Evening all, looking like I will be relocating to Hartlepool very soon from Kent, looking forward to seeing Hartlepool play, I grew up watching and still watch Ebbsfleet United, it looks like HUFC fans are very similar in terms of passion for the club and get behind the team, we are looking forward to watching HUFC on a regular basis and meeting some supporters to learn more about the club
Cheers
Glenn

Welcome GlennFinch1968. I'm from Cornwall but its HUFC. Nice to have one join instead of losing one. Maybe you will bring us more luck especially at home. Enjoy your Hartlepool stay.

Thanks a lot, our first match will be against Colchester on January 28th, we're in Hartlepool for the weekend sorting stuff out ahead of the move so it's great that HUFC are at home

Hopefully no one will give you shit over your accent. Remember watching Guiseley against Morpeth once, couldn't speak because I was worried people would think I was a geordie!

I am from Hartlepool but have lived in the South for many years and can confirm there is nothing worse than being thought a Geordie.

I will have to buy a shirt before the match, I don't want anyone to think I'm from Essex lol

Hey GlenFinch, back in '65 I had the misfortune to move to Peterlee County Durham (not my choice) and the most awful place except for a handful of yakker poolies who live there and a few that moved from West View Hartlepool. That's history. I studied and worked in Hartlepool and of course paid homage at The Vic (take no notice of any new fancy names). My accent was taken the piss out of by mostly Mackems who had never been to see them play so don't worry. And when summer comes the hotest place I have ever been was the Fish Sands Hartlepool and the coldest place well...Hartlepool. The greatest fans that ever followed a team. So F Off is term of endearment.

Thanks for that mate, I'm expecting plenty of banter about being Southern, don't mind that at all, it's about being a part of something and hopefully being a part of the HUFC fan base will be mainly a great experience, I've been keeping a close eye on results and feel happy when HUFC win, especially as its vital for the club to stay up, some big games coming up as well, including the Colchester game, it would be good to progress in the FA Cup but the league is the Bread and butter for the club and must be put First, I will be easy to pick out on the 28th, I'll be queuing up to buy a Hartlepool shirt and speaking Southern in the club shop

welcome to the house of fun. hope you have no history of mental illness as the vic might be the last resort. pools are a serious health issue with no known cure once you get bitten. we need som,e feedback though about the chips compared to gravesend and northfleet ones. a much better name than bloody ebbsfleet.

back to my reffing days being called a geordie always resulted in a card of some colour as it was an offensive comment. other words were ignored.

The chips at Stonebridge Road have Improved over the Years but I'll let you know how they compare to Hartlepools lol, couldn't agree more about the name change, a vast majority of fans were opposed to becoming Ebbsfleet United, it was purely a commercial decision because the story goes that Eurostar would only sponsor the team (not for long) if Gravesend and Northfleet became Ebbsfleet United so it had the same name as the local Eurostar station, but the club lost its identity for a lot of fans, even now I would be happy to see it changed back, although very unlikely that will ever happen

funny what a name can do. back when they had there old name i used to follow there results with interest but since the name change i just never bother anymore. doubt any poolies would wish us to be called afc cleveland or something else rediculous for a slice of cash.

Good luck with your change of location.
Pools is the best football club by far.
Hope you have a strong constitution.

warm welcome from costa del Artlepooool !!!

its the Riviera of the North East coast - a fantastic football team and even better chip shops.

be sure to get to as many games as you can and purchase the mighty blue and white top (if the shop has any in)

Already I'm looking forward to battered burgers (rare to find down South) I'll get whatever shirt I can get my hands on, hopefully a home shirt, it sounds like there's plenty of banter and atmosphere at games

When you arrive Mr GlenFinch, you should be aware that there are certain myths about Hartlepool that need pointing out about it being a bit chilly.

1. Your wheely bins will not be ransacked by Arctic Foxes …. the Polar Bears have eaten them, but in mitigation, the Polar Bears always put the lid down on the bin when they’ve finished.
2. A North Easterly wind and a lumpy North Sea enhance the ambience and delightful atmosphere at the Vic where the wind can described as ….Baltic….we even have a Baltic Street in the town.
3.July is the only month when snow clearing isn’t a problem.
4. You do not require a tide table book to attend matches at the Vic.
5. We may be called ‘Monkey Hangers’ but we don’t do it now….. with all the bloody paperwork involved now it’s just not worth the bother.
6. The summer is gorgeous….This year it’s forecast for July 11th, a Tuesday.

Ah that’ll be Kev…couldn’t quite translate it, but Kev’s posts are a crime against spelling and an assault on the English language bless him.
Ratboy’s sat next to me asleep on the sofa laying on his back, not a pretty sight, shattered after three consecutive mornings down the Gare…. and this morning cornering next doors window cleaner who was dumb enough to climb over an 8ft fence to take a short cut through the garden. Fool.

July 11th my wedding anniversary (be 53rd) so yes I've booked the sun that day, just for the 24 hours though!

Might buy her a fish & chip supper if she's lucky.

In other words

Bring plenty of thermals

By an antarctic coat

Don't worry about suncream..........ever

Stock up on de-icer and anti-freeze

Put chains on our car tyres

Don't turn the central heating off

All noted

Cheers (I think)

Hope our house has a log fire
