First sensible post in this thread, do people 'get off' on these made up doomsday posts?

It' not even a rumours thread, it's season 23/24 made up bollocks thread.

I hope your right Snowy, Singh could put Pools into admin, wouldn’t cost him nought as it’s a separate company from his own business, he wouldn’t show any remorse either.

I hope I am wrong, but I’ve heard more silly rumours in the past week, that it’s driven me to wonder if drugs have been legalised but I missed the news…..but then it’s the close season .

Did you not see what happened to darlo under Singh? Did you not hear the threat of shut up or else from him? Remember this is also a guy that claims its play off budgets when everything contradicts it. Raj Singh is more than capable of putting us into administration.

Yes, absolutely saw what happened Mr billinghampoolie.
Sorry to say a certain Mr Reynolds sunk HMS Darlo without trace.
I say "sorry" only because I do rather miss the local derby games.
Mr Singh came in very late in the day but couldn't save Darlo despite his best efforts.
Self entitled fans wanted him to empty his bank account, but it would have been like trying to re-float the Titanic.
That's the truth of the matter I'm afraid.
A complete no hoper.. but the Darlo boys are so bitter the story gets twisted beyond recognition at every opportunity.
Still upsets them and will always be the case I am sure, but some believe anything they are told on social media.
As for "shut up or else you idiots" totally understand Mr Singhs feelings on it.
Its not nice when people are posting things like "sell the club you fat greedy c..t" that I saw posted on the NWC site which has since been taken down.
That's shocking especially given Mr Singh saved the club when no one else was interested.
And at the Crawley game I heard people calling him all sorts, with his son and daughter there too.
Not very nice at all.
He's only human after all.
So completely understand his perspective.
Of course he has made mistakes, who hasn't in life, especially if you are the chairman of a football club.
But he has owned up and had the balls to come out and apologise in public.
In my opinion, for what its worth, I think its best to listen to what Sir Jeff says about the bloke, as he's in a position to know.
Rather than the know-it-alls on here and elsewhere.

I think the darlo fans in the know will tell you a totally different story. I can imagine abuse is not nice when he did save the club. No one can deny he did a great thing at the time. But let's be honest since Bristol he has pressed the self destruct button.

Some utterly crazy decisions, anyone can apologise after the inevitable happened but let's be honest here, most of us saw what was coming last season. Going into pre season with 8 players on a tour, signing Scottish players some weren't even getting games for there own clubs.

Then staff who 90 percent want to jump ship at the first opportunity. We are going to have problems with this guy if he doesn't get the value he wants.

As for next year's team every pre season or transfer period we are promised these great players and none of them turn up. Where will we shop this year national league north? League of Wales? It's anyones guess.

Pools will shop where we have always shopped apart from the IOR years in the bargain basement.
That wont change unless someone with money to burn takes us over and bankrolls us.
The Hollywood duo didn't want us because our potential financial resources and catchment area was too small.
A small social and economically deprived town, with a small club that has always struggled to survive, stuck too near to Boro, Sunderland and Newcastle.
Wrexham's catchment area of North Wales reported to be 750,000 as compared to our town population of 90,000, so far more potential to grow.
That's the sad reality I'm afraid.
Call it lack of ambition as many times as you want, but our financial resources have always been and always will be limited.
And ultimately that dictates where we do our shopping.

I never brought that excuse, look at London, all the big clubs and grounds and they compete. Goes for Manchester area, Liverpool, Birmingham and all the Midlands (Nottingham, Derby & Leicester) they all have big and small clubs near them.
Teesside has a population of 500,000+ with one league club. Boro can only draw in an average crowd of 25,000 and don't think 30,000 (10,000 each) travel from Hartlepool to Boro, Newcastle nor Sunderland to watch them.

So the logic behind that thinking is and has always been floored in my eyes. A lot of people in the town can't afford to go, work Saturday or just clearly can't be arsed to go, as they not interested in football. The club needs to think how it can attract new fans and families to part with the cash. Ground improvement would be one, bigger family stand, better facilities.

