I have just watched the Sterry sending off . From watching the stream there is no way in a million years that it is even a foul. Sterry at most shoulder charges him and the guy goes down clutching his knee. Curle in his interview seems not wanting to appeal but I believe he would be stupid not to do so.

Watching it, I was a bit perplexed at the way the referee shot over waving the red card as though on cue with added dramatic effect, talk about a drama Queen
I saw it as a yellow card at best and their players over reaction had me shaking my head….I’m still confused in general at some referee’s ignoring blatant fouls yet overreacting to others…?
Nothing to do with Crewe, but oddly enough they do tend to accept teams with a reputation for ‘professionalism’ and seem to allow for it which I find bizarre.
It’s like the mindset of …..”Oh it’s GBH United today do best make allowances or they’ll have no one on the pitch if I apply the rules properly”…..we must come under the ‘Self Inflected United’ category and get treated with contempt.

the answer is if the club do not think its worth appealing then the club are agreeing with the refs decision. might be a change of heart this morning after the incident is played back.

Worth an appeal it was very dubious.

thats what you end up with with all the physical fitness training they go through and time spent on them getting where they are. the little bald tubby guys of yesterday would never get close to todays league list of refs but somehow had a feeling for the game that todays lot will never have. the authorities moan about the way refs are treated in grass roots football including kids games. ever thought that many bring all the troubles on themselves with their attitude to players, coaches and the game itself. do they ever realise it tends to be the same people week after week doing a shit job who eventually end up being assaulted and walk away from the game. pity so many took it up in the first place as many make it much harder than it really is. i could write a book about all this and really wish i had as i inteded to do so but my ex distroyed all my notes before i left her.

Crewe fan in peace here - Sterry was always popular at Crewe and it is good to see him in the league. Unfortunately I think his enthusiasm got the better of him - it wasn't so much the tackle which got him sent off, it was the punch into the ribs. That is why he doesn't argue and immediately realises his stupidity. Good luck in staying up, always enjoyed a Hartlepool away day.

If that was a red card then the game is dead. Think you will be fine now after the helping hand we gave you the other night. One thing I did notice. Where on earth were your fans? The ground looked empty.

well it was a red card if alexbarmy is right about the punch. i never saw it but the ref might have had a better angle to see it. doubt any pools fans watching it live had a good view as they,d be behind the incident unlike the ref.

Sterry has a bit of skill compared to his team mates.
But regular injuries n Suspensions bring nothing to our survival chances.
Wont be here next season.
Probably turn Pools new contract offer down to sign for South Shields.

Not sure what other incidents you are thinking of to say that? The other week he had another kick on the ankle that has been giving him so much trouble. Sterry is no angel but kamikaze tackles aren't his style. I wonder if something was done or said off the ball to get him that wound up? Still wouldn't be a good enough excuse for losing his head.

Absolute shitter, because after watching the first 10 minutes on iPlayer I thought Crewe were there for the taking.

he is only human and getting pissed off with his own situation and playing alongside poorer players gets the better of many people. the reason possibly why really good players never make it as managers and many ex players would not touch the job with a bargepole.
