The hard part is speculating on which player to spend the money on though.

not when they have proved themselves at the club it isn,t. new ones being paid too much is down to recruitment and decisions about the players ability. if they want more than what the club thinks they are worth there is always the dor to walk back through. as for southend, they have always paid top wages because of their closeness to the london clubs paying double what other northern div.4 players were on in the 80,s.

Totally agree. If we have to let all out best players leave for free then we may as well turn the lights off, lock the doors and go home right now.

Stop showing a tad of Ambition n talking sense.
You will deeply offend the Loonies brigade.

Yes you are right JB, my mistake, thought I read somewhere a few weeks ago the 4th was the date and I thought that's American Independence Day.

100% agree with user name as my initials are JCB, must have been named after the heavy plant company based not far away from me.

Happy with new signings especially the Mansfield lad, more work needed but things looking up

Agreed. Wish we could get some clarification on the situation re Umerah and Sylla. Feaths still not made a decision either. What are they waiting for?

I am assuming all 3 will leave-be a huge plus if Sylla somehow reconciles but I don’t see it
Still need strengthening across the park but at least work being done and the signings make a little more sense than last year’s offerings

Also heard that takeover was very close, that a certain local radio presenter was involved.

Mike Amos was reporting on something whilst the bunker was down.

said a takeover was very close (imminent in fact) - meanwhile Rose Stoker has taken over as COO formerly Hobins position. Make of that what you will - id imagine the new owners would want their own man on the job. But she has been with us for some years and knows the club and Raj... has she made any differences ... who knows we dont find out who does what these days ! Hobin blew his own trumpet but look how much of that ended up as utter tosh! only thing he was good for was leaking transfer info to my mate.

the take over is rumoured to be Russ Green and Turner - backed with funding from young goffy and some yanks. Amos seems to historically have ears to the ground and knows people with this sort of thing so im a bit excited by it all - but we will see

Feaths wants another year too - been offered Guisley - Raj offered him shite deal according to Lidds

I'd heard the other day the takeover was complete but nothing announced so I'm unsure what's going on. I'm not sure it's a rumour now it's been pretty much confirmed by family members.

Went on the Pools website earlier to be greeted by a couple smiling- initially thought Bonanza- we've got new owners- only to read the article to find out they were from the Food bank!
Is it just me who made this error?

He was backed like no other manager in history before him----he did do ok--but no more than that.
He seems like a decent bloke and obviously cares about the club but his managerial record apart from his early one at pools where he was seriously backed is less than ordinary.

Turner came in when we were all but down and out and managed to keep us up, then it was a continuous upward curve for us. Quite an achievement regardless of backing. Plus he had us playing the most attractive football that I've seen in my time supporting Pools. Hard to believe that anyone can knock him for his 1st spell with us??

Turner did an excellent job of getting the play off seasons going. So called start of glory days.
Anyhow we are were we are so hopefully this rumoured takeover comes off.

If and I say if, it is Paul Gough I have no idea how financialy well off he is. He has obviously done exceptionally well with his business but would he be the sugar daddy we all crave? I do hope so as the family are great supporters of Pools.

only problem with having ex managers around is that they,d find it hard not to put there take on things when they go wrong. like us, it would be hard not to interfere.

I remember when he first arrived he said he was the type of player who left everything on the pitch. Whether he was playing good or not he insisted the minimum he would give the supporters was honesty and hard work. In his first season he did exactly what it said on the tin until January time when he started sulking like a 5yr old. This season he has been embarrassing with the sulking getting worse month on month. In my opinion I would get rid of this negative energy, we don’t need any sulky toddlers in this team. He sulked to such a level he has probably damaged his own carrier going forward. It's a definite no from me Len