The thing I'm wondering is, who benefits from a rumour that the Pools are going to be wound up that starts a week or so before season tickets go on sale? Certainly not Raj!

If it really comes from inside the club, whoever is behind it may as well go public. After all, they're going to be out of work in a couple of weeks anyway!
Or is there some serious mischief making going on?

The Hollywood duo don't need to make excuses to anyone.
It's the reason they gave for deciding on choosing Wrexham over us and the other eight clubs on their list.
Not that they need to give reasons for their decisions either.
But they have.

How cares about them. Personally they can have Wrexham, Wrexham is worst and smaller than Hartlepool. At least we have a lot of History in the towns.
I'm personally sick and tired of hearing the crap from and about them. Paul Mullin is better than Messi and Ronaldo according to Ryan. As it's the only player he knows of.

That's the thing, if Raj pulls the plug, he'll lose all the parachute payments, T.V money from TNT sports, Season Tickets sales, Sponsorship deals and everything. Plus he'll lose all his investments and someone else comes in a busy the club for a couple of quid off the Administrator.

You’re playing the numbers game here….the actual town of Wrexham as opposed to the unitary authority area is 100,000…and not vey different from Hartlepool.
The idea of a 750,000 catchment area is another joke…applying that rule to Dagenham and Redbridge would give it an 8,000,000 catchment area, meaningless because if you couldn’t tap into for the pat 100 years you’re not going to do it now.
Stop knocking this town, we’re good at abusing ourselves……they’re Wrexham, not Palm Beach…Wrexham’s ‘glory’ will last a long as their sugar daddy’s interest…. the reality will hit home when the fairy tale season hits the buffers of life where the winning stops and something else grabs their imagination.

Singh won’t lose anything the club will, how much money has Singh invested in Pools,
I would say nought, the club is run through a company called Clarence 18 I believe where all the money from Season Ticket sales, sponsorship gets paid into. Whilst Singh owns 95.6% and Jeff Stelling 4.4% i am not sure legally what access he would have to any cash in the company apart from a salary or dividends,

Raj most have invested some money into the club over the years. I can't see Pools been self efficient. If we are we be turning a profit or break even. So he must be invested and putting up cash, or we be under investigation from the EFL on Financial Fair play, as our out goings would be a lot higher than our percentage income. Unless all the players are on £20,000 per year and Management on £25,000 per year. Plus if Pools is ran through a third party company, registered else where, it's not Raj club to sell technically. It be like selling a rented house or car. sctatchinghead

Singh could sell his 95.6% share in Clarence 18, I find it hard to believe he is bankrolling Pools, he is a millionaire but not a multi millionaire, I am sure in another post it was mentioned Pools had made a profit ?

Just quoting the thinking of the blokes with all the money.
Sure you're right and they are talking shite and don't have a clue.
Time will tell.

"Take another example of a club we discussed: Hartlepool United. They didn’t score very well on geography because they were so close to Middlesbrough, so close to Sunderland and so close to Newcastle, competing with a lot of big, big clubs."
“There also wasn’t that huge amount of population there. Whereas in North Wales, there are about 750,000 people. A decent catchment area and a big, dormant fanbase that we felt wouldn’t take much to activate.

I take the reference to a 750,000 catchment area with a massive pinch of salt as they’re so close to Merseyside the need for top quality football is well met.
Their average attendance this successful, over hyped season is approx 9, 900, we could get near that without millionaires if we had a similar season….looks like 740, 100 of the catchment area didn’t give a toss…..
The opinion of a couple of Hollywood stars on the functioning of football clubs is something I can’t take too seriously…..Amy problem can generally be solved by throwing money at it….. but how long will the bubble last.

