always wonder if thats not the case with many actors who after playing a character numerous times actually think they are that person in real life. the first person to play dracula in a talking picture was bela lugosi who eventually got buried in his dracula costume. met a few actors over the years and most were just like their screen persona as if playing that part came into real life and took over them. best example was doris speed who played annie walker in coronation street. speeking to her was like being part of the rovers return cast for five minutes. possibly though its why they got the part in the first place as they had not to act but just play themselves.

There are some great ‘dupe’ perfumes about, one is Lidl Suddenly Madame Glamour smells exactly the same as Coco Mademoiselle. It might not keep the fragrance for as long but at £4.99 a bottle it’s good for at least a couple hours.

Leaving aside the BBC monopoly, the companies who pay for commercial advertising obviously like these ads or more importantly believe that their customers do. You have to assume that all their market research is done in London and the other big cities.

According to last year's National Census 4 out of every 5 people in England and Wales identify as white - but most live out in the sticks. Not that many corporate brand HQs in Hartlepool, Shrewsbury or Exeter.

I'm quite surprised to read this type of comment from you Jamie. Don't know where that 'survey' comes from but the really big one that matters - last year's National Census - tells a different story. 27.5 million people in England and Wales described themselves as Christian against 3.9 million who described themselves as Muslim. Another 22.2 million said they had "No religion." For sure most of them are lapsed nominal Christians like me.

Islam will only 'overtake' Christianity if people continue to abandon the C of E in droves - and if and when that happens the vast majority of people living her will be agnostic or atheist. If the government of the day has any sense the UK will become a secular state like France - not a Muslim country.

I think you will find both Christian followers Protestant an Catholic have abandoned going to church apart from weddings and Christenings a long time ago. How many people do you know personally go to church nowadays ?
We are a very woke country compared to France, you can’t compare France to the U.K., In 2010, the country brought in a complete ban on clothing that includes full-face coverings – including the burka and niqab. These cannot be worn in any public space in France, at risk of a €150 fine. Could you imagine the upcry in the U.K. if that law was brought in.

Can't see the lasses in this country bowing down to sharia law although that thought is based on current trends and not on what could develop. They used to say that with all the Irish folk settling here coupled with their tendency to have large families that it wouldn't be long before the majority would be catholic. It hasn't happened.
