I once went to Middlesborough town hall with his son to see Chubby Brown after Ted had been given some free tickets and declined to attend for some reason  .
We went to a bar called Norma Jeans which was close to where Sainsburys is now.
All the bar maids were topless. :o
It was a true night of culture.

well at least it gave you something you remembered. doing the same today with a non funny woke commedian and a diverse bar persons you,d have forgot the night after waking up the next day.

I think those types of MPs are few and far between nowadays, most modern day MPs seem to be History, Economic, Political, Law, graduates parachuted into a constituency they've never visited let alone lived in. The days of decent MPs going to London to represent their constituency have been replaced by politicians who toe the party line first and foremost.
Who was the last MP who ever tried to do anything meaningful for Hartlepool as far as I can remember is Ted Leadbitter!!

yes they are a dying breed with only a few that exist now. might have been lucky but we have a decent one down here and the same in the last place i lived. think hartlepool as always seem to draw the short straw in this and everything. by the sounds of the present one it seems there wasn,t even a barrel to scrape when she was put forward.

It has never mattered who our MP has been, for some reason decent size companies don’t want to invest in Hartlepool, is it because they think all people from Hartlepool are thick ?

Probably more to do with the fact that Governments won't encourage investment with grants and tax breaks as they do elsewhere.

Labour never invested in Hartlepool because they knew it was a safe seat as the electorate would always vote Labour because their Nanna and Grandad did. Because of this Hartlepool was seen as a lost cause by the Tories, no amount of investment would have changed the electorates minds.

that was the old labour party they voted for. doubt our ancestors would have ever voted for todays version of it. no comparison to a party that fought for the rights of workers to todays one thats not sure what a woman is.

A few Tories abstained or didn’t conveniently didn’t turn up including Sunak surely they should have been made to turn up for the vote ? Starmer should have been there also instead of appeasing the tree huggers announcing all the money labour are going to spend on developing green energy but no mention of the infrastructure or the NHS in his speech ?

They might have read the migrants thread on here and thought it best to avoid Hartlepool. “Sink them on sight”.

you would think starmer was doing his upmost to lose the next general election. more and more you see or hear from him is only main thing with him is being an alternative to anyone who hates tories and just vote against them.

Sunak was entertaining a foreign leader and no way is Starmer going to get into debate over problems he and his party know they haven't got a solution for. I'm amazed that you constantly expect politicians do do the right thing, Jamie.

Personally I think Starmer will lose Labour a few votes with people switching to the Greens and the Lib Dem’s with THE odd ballS one voting for Reform U.K.

She's not my MP but if I was keen to see what my MP did, I would ask him.
Give it a try and see if she responds. You never know you might get a chance of another stick to bash her with.
I think the Country has bigger problems to solve than spending valuable Parliament time debating a fait accompli and then conspiring a vote as a point scoring exercise. I think we need to be concerned that His majesty's opposition and probably the next Government's blatant demonstration of where their priorities lie.
They screamed and shouted when, on previous occasions, Bojo didn't immediately resign and, on this occasion when he did immediately resign, they howled again. If this is a demonstration of what we have to look forward to, then God help us.
However we can always turn our attention to voting records.

Top and bottom she bottled it coming up with a lame excuse, she didn’t abstain, she didn’t turn up, she had more important things to do, a former PM lied to Parliament lied to Parliament and she had the decision to make wether she agreed with commission or not, did she or didn’t she ?The comments onThe Mail article have been turned off, I wonder why ?

if the whole affair from start to finish was the only thing people had to worry about in their lives we would be in a very good place. what a pm did breaking the restrictions at the covid time should be of little importance to those having to find a few hundred quid a month on their mortgage, using a foodbank or sleeping rough. the buggers will always lie and twist the truth, its part of their DNA to do the job.

And the £100 million already spent on the Covid enquiry, what is the end result going to be, are the people who supplied faulty PPE going to be asked to pay the money back, will the people who fraudulently got money from the furlough scheme be made to pay the money back, will people like Michelle Mone and co pay some of the millions back they got back, will anyone be prosecuted over the tailed Track and Trace system costing £40 billion ? Answer to all these questions a big NO !

The only good that can come out of the Covid enquiry is the opportunity to learn lessons but, as usual, it will all be about the blame game and those who do the blaming would probably have not fared any better.
It's amazing how much we spend in this country looking for somebody to kick.
As I've said on numerous occasions in the past, when you successfully get rid of a politician all you do is replace him/her with another politician.

James O’Brians take on it, he says an act of cowardice by the MPs who didn’t turn up for the vote.
