Half Time Observations

Walsall much better than us and surprised they aren't higher in the league
We are better than we have been and at least trying to play football, which isnt easy as Walsall pressing high up very well
We have nothing up front-men against boys with their centre backs
Ive been critical of Hartley but hes been better today
Kiernan doing his best but he's not a right wing back and Walsall have noticed as well
Pruti having a poor game
Sylla and Feather doing ok in midfield
I wish we were nastier--no checking if their players are ok when they fall--more complaining to the ref--Hamilton and Jennings should be leaving their foot in against their centre backs and taking a booking
I take back what I said bout our keeper doing better on these crosses than Killip would.

We are better but still not good enough--only see 1 winner at half time and we look like we are going down

No arguments on any of that except the going down but. Crawley and Harrogate seem determined to steal the second spot. Much like the alleged great escape season, no matter how bad we are another team is focussed on being worse.

It isnt though--they are trying to play a bit just up against a better side.

Once we learn how to keep the back door shut, our chances will improve dramatically.
Good point in the end.
Maybe Askey is lucky, we could do with a lot more of it.

Jesus do you refuse to go to christenings because the same person will eventually have a funeral ?

Yes we are shite and likely going down but if that last few mins doesn’t give some joy why be a supporter

The downs and ups of supporting Pools. But I really enjoyed that. Burger was OK too.

Came back from 2 goals down last week & did again today, shows the players haven't given up, neither should we.

Rochdale also drew & Crawley got beat, we are a point further away from relegation than we were at 3pm & a point closer to safety as Harrogate also got beat, so we move closer to them.

Tuesday Crawley are away at Tranmere. Fingers crossed. With any luck it might be one of their games in hand blown away. I know I am clutching at straws but straws are all we've got.

Rochdale got a point, but the rest around us all lost, Crawley shipping five, so it could have been worse.

If Curle had still been in charge I'd have given today a miss, but thought I'd check out 'John Askey's Blue and White Army' as you never know how long that will last either

Not going to pretend an undeserved draw feels like a victory, but at least we didn't lose when all the teams with games in hand on Pools were managing to get beat.

Positives - Dan Kemp was maybe the best player on the field.

On the other hand, the defence is no better than it was at the start of the season. Still shipping goals for fun. Today we could have been 3 down after 30 minutes.
As for the actual goals, Foran and Niang both in 1 on 1s with an attacker, both falling over in front of them. banghead banghead

I'm sure Askey will get the team better organised, but I'm not sure what he can do about the lack of quality at the back. I certainly wouldn't rule out Lacey featuring again if he ever gets declared fit!

A point I certainly didn't expect on 88 mins so I will take it. Poor at the back yet again but overall performance wasn't anywhere near as bad as Tuesday, least there was a bit of fight. On a positive note we picked up a point without 3 of our best players in sterry, Dodds and Umerah. On a not so positive note, Featherstone is so slow that after his penalty challenge got turned away he ran after the ref to complain but he couldn't catch Mr Drysdale!

Well, Askey has a decision to make doesn't he? At least next week Sterry will be available unless of course he breaks a nail in training.
I was wondering about Cooke as well, he must be nearing a return by now.

since seeing him after he arrived and since i tend to agree. watching them both run is like watching a slug v snail race. if anyone has the stats i imagine murray wins more headers.

know its a comeback point but we,d have had an extra one this week with 2 clean sheets and no goals for us. last two managers could not sort the defence out but hope askey can.

You’re asking a lot of Askey….I suspect the only option is having them put to sleep ( in football terms, although….?), you’d do it for your dog if he was suffering….. difference is, you’d have fond memories of the dog.

I was at Peterborough for the 4-3 comeback win and two things came to mind first being the heatand the away end running out of drinks and secondly a pools supporter having a bet on the result when we were behind and getting odds like 250/1 and the bookie having to go to the bank before paying out.