Absolute cobblers ??
Mr Snowy... you obviously live in one of the nicer areas of the town with a garden and a summerhouse.
Personally, I have no reason to doubt statistics over the last 50 years which consistently point to my town suffering more social and economic deprivation than most parts of the UK.
My own experience having lived through the closing of the steelworks, shipyards and surrounding collieries does not lead me to dispute those facts.
In the eighties at the height of the Thatcher depression years 30 per cent of the town was unemployed.
Enjoy your summerhouse today while the sun is shining.
The world is not flat by the way..believe me.

If Pools had been taken over had the amounts been spent on like wrexham, with All thefuss going with it, we would also be pulling in 8000 to 10000 crowds, if our ground was upgraded that is. Fans love jumping on a successful bandwagon, thing with Pools is our potential has never even been touched. Let's remember under Singh back in the football league we were pulling in 5500 and we couldn't win for toffee away. Things would snowball if we were beating all in front of us like Wrexham.

Jack Lambert at Darlington who I believe Pools were watching at the same time as Dodds has said he is pursuing other offers could he be joining us 16 goals last season.

I think they have a point about the catchment area. They are the only club in North Wales and so the potential is huge. If they become successful and with the glamour from the owners, Welsh kids are going to want to support them. The Welsh are becoming more and more proud of being Welsh and I think will get behind a successful Welsh team.
Pools wouldn’t be able to take fans from the big 3 but Wrexham should be able to take plastic Welsh Liverpool fans.

Are you on something again?
More fantasy land stuff.
In 2005 arguably our best ever year in our entire history, we were only pulling in 5000 crowds, despite being in league one, winning all those games and all that momentum.
That wasn't because the ground hadn't been upgraded, and there were queues of poolies outside who couldn't get in.
The Vic capacity is around 7000 and always will be while HBC own it.
It doen't need to be upgraded because we ain't going to be pulling in 8000 to 10000 crowds anytime in our lifetimes, and most likely never.
Get real mate.

Like I've just said only 18 month ago we were pulling in 5500 on zero investment no ground improvements ,nothing. Every single team in the country that's had an upgrade in facilities or new ground has seen a massive rise in attendances one small example doncaster, doubled their attendances, why would Pools be any different.

You tell me to get real we have just averaged 4600 while sat 2nd bottom of the country. So do you not think crowds would significantly rise if we were sat top of the league and buying players for 200k?

The ior days are gone we pull in far bigger crowds or is it the crowds aren't fiddled like they used to be? We would get 6000 if we were top of the league now without any Hollywood superstars, so to think with all the publicity we couldn't muster another 2000 to 3000 on top of that is bordering on defeatist.

you have hit the nail on the head there, the welsh thing. fans have to travel all the way down to south wales to watch another welsh club and neither of the three are actually doing great at the moment. even in the past shouts of england and wales can be heard in games where wrexham are involved in and thats before the yanks were ever heard of. unlike the english i think the taffs are more proud of their country and wrexham are regarded as a representative of wales as well as a club in their own right. they might have the best songs there but i do not want em to have the best football also.

I think you are right Mr Porter.
And don't Wrexham have the added bonus of potential access to European competitions ?
By winning the Welsh cup or something daft like that.
Or has all that all been scrapped now??

Have you actually been to North Wales..? All along the coast they usually have scouse accents and the interior is a bit sparse…’Welsh’ Liverpool fans aren’t gonna have their heads turned by a Hollywood phase at Wrexham…people don’t support a Welsh team because they’re Welsh, if that were the case , Hartlepudlians would only support Pools, it doesn’t happen in the real world.

Enjoy your summerhouse today while the sun is shining.

the only problem is that at the moment we are in a mini version to the years after WW2 where fans were starved of live football for years and we have been starved of it for over a year due to covid rules. eventually they dropped off and i feel the present gates also will with whats on offer at many clubs and not just pools. the rink end does need some development in time but there would be nothing worse than 4,000 fans rattling around in say a 12,000 capacity vic. or somewhere like halifax in a two sided ground.

they may not get long time welsh liverpool fans to change their allegance as no other club would change ours. however there will be the uncommitted who get drawn into the hollywood thing and give it a go. people seem persuaded now by hype more than ever before and if it gives em more so called friends and likes on social media they,ll go for anything.

