Players coming to Pools nowadays is a last resort if nobody else wants them.
Clubs got no ambition.

It would be interesting to know why Gary Liddle refused a contract to go to South Shields in the NPL.

I guess we will never know but you can speculate. My guess is, he came to the realization that his body was no longer up to the rigours of full time League football and decided to go Shields so he could play on for a little bit longer and be involved in a project other than working his bollocks off at the thankless task of keeping Pools out of the bottom two. No inside knowledge, just my two penn'orth.

Could have been a better offer - equally he might have realised he couldn't go on forever at League level. He missed a lot of games last season.

Thats what I thought as well. KC watched a Darlo game a couple of weeks ago so it is possible there is interest from Pools but that doesn't necessarily mean he's on his way to the Vic.
