Been looking back at Pools visits to Gillingham over the years and not happy reading.

League record: P16 W1 D3 L12 F6 A34 PTS 6 (or 5 in the old days). The solitary win came back in 2009 when James Brown scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. Played a goaless draw down in Kent in the FA Cup as well. Definitely not a happy hunting ground for Pools.

Only been to Gillingham once back in September 1990 promotion season.
Witnessed a 3 0 defeat after driving through the night to get there.
Vowed never to go again.
The vibes aint good for Saturday.
Would gladly take a point. Be ecstatic with 3.But expecting a defeat.

The old days? We've has 3 points for a win since 1981... Nobody much under 50 can remember anything different. 6 points from a possible 48 not depressing enough for you? It is for me

Hopefully a more relevant stat is that Gillingham have scored only 7 times in 23 league games this season.

Gillingham will score. It is a question of whether we can breach their very tight defence to get something out of the game.

I am going for a 1-0 to Gillingham.

You'd have to assume Dolan and Hartley will both play. It's anyone's guess whether Sterry will be fit but even if he's not it's an opportunity to drop Murray and move Ferguson back to his proper position at left wing back.

If Sterry isn't fit I would go for a back five of Stephenson Dolan Hartley Menayese Ferguson.

not oversure if i fancy a new defensive partnership making their debut together after only being at the club for days. you need a bit of luck for em to knit in together from the off. this is the problem when the alternatives are tried and untrusted. who would be KC.

Gillingham have only scored 1 goal in their last 6 games and only 1 draw in those games as well. We have scored 9 with 2 wins and 1 draw so much superior.

2 nil win for us with odds of 14-1

Not the ideal situation it has to be said but it is also said that beggars can't be choosers.

As games like this are as near must win as is possible I would have thought we would be busting a gut to get people in who could make the difference.

Gillingham have signed Oli Hawkins from Mansfield. Giant centre forward.

He is 6' 6" of pure awkwardness. Can play in defence and up front and he has already scored against us this season when Mansfield beat us at the Vic. I gather he has signed for an undisclosed fee. The new Yank owner definitely waving the cheque book. If Hawkins is leaving a fairly successful club for one at the bottom of the league, they must have crossed his palms with silver.

oates goes to mansfield for more money. hawkins leaves them for the delights of gillingham and obviously more money. just where does this leave pools.

Gillingham not won in ages, signed a boat load of top players, momentum without winning…

Along come Hartlepool United.

Gillingham 3 Pools 0.

Panic button pressed.

actually with luck it could be a good time to play them before the new players get up to speed and gain good relationships on the pitch with their teamates. still going for my usual defeat but expect it to be close.

These lads are top players at our level so will be good enough to do damage even without time to "bed in". Will be a Gillingham win I fear.

The Brighton thing ended badly 0-5 with most of the media watching Brighton and Pools that day. Tomorrow, oh dear Gills 2 Pools 0. Hoping its not of course.

they could get lucky with the new players fitting into a system they have played at previous clubs. same goes for our new lads as well. the reason why managers like to do the january window eary rather than at the last minute. its who is the best side on the day and not who has the best individuals that should succeed.

Absolutely dreadful first half. Could have been 3 or 4. Totally clueless, two of their players could have walked the ball in for their goal from the free kick. Killing, two poor mistakes which should have led to goals.

We are street s behind the team bottom of the league who haven’t (sorry hadn’t) scored at home since October.

They have clearly made some good signings and look well organised, which is something we have done since the middle of last season.

Unless we have an amazing turn around second half, we will lose this game comfortably.

Another 3-4 quality signings needed if we have any chance of competing in this league. They would of course cost money which Raj either hasn’t got or doesn’t want to spend.

Well we never saw this coming did we? If we sign one good player it would be a minor miracle, asking for four well its a pipe dream, just never going to happen. 45 minutes to change this embarrassment.

What is it with Pools. Every time we play a team on a bad run it ends against us. Clubs must look at the fixtures and can't wait to play us. We should rename the club " The fall guys!

We are well and truly fucked!!!!

Yeah, first time this season Gillingham have scored 2 goals in a league match - says it all about Pools.

Team bound for the conference sign League 2 proven footballers and beat a team full of mishaps, hangers-on, embarrassments - led by a manager who simply cannot see what is unfolding in front of him and continues to pick some of the worst to pull on the blue & white. Curle completely lost this from the word go.

Hartlepool are a national league football club in all but name. Throw the white flag. Whether the owner has the finances or not, we will not sign anything worthy of arresting this slide, this team is a stain on the history of both the football club and the Football League. One of the worst to ever do it…

Curle at fault today starting Hamilton,Tumillty and to cap it off he brought on Hastie at half time which meant us playing with 10 men for the second half.
Honestly Hastie was so bad curle must be blind what also showed today Gray is not there yet but at least he tried.

To be fair, Gillingham have signed three quality players in the last week and one of them (Tom Nicholls) scored a goal set up their second. If we had played them two weeks ago we might have got a point. I think they will escape the drop zone now they have added goal threat to their tight defence. Pools were always going to lose this game.