I get that but that's not my point. I'm saying if we had the wrexham investment, sat top of the league we would also pull fans in from all over the North East. Crikey we had nearly 7000for crawley at the bottom.

Did you stay in North Wales very long Mr Snowy?
Or were you there on holiday perhaps or just driving through?
I spent a year of my life living there and don't recognise the scouser reference at all.
Spent many a time in a group of people socially who delighted speaking Welsh in my presence knowing I hadn't a clue what the f/k they were talking about.
Very proud people in North Wales around Gwynedd.
You underestimate I think the nature of the beast.
Not scouse infested by any means.

When Wrexham were dumped into the Blue Square Premier their were only averaging 2700 for years. Only in the last 5 seasons has the average crowd grown.
Fact Hartlepool is better, it's by the sea, not Landlock.
Fact Hartlepool has more history in the Headland than Wrexham.
Fact Hartlepool has 6 direct train to London, Wrexham 0
Fact Hartlepool/Teesside has more population per square mile than Wrexham.
Fact Hartlepool is a better club than Wrexham, it's taken Wrexham to buy a league one/Championship team to get out. They just did too, with Notts right behind them.
Do you think Mullin will stay at League two Wrexham now Wigan, Bolton, Blackpool and Potentially Stockport closer to Liverpool are/Could be in league one?
It will all fall apart slowly for them. Let Wrexham have the headlines.

doubt the proximity to the sea, history and population of the area has anything to do with which is the better football club. until quite recently pools and them have both had similar history. doing sod all for years with the glory years somewhere inbetween. at least wrexham are an established old time league club and the yanks could have followed a new fashion of finding the most obscure non league club possible and done the same with them. if they,d have done it say at billingham then we would have something to really worry about and not a club at the other side of britain that many of us have never visited. i have only been once just to tick the ground off.

Done every single mile of the Welsh Coast since 98….the wife likes it.
But explains your ‘affection’ for them.
The one good thing about Hartlepool is we don’t think of ourselves as the chosen ones, like plenty on this island, we just get on with it and avoid male voice choirs,

I have no particular "affection" for the Welsh Mr Snowy.
Apart from one Taff who I remain madly in love with, despite all these years apart.

Stick with what you know instead of what you don’t. Anything you have said about the Darlo situation is complete bollocks.
Don’t let Singh do the same to you.

That's fair enough. I was just making the point of as a town in my eyes. Like a lot of Pools fans, who either live in the town still or born and raised in the town and now live else where in the world.
Hartlepool is better than Wrexham. As a town. :-o

I'll probably shot down in flames for saying that or be sued in this Woke society. banghead

Raj Singh can do no wrong in some eyes we shall see what they think of raj when he doesn't get the over inflated price he will no doubt want. Funny he has totally screwed darlo over and took Pools down with one of the worst teams ever and yet still people can't see the problems that lie ahead.

Stick with what you know instead of what you don’t. Anything you have said about the Darlo situation is complete bollocks.
Don’t let Singh do the same to you.

Raj Singh can do no wrong in some eyes we shall see what they think of raj when he doesn't get the over inflated price he will no doubt want. Funny he has totally screwed darlo over and took Pools down with one of the worst teams ever and yet still people can't see the problems that lie ahead.

Its like some of our fans have no ambitions.
Plenty of sense in your posts regarding the potential our club has under decent ownership.

Had the yanks come to Pools then 10000 upgrade capacity would of been needed. Some excellent away followings in league One.

Different era now from IOR days. Loads more teenage fans all over the country.
The Yankees will earn more money than theve pur into Wrexham long term.
Good buisness men for sure.

Oh, still so bitter after all these years Mr Darlo Loan Star?
Such a shame.
Don't look back in anger, I heard the Tin Shed say.

No time for idiots who don’t know their arse from their elbow regarding what went on at Darlo. Let’s see how the likes of you feel about Coxall for example in 10 years time.
