tactical masterclass from Askey, all week he was saying that Gateshead passed the bar around very well and they did.
They only opened us up once in the 1st half, early down the right but then we contained them quite easily I thought.
We broke quickly and took our chances well, with Mancini in the midfield we have someone with ability to break quick and attack from midfield.
Was stood on Mill House on the half-way line and the Umerah lunge didn't look too clever but the referee was poor all game.
Perhaps Askey knows we don't have the players to press in midfield but he set us up well I thought horses for courses.
We look to have found that fox in the box we have needed for a number of years.

Up the Pools!!!
