Whoever comes in must know they are drinking from a poisoned chalice. I would guess any manager worth his salt would give the Pools job a wide berth. Give to Sweeney till the end of the season then recruit a solid NL manager in the summer.

In the summer they may be able to recruit the players they want within reason and may be able to unload some of the dead wood. They would then have a full season to show what they can do. Anyone taking on the job now knows that relegation is almost certain. They are lumbered with a bloated and limited squad and only 13 games left mostly against promotion chasing opposition. While no reasonable person would blame it on them, there is plenty of scope for angry and disappointed fan backlash as relegation looms. Oh and of course Raj having a reputation(rightly or wrongly) for sacking managers at the drop of a hat.

So they would jump at the chance now but didn't want to know in the summer when Hartley was appointed after a very long wait?

There’s always someone out there ready to ride on the tigers back despite the very obvious drawbacks.

Yep would be a hero in this part of the world if he can keep us up. When Ronnie Moore kept us up the fans went mad

Everybody likes to earn a crust and most people don’t like sitting about all day.
Some one Danny Wilson or Owen Coyle.

all those names have the scent of KC all over them. failures with the odd success. look who is doing a good job in the national league working with peanuts and overachieving on a poor budget. thats what he,d have to do at pools so they,d be used to it.

Kevin Maher at Southend. Players and management haven't been paid since December. Still in playoffs and a young squad. Also he could be out of a job next week or week after, went Southend get wound up by HMRC.

Lee Bradbury from Eastleigh, another club with small budget and fan base.
My fear is that Leon Clarke, Hartley & Featherstone take the position.

David Webb left York 2 weeks ago, would be ready and ideal for this challenge.

Left because he was clueless. Would not win another game this season with him in charge

Plenty of good managers in the league below like Maher as mentioned above. Maynard at Wealdstone, Parkinson at Altrincham, Williamson at Gateshead or even Jono Greening at Scarborough in the league below. Whether any of them would want to come to us is another question.
If we do go for a manager just to keep us up, like Phil Brown, I hope we don't offer them it in the summer if they succeed. Barrow avoided this and got Pete Wild and they haven't looked back.

York record;
Played 12
Won 5
Drew 2
Lost 5

Now if that is clueless I suggest you haven't a clue about appointing a new manager. Lucky we have Raj and not you!

You’re not wrong about me there!
What I said is the opinion of York fans I know, he won 2 in the league and lost games against the sides around them.

Anybody who keeps Pools up from this point, given our remaining fixtures and the state of the squad, can have the job with my blessing. Ronnie Moore had it easy in comparison - at least he was able to bring in the players he wanted.

When he become Motherwell manager there was lots of negativity and the club where in similar situation as us. Rather than shutting up shop his methodology was all out attack with 3 strikers. We might as well go down fighting. That’s if he is the man

As his last club was Motherwell, if we appoint him, best check first he’s not carrying the ‘Hartley Virus’….brought on by heather and shortbread exposure.
