Mansfield would have to have a bad day at the office for us to beat them. A draw would be a good result. Another factor to consider is that Pools struggle to perform well in two consecutive games never mind three.

They’re Mansfield, not ‘Real Mansfield’. Anything can happen.

Don't think so. He's already served a one match ban for 5 bookings. Don't players have to rack up 10 bookings for a second suspension? Josh is only on 7.

He's scored twice against Harrogate this season and is due another (goal that is)

Mansfield have only won 2 in the last 9 & those were against Rochdale & Gillingham,by one goal.
We've won more.

Fingers crossed, eh? I was just thinking, how many Pools players would get in the Mansfield side? Two or three?

Would be nice to knock out back to back home wins before the end of season or am i a bit over ambitious.

Our record at the Vic against the top half sides is very poor. Bradford 1-3, Salford 0-2, Carlisle 1-3, Stockport 0-5.
Here's hoping we can start to change this trend this evening.

Yeah, I know records are not cast in stone which is why I said "Here's hoping we can can change the trend this evening". In football there is always hope. If you compare the playing records of Pools and Mansfield the inescapable conclusion is that they are better than us but then you factor in, home advantage, current team form, injuries, individual players form, weather conditions, refereeing etc it becomes less clear cut. Here's hoping.....

Harrogate beat them 3-0 last month so anything is possible. UTP

Murray misses the game through illness and Shelton comes in. Unless he is going to play as an emergency centre back, the probable back 4 is Sterry-Menayese-Ferguson-Tumilty.

Either way it doesn't bear thinking about. Gonna stay home and watch this one on the iPlayer. :(

v good first half against one of the best in division.
Cooke and Sylla as usual pick of the bunch and nice to see Sterry back

Think shelton at the back may bite us on the arse and dont think much at all of tumility but hopefully some reinforcements soon

be pleasantly surprised if we take the 3 points but so much better than the last time we played mansfield this season

A finishing back 4 of Tumilty, Rollin, Ferguson & Missilou is as makeshift & underwhelming as it gets. The facts are that only one of those is good enough for the level in the position they are being deployed in. Even in their correct position, only Rollin & Ferguson should be playing in the football league.

Thought we battled well & the non-negotiable effort was there for all to see. Cooke & Sylla decent again, Hamilton also with lots of headers & knock-downs. On another night, we nick a point. Thankfully a flurry of late goals in League 2 mean none of our relegation rivals gain points on us. The home games against Harrogate, Rochdale & Colchester are relegation six-pointers with bells on.

Also, Oates is a beast - top, top footballer. Would transform our team.

No surprise about the result at all. Mansfield would have had to be really poor all game not to take advantage of yet another enforced change in Pools' back line before kick off.

For me the madness of starting the season with only 3 centre backs is the main reason Pools are where they are at the minute. It was always asking for trouble. Menayese missed a load of games with injury, Lacey hasn't been seen since October with his shoulder problem. Murray has struggled for pace all season and playing Ferguson out of position has been a poor stop-gap at best.

Hope to God a decent centre back is the first new signing through the door next week.

This evening shows how you have to win the games against the teams around you in the league.
Basically the top half won and the bottom half lost.
Next game is important.

Sterry almost certainly out of the Harrogate game too, and for how long will he be absent this time?

He's a game-changer and our best player but the injury record is going to stop him playing L1/Championship level.

I heard Matty Dolan is signing, maybe just a rumour we'll see. For me we need, 2 centre Half's, another versitle full back, another centre midfielder, a wide player and a different option up front. Oh and a keeper! Not asking for much!.

A game of contrasting halves for Pools, a sharp difference between them performance wise, bit of a puzzler that and the substitutions made things actually worse.
It’s all been said above and I find nothing to disagree with but in the second half did Mansfield really need to overdo their pathetic theatrics and blatant time wasting….both their injured subs limped off in the same badly choreographed piss taking style.
Mind you, they’re a team I’ve disliked from day one fifty years ago.and can’t see me ever changing my mind.

pools caught cold again after the break. apart from the result they battled well without creating much in open play. mansfield dl eserved all 3 points loke we did at rochdale. for me a home defeat with only one central defender starting would have happened to every other club in the league. the best available central defender is the number one priority in january.

same here and for longer. mansfield have always been the same no matter who manages and plays for them. dour but seem to do just enough to win games with different generations of aggressive fans.

Matty Dylan Brad walker and a new keeper supposedly done deals. I'm hoping it's wrong but we do need a keeper.

its a big yes from me about the need for a new keeper as killip has never really had another one who realistically has been another option since he walked into the club.
