Kane in the headlines as he overtakes Greaves as Spurs all time goal scorer, some facts they omitted, Kane has played more games, Greaves also scored 124 goals for Chelsea. Kane is playing on pitches like bowling greens whereas Greaves was playing on pitches with hardly a blade grass and probably with a ball with a totally different make up of todays ball. Personally as a footballer I don’t think Kane is anywhere near as good as Greaves was, Greaves had great acceleration and pace as well as great positional skills, clinical finishing and opportunism inside the penalty area; he was also an excellent dribbler.

Kane can’t lick Greavsies boots as a player, plus he had the advantage of having a personality.
I’ d like to see a goals per game comparison between the two.

two dufferent eras of the game and you cannot compare really. greaves will be the winner for me as in those days players seemed to have a personality and a life outside the game. can you imagine a kane and any of todays top players having their own football show.

I don't get why these things wind people up so much. its factual that he has overtaken Jimmy Greaves in goalscoring terms for spurs. Some people will interpret that as Kane is a better player but most will understand its different eras, conditions etc etc. The implication from some is that it's not even worthy of celebration, commendation or headlines because he has it "easier".

Outside the prem I suspect most clubs goalscoring records will remain intact forever more because good players will move up the divisions. So we'll never have this issue.

you can add league appearance records to that also and time managers stay at one club. without looking i,d imagine challinors time at stockport will be mid table at least in how long a manager has been at a league 2 club.

It winds me up because it’s been in the headlines all day as if it was a one of, if it wasn’t for Son Kane wouldn’t have scored that many goals, with out Son in the Spurs team Kane is lost. If Kane was that good why didn’t one of the other mega rich teams buy him, always plenty of paper talk but no offers were forthcoming, he has never won a medal, at least Shearer got a Premier League medal.

It's almost like Football is a team sport with a slightly greater reliance on certain individuals, like the one's who put the ball in the back of the net.

It was nice to see Jimmy's family send congratulations to Harry Kane on his achievement.

I spent many a time down the Lane and away watching Jimmy who formed a "deadly" partnership with Alan Gilzean in the 60's and were known as the G Men.

Yes he was Manager during the time I spent watching Spurs, going with my Dad when I was 10, lifted over the turnstiles and Dad paying the gateman a few pennies to let me in.
Billy Nick was born in Scarborough not too far away from the North East I suppose.
I just think football was a much better spectacle than it is now and no silly wages or transfer fees.

Funny something about him was on the news at my parents house and me and my dad and we’re chatting and my mam looked up and told us ..we were gobsmacked.
When my dad asked why she never mentioned it she said she’d told him fervcousin Billy had a team but my dad thought she meant on the Rec
Pity she never told us when I was in the Juniours in the 60’s. just for the bragging rights.
