It’s looking desperate now. Effectively we are now six points adrift given the goal difference. Other than Colchester continuing to implode I can’t see a way back.

Just to brighten our day even further, Colchester just equalized against the Trannies.

This is it. Askey came in with the toughest run of games of the season in front of us and Crawley just behind us with a bag load of games in hand. It was always going to be a tough task and it's such a shame, if the move was made even just a month earlier things could have been oh so difference.

Cant fault the effort.
But its Skill that wins games.
Thats why its 9 games without a win n 6 all season.
Lack of Ambition is why we are were we are.
Sad but True.
Pools RIP.

We look like a team who will give poor sides a hammering.

Next 4 games all winnable as none are as good as Orient or Bradford, not unrealistic for us to pick up 9-10 points then the table will look very different.

Eventually we are going to run out of straws to clutch. No criticism of Askey, he has achieved a miraculous change in the team's performance but the mountain is just too steep.

Given the games that Crawley and Colchester have compared to a dramatically improving Pools. I have some optimism despite all logic saying that we’re doomed.

Both colchester and crawley have a few very winnable games next, think we need 6 wins from 8 to stay up….hard to see that happening

7 games in April, we need to win 6 draw 1, to give us 51pts. I'm still hoping that Colchester will fail in the dieing games.

Askey's players are showing a never say die attitude even if some fans aren't.

The team 5 points clear at the top of the division was hanging on for a draw at the end. If there's any justice at all Pools are due for a big win - just let it be next Saturday :eusa-pray:

Pity Ferguson picked today to have his worst game of the season. Bloke in front of me was going his ends first half because he reckoned the Orient No.7 was one footed - Fergie kept letting him go past him on the right to put dangerous crosses in. Second half and the one time he cut inside he hit an unstoppable shot. Bang goes another fan theory!

4,500 Poolies in today. Hope there's another thousand on the gate for Swindon. Not sure why some of those who dropped off coming in the winter haven't been tempted back yet. Since Askey came in, every game is on a knife edge, Pools are playing good football and you never know, the extra support might make all the difference. UTP & NSD

Getting 5000 sat 2nd from bottom having not won for ages is incredible really. We used to struggle to get that when we were top, though it was back in the days when crowds were probobly fiddled. I think we need a win to get a few hundred back or an offer to fill the ground.

or even 2 wins and 3 defeats. draw the rest and we,ll be unbeaten but down. mind you i doubt the players yesterday didn,t give everything they had and deserved the 3 points against the side 5 points clear at the top who had nothing much left but foul and use as much shithouse tactics available to see the game out. in the end their fans would have been happy to hear the final whistle and scuttle off home with a point. if pools had been top and them second bottom we,d have won 3-1 with the woodwork helping us.

Playground stuff Kev. You're not still at school by any chance? That would explain a lot.

I've been a Pools supporter for 50 years. That's basically about supporting the team on the pitch. Unlike you, I couldn't give a toss who the chairman is, unless he's a complete con man.

It was tough being a Pools fan in 93/94, after Gary Gibson ruined our club and Pools had to put out a team of teenagers in the Third Division. When Pools's only ever present was Paul Wratten, whose next club was Bishop Auckland!

It was even worse watching conman Coxhall pull the guts out of Pools six seasons ago, so bad that a side with Carson, Amond and Thomas in it got beat by Orient's youth team!

In your warped idea of being a Pools' supporter it's all about the chairman, not the team. You can't even bear to have other fans point out that the current side is playing well enough to be worth getting behind. stpid

Hes made a great post - no sarcasm.

Some fans thrive on misery, no clue why. Thankfully its only 1% of fans and the fans who actually attend matches (where they can of course) show their support for hard work and now some quality football thrown in.

Those fans have hope, thats all you need in life, a bit of hope.

The 1% will shout loudest its the end of the world, best to ignore them, its more of a reflection on them than anything else.

I hope John Askey will deliver the 4-5 wins we need to survive, its possible. Then the 1% crawl back under their rock until the next crisis, when the negative mindset has credibility again.

