That's the trouble with relying on what you see through a camera lens in comparison with actually being at a game. Anything the camera misses, you miss. And with a low budget streaming service, you miss a lot!

I watched the full 45+4 and 45+10 with my own eyes thank you. I walked from Canons Park station in the rain. I brought a coffee for £2.50 and a bottle of diet coke for £2.50. oh yeah I had a E ticket and saw the kids in the corner of the stand giving us jip and one of the kids had an Arsenal shirt on.
So don't tell me that I watched it on the computer. I also heard a few booing and calling for Askey's head already. You wouldn't get that on the camera.

I could tell you were at the game from your comments. My post was in response to the 'Wreh 4 Awful' bit, that was part of a long post that got put up minutes after the game finished, by someone who obviously had watched on a screen. I was over-zealous with the cut and paste there, wasn't I? :? It was your reference to 'good off the ball moves' that prompted my own observation - that's just the sort of thing you don't always see watching on a computer or TV. Apologies for inadvertently giving offence.

I was at home listening on the radio, BTW. Will be at the Gateshead game on Tuesday.

Gateshead is on Saturday.

it could be normal pools service to resume with better home performances than away ones. i have never gone to an away game where expectations are higher than hope.

Can’t see us getting anything at Gateshead. Looked good against Newcastle in pre season friendly. However, think we will be better with the other new striker. Forget his name. Let’s hope Askey give them a roasting!

Horlicks, the Tuesday night home game is the following week - Maidenhead. Ah well, we'll be 6 points to the good and above mid-table by the end of that one rolf

It's at the Vic. Don't have to visit the running track till next March.

See the Heed have lost their top scorer Adam Campbell to Crawley.

It sounded pretty dire on the radio. My feeling that the defence looked disjointed, with no connection to the midfield and the attack static. Have we moved on from last year? Over to you who where at the game for more clarity

We were competitive in midfield which was a positive but Umerah and Wreh were crowded out when they received the ball or the ball went wide but only after a few pretty passes by which time the Barnet defence were set to deal with any cross that was attempted. When Barnet got possession in midfield they had an outball to their no. 11 (Kanu?) who caused chaos all afternoon: a lot of diving and ref conning but he was very quick. We had plenty of possession but didn't do enough with it until we were 3 down. Even then, I suspect Pools resurgance was a lot to do with Barnet sitting back on their comfortable lead. The Barnet defence gave the ball away from time to time particularly when we put them under pressure but this wasn't often enough over the length of the game. Looking at it objectively 3-2 flattered us not because we didnt compete, we did, but because our defence was worryingly deficient allowing far too many crosses into our box and to be fair, the crosses were top quality unlike Pools's crosses which were far fewer and almost always over hit.

A good day out and at least I saw two Pools goals.

think even in pre season games the defence looked a bit suspect even on short video replays that came up. on the other hand we looked like we have goals in the side, so maybe we should expect results like this away with hopefully similar scores at home but with the result in our favour.

I watched the stream and it was pretty dire from pools. Pedestrian in midfield, passing backwards or long balls forward. The two forwards did ok I thought with no service throughout , just trying to hold it up from long balls. We had a few chances but Barnet looked far more of a threat from midfield going forward. We still can't defend balls into the box, that said Mani looks like a good defender and just what we need

I agree Mr A - I always see it as a day out watching Pools on the road.

Firstly hope we don't embarrass ourselves such as Orient, Northampton usually, Notts County, Peterborough in recent years where we've conceded 4s and 5s,

Take a point like Forest Green (year they won the league) and on the odd occasion I'm properly ecstatic IF we win! rolf

Think gateshead are a very good side but one weakness is they seem to get a couple up in first half then give them back in the second. Maybe its a fitness issue sctatchinghead

Any manager will struggle under this regime, we just need to make sure we pick up some early points to avoid being in trouble later in the season. Hopefully Saturday we can improve somewhat.

How on earth has Saturdays display got anything to do with ‘this regime’. Only one person would come up with this statement. Probably been waiting all close season wishing for this display so he could criticise Raj.

If any Poolie wishes us to get beat they deserve a good hiding.
We are under a Regime of club up for sale and very low ambition standards.
Cultimating into that result.

What is it with all the negatives ?

Did you think we were going to win every game ?

Saturday we had 4 or 5 players well below par coupled with some dodgy decisions and that was about it.

Southend's 'regime' has collapsed completely. Their staff have been getting paid late for months, their best players have all walked away and they've only got 16 left, but they won 4-0 on Saturday against one of the NL's big money clubs.

Chairmen don't pick their teams nor play in them. Pools' manager and players don't have any of Southend's excuses. One game in and the pair of you are off again - you're starting to sound like sad obsessives.

Pruti needs to be dropped and yeh another big strong defender in there - he had a steady campaign for me in the FL but hes going to come up against more bigger shitehouses which needs sorting. Plus the referee is going to not give you anything as we seen at the weekend !

we need to wise up and need to be better in the center of the park - i dont want to mentioned his name (no and not Fevs) but Sylla would of been ideal and worked for us on saturday - we do miss a player like him. The big ding

It's not one game though is it. This has gone on for over 18 months.

Since when do we ever win the first game of the season? Probably happened a handful of times in my forty years following through thin and thinner. I remember 1 year (circa '95) when we won the first two games under Houchen and went on to have a shocker - as per!

We played a good Barnet side who finished 5th last season away from home. We had no devine right to win. Yes it's disappointing we lost and most would have taken a point beforehand, but it's ONE game FFS!

Until we've played ten games - you can't make any real judgement of how things will play out.

Had we got cuffed at SARFend (given the shit their in), Oxford City or Dorking then the Doom mongers may have had a point.

We are realistically not going to get a better manager in this league, given JAs already proven ability in and around this level. Me personally am glad he's already in the building, and now working with what is now pretty much his team.

Whilst I wasn't personally present at the match, JA seemed honest in his assessment of the performance - and probably now has a better idea, of what the shortcomings of the squad are.
But he at the very least must be given time and patience to work his magic!

one minute fans are moaning about our squad and needing a few better players to come in. then its shock and horror the team loses away from home at barnet. again expectations are far higher than what can be delivered.
