I've said to a few people he's a good player and been laughed at. Even though he's not scared to take on his man and has scored 3 goals for us, one against the leaders (unlucky today) Colchester and the winner against Doncaster.

I can't help myself, but think, maybe if Curle gave him more game time, like 30/40 minutes we might be in a better place.

Or is it just me as I think he's a decent player. I hope he'll hang around next season either L2 or NL and gets more game time.

Quite right and shows the difference a good manager/coach can make for many of these players. JA has instilled confidence and much more. Whatever happens Raj needs to give JA a minimum 2 year contract

He holds onto the ball too much and is very rough, that being said he offered something different today and is well ahead of the likes of Grey

He had no chance under Hartleys disgraceful lazy slapdash approach and was never a Curle player
Can offer something from the bench and has talent with proper coaching,

Sick as fuck Askey didn’t get given the job 3 months back, not saying he
Is the second coming of Guardiola but seems a competent manager at this level

Askey is a man manager. He gets his message across and has his expectations of players, on top of which he undoubtedly encourages his players to perform to his way of playing. This was the type of bloke we needed after Challinor, seems we got there in the end ….. eventually.

been calling for him getting possibly his final chance a few weeks back. for once i can bask in the glory of being right after yesterday. i,d never start with him but the ideal super sub against tiring defences.

was askey actually in the running for the job when curle got it. possibly wes was too young to be a curle player as his seemed to be blokes he could talk about the good old days together when he played against them.

Curle ball involved the ball being punted over Mcdonalds head, feeding off scraps and second balls which isn't his game. He looked shite.

Askey ball involves playing the ball into his feet where he has 5-10 yards to run at his man. He looked good.

Football is a simple game.

a simple game totally complicated by pundits and those involved in the game to try to complicate it for fans and some players.

He's not had much of a look in with the system we have been using, he is definitely a good impact player as yesterday showed. When he came on it changed the game and gave Orient something different to deal with. For me we should probably bin off 3-5-2 at home and go 4-4-2 as we need wins. Start off positive and on the front foot, end of the day we are conceding goals with 5 at the back so might as well go for it!.

Yep we all said this after the game - what an absolute breath of fresh air he seemed. His first immediate impact was to cut inside his man and fired what was probably our first shot on target all game at the keeper ! He did everything right ! he tore their RB a new one and subsequently they dragged him off (with a yellow card too a think?)... this is what we need from impact players.

Agree we should of seen more of him... instead KC thought it would be better to throw Dolan on... or even worse that useless young kid from Blackpool.. like how can you pick him to start over Sylla... fundamentally this is why where we are... KC has screwed us over massively with his game plans and subs... plus a whole host of other things but you get the picture !

Maybe go 442 like others have said but am sure Askey likes 4-3-3 and McDonald would sit nice on that left hand side cutting in. Anyways its not broke so dont fix it - same again this weekend with McDonald coming on to stretch the defence. His balls into the box where very decent too ! ive always liked the lad but at times maybe thought this wasnt his level - he shown on saturday that it still is and he still has more to give to this club !

where is this Kiernan fella at also ? he was touted as a half decent winger and the Grimsby lot really rated him by all accounts

Looks like Hastie isn’t going get another game then if McDonald becomes a regular, has Hastie even been on the bench recently ?

I suspect they like to make it look complicated so you regard them as knowledgeable experts on a level far above our humble comprehension….it isn’t.
Any well drilled, disciplined team with commitment and belief can go far.

Not since Curle got the boot.

Wes McDonald has shown plenty of times that he has the ability to beat a man and get a shot or cross off. He started a fair few games under Hartley but Curle didn't seem to fancy him and in the end froze him out of the squad, never mind the first 11.

Good to see McDonald back as an impact sub but he does tend to look like a one trick pony after a while when he starts games. Typical winger! Depends whether John Askey can get him to up his game enough to risk starting him in a 4-3-3. As Pools are well and truly in shit or bust territory it's probably worth a try. We didn't look like scoring till he came on on Saturday.

at least he has a trick unlike a lot who go through games being totally invisable.

I could see it coming after their failure to make it to the North East Norfolk European qualifiers. Gutted.

McDonald will probably stay as just that... the impact Sub... he has a decent amount of pace and can take his man on....baring that you can see why he hasnt featured under our other managers. Doesnt really track back and defend and is very small to be battling it out for headers. But on the flip side like ive mentioned earlier he likes to shoot and can cross a ball - its all we need just now and something we have not seen that much of under the clown Curle.