Bizarre situation currently, we may well go down, but there is a unity and a style of football that shouldnt belong at a potential relegation team.

its just modern day football unlike when i was a kid. we knew all the players but had no idea who was the chairman or who any of the directors were and could not care less. over the years these people have become more important if only in their own lunchtime and everything is about sodding money and what they can put in or take out in the time they are with us. pre gibson i have no clue who owned pools, were directors and still could not give a damn.

and give us part of the rink end at these reduced prices as i cannot see them bringing more than say 100. need to make it the best atmosphere we can with as many poolies as possible inside the vic. frighten the buggers to death like the orient left sided defender on loan from brighton looked yesterday who froze quicker than scott of the antactic.

Sterry didn't have a bad game yesterday. Most of Pools' attacking play comes down the right hand side with Kemp, Sterry and Dodds involved. Sterry was involved in both Pools' goals at Bradford too.

The one thing that has changed with him is he's playing 90 minutes every week. Thought Curle was a bit soft with him with all his 'Jamie knows when he's feeling right' crack. Askey has got him feeling right for every game

UTP & NSD

A decent, nice uplifting post. Thanks for that.

Quality post from Pools n Sings Number 1 fan.

You can't even bear to have other fans point out that the current side is playing well enough to be worth getting behind. stpid

Spot on!!!!

If we are playing in the conference next season and we have no decent players left, then maybe just maybe some fans might realise who's fault it was, not some out of depth Scottish manager or Keith curle.

I thought we played bloody well for the last 20 minutes yday best I've seen since Rotherham hut it also doesn't change the facts we haven't won for 9 games.

This manager is doing bloody well on what he was given, but it just shows how hard a job he has when we're basically celebrating getting 5 points from 15. I don't think we're down yet I still believe we can do it,but with stockport away last game and being already 4 points behind it's going to take some doing.

I think next Saturday is now shit or bust. No more near misses or hard luck stories we simply have to win it. Like Accrington says if the people running this club have any sense they will do what they possibly can to get 6000 to 7000 there for these games coming up.

Personally don't think u can knock fergies commitment, the quality is lacking a bit just now though. Last week a ball bounced up near the half way line, Bradford player went in with his foot but Ferguson went in with his head and won the ball, could have got a real clout, that's commitment, I don't think sterry would have done that. Sterry looks like he's holding back from challenges not wanting to get hurt but he's still good on the ball and wants to get involved that way.

Probably the best 30 mins of football we've played this season yesterday, had table topping orient penned in and they got away with a draw. If only one of those chances had gone in. Definitely been massive improvement since Askey has come in, actually have a game plan and look to play some football. Even if we go down I think he needs to stay and build something.

Lets ram the Vic for the last home games.
The club can help and idle twats like me need to get a bomb up their arse and get along.
Exiles can help too by getting to a game or two with family and friends.

Looking at games left , salford and Stockport away don’t look winnable, so we need to win the rest !

I didn't expect I'd make the match yesterday but I came home a day early from a weekend away and was glad I did. The second half, apart from the inevitable earl goal given to the opposition, I thought was excellent, with a little rub of the green we would have won the game. Like previous posters have said if we had got rid of Curle earlier, or better still given Askey the job sooner, we wouldn't be in this mess. There's always a few twists and turns, upsets, surprises call it what you will but we must keep the faith that some good luck is overdue and arrives with a flourish to see us through and survive. NSD!!!!

Sterry is ‘looking to the far horizon’ and has been for most of the season and boy does it show. I reckon he’ll not be around next season regardless of whether we go down or stay up.

I doubt very much that Pools have a single fan left who doesn't know that the chairman's poor judgement wasted all the momentum Pools had from winning promotion, from appointing a youth team coach to replace Challinor through to wasting last summer with a late and bad managerial appointment and starting this season with a cobbled together squad.

That's a given. Where are the posts saying otherwise?

Meantime, Pools still have a season to try and salvage.
Was this January's transfer window recruitment better than the previous one and last summer's fiasco? 100%
Have Pools finally made another decent managerial appointment after Challinor? 100%

Let's just back Askey and this group of players in the games Pools have left and see if they can achieve mission impossible before starting the post-mortem, eh?
