I honestly cannot see any logical reason preventing a player signing for Pools from Torquay or any other club come to that, at any time of the year, if it was possible.

yes, moving from a vastly overated part of the country to one of the most underated areas.

Lets face it, it is a helluva distance and if the player involved had family with kids at school etc it would be a massive disruption for what I would guess would not necessarily be a massive pay rise. As I said above, its not as though we are Man U. On the other hand if the player involved had no strong ties in Torquay then why not.

I agree it’s unlikely ….but there’s nothing preventing a player doing it.
Incidentally, the current Torquay squad has only one player from Devon in it, the nearest after that being from London, so young lads with no ties to the area.
In fact most of the squad are London based which is only 40 miles less than it is to Hartlepool.

even the journeyman lower league player married with a family will be very lucky indeed to have a career when he never moved house and area at least a couple of times. can hear the words again of do i bother unpacking this time coming from a players partner.

Location: Rocks or Colliery?
Renting a 4 bedroom house at Wynyard is about 1k a month cheaper than one in the Torquay area, surely that's a huge financial attraction too.

Clearly there are a number of variables but it seems to me the better the financial package, the greater the chance of a player moving from one end of the country to the other. I have absolutely no inside knowledge but it seems to me that Pools are not in a position to offer the kind of deal that would persuade someone to uproot their family and move from Torquay to Hartlepool but a young player at the start of his career might make the move for a chance of playing in the FL for example. As I said earlier, on balance I think it is unlikely though not impossible.

oldham and torquay are two struggling sides down there nut like every side they,ll have at least one bright spark in it. a move to a struggling league club would be seen as a good career move.

Yep, already got two of our stand outs this year from teams down there, Umerah the bright spark at Wealdstone and Sylla likewise at Aldershot.

No wonder the objective of Promotion went tits up if them 2 are classed as stand outs.
Nothing wrong with different opinions tho.

Certainly is all about opinions. Mine is that Cooke, Umerah and Sylla are all upgrades on what Pools had in the same positions at the end of last season. That would be Crawford, Bogle and Morris. For that matter, you could make a case for saying Menayese is a better all round centre back than Liddle, Odusina or Byrne. Not his fault that there's only one of him! And Molyneux hasn't been replaced.
