might make a few think twice about dropping down into non league because of what some clubs are paying there. on the whole the proposals seem little different to what many have to put up with working in normal jobs.

It’s not really a normal job though. From a brief look through here I think it looks like a poor idea and in practice I wonder who it’s going to benefit? If all 60 or so clubs do it, and they all reap a little bit of benefit, who’s really gained?

We know who’s going to lose out though, the badly injured player/players.

still do not see any difference between a footballer losing their living through either injury playing the game or another illness off the field than say a lad who has served his apprenticeship as a plumber but gets the same bit of bad luck.

Plumbers and other tradespeople are not normally finished work by age 35.

unless they get injured at work or contract some disease stopping em working like i was saying. when footballers have to retire through age its not the end of their life but the start of another. they,ll have made far more contacts whilst in the game that might give em a job than an out of work tradesman has. some players also start planning their future for years before they know they have to retire and the PFA gives em help and advice. the man in the street only has the job centre.

I had to "redesign" my job 3 times due to redundancy etc and have never claimed a penny in benefits my whole working life so why should a footballer with the potential to make millions be any different.

It’s bollocks, all the player has to do is specify his own contract before signing.
