Just read their board, crikey talk about delusions of grandeur from their fans. Looks like we're playing Man City this week the way they are going on. Funny they are that big they haven't even sold out a paltry 700 tickets yet, thought with them being so massive that would be a given.

It will be interesting to see what sort of reception he gets from the fans, I don’t think there was anyway he was going to stay at Pools after the Stockport offer even if Pools had matched it.

Why should we have matched it, He,d just signed a 3 year contract.

It was probably written into his contract that if another club approached him he would be allowed to speak to them, he might have had a 3 year contract at Pools but they couldn’t match the Stockport salary offer and probably a signing on fee, every one has a price.

Thats why we got Compo from Stockport probably a lot more than a box of kippers.
Also Compo from Fulham.
Back to the game.

My problem is if he wanted to go, let him go. I’d have understood if he just came out and said he wanted to go because it was closer to home …and a multi millionaire owner would give him more opportunity, I get it. I’d have preferred him to stay, but it wasn’t to be, but such is life.
I just didn’t like the furtiveness of it all which was all so unnecessary.

he,ll get applause from me. if he had stayed and got us into the play offs i doubt he,d have been with us this season anyway no matter what league we were in. a bigger club than stockport, if there is such a thing, would have come in for him anyway. without his time with pools we,d still be talking about the football league trophy and playing gateshead twice over christmas.

He's managing a team who are coming to the Vic hell bent on taking three points and that's how I see him so he'll get no encouragement from me. My team need the points and he will be doing his utmost to prevent that, which is his job. I won't boo or shout abuse at him but that's all he's getting from me.
I've now moved on. He is the opposition, the enemy, the past and will be treat as such, by me anyway.

I'm with Derwent. Remember one Good Friday when Pools beat Stockport 5-0 HT5-0. That will do for me but more realistically 3-0. The scorers? Don't care as long as Josh gets one or more. Crowd 4,200 County 800. The spirit of the great late Ernie Pythian helps sweep the ball into The Town End net. Job done. People in Carlisle get down on their bended knees and pray for thanks to The Almighty for sparing them humiliation for what would have been a Pools away win come January. Stoke City say not again. Bunkerites arrange a game on Christmas Day when they emerge from their trenches and shake hands before sharing a guage and a toast to the mighty HUFC. Well its better to be positive.

well at least one of their fans got things right. the difference between both clubs are their respective owners.

Maybe after all those long years in the ‘lower league’ they don’t dare chance going to grounds that they’re not familiar with and fall off the edge of the world., even though they had our company.
On the other hand, they may fear a vengeful mob of local pitchforks and torch bearers seeking out Challinor and his followers
Is the gallows up on the fish sands :o ?

In fairness they have had to suffer some really dark days, But they still have a long way to go to be contenders.

Think its actually "Stockporshite"
Where have all these new found fans been, I take my hat off to all those who stayed through thick and thin.
They are the hardcore.

Older Bunkerites may remember the dreadful season of 1970/71 and possibly the worst Pools team of all time scoring 6 goals away all season. However come Easter 1971 Pools demolished Stockport County 3-0 at The Vic and the late Ralph Wright who made a name for himself in The USA scored twice and wore a plaster cast on his broken arm. Don't think that would be allowed today. Just to make it better, Pools won the next home game 3-0 against Exeter City. Alas it was too little too late and re-election loomed large again. I have seen some memorable wins over Stockport and our beloved Pools can do it again on Saturday and show DC. Best way to do it. Show him respect and then beat his team and get that Paddy guy wrapped up without a kick like Luke Armstrong was. If you agree great and if you don't well I respect your opinion. Without differing opinions there would be no need for The Bunker.

Best game against Stockport was at Edgely park when we won thanks mainly due fo a superb goalkeeping show from Kevin Poole.

I remember that 70/71 season, it was dreadful, but oddly compared to today no one kicked off about it…I remember Ralph Wright and his combat cast which in all honesty he used as a weapon, especially at corners.
I do remember hanging back after the last game of the season on the Mill House side and sitting on the terraces in the sunshine wondering if we’d get re-elected….I was sixteen and the future looked disappointing. Nowt new there then.

not being re elected was much more vicious than dropping down to the national league which is bad enough. on top of losing your league status you lose all your players who became the property of the league. if my memory serves me right no team has ever got back into the league once they got kicked out. accrington resigned but took about 44 years to get back. imagine if you supported them and just left school, you,d be thinking of retiring the time they played there next league game. just could never see pools making it back where workington would be called the new pools.

think my lad sums em up well. even though they are on a good run they should be doing better with the players they have. look really good but do not put away too many half chances they create. flatter to decieve but will have enough to win 2 nil.

Pools always have a goal in them when Josh is playing. He got good support in attacking phases from Cooke, Missilou, Hastie and then Grey on Saturday. I'll be surprised if the Stockport defence don't know they've been in a real tussle come the final whistle. Not saying we'll win, but you never know...

I think a draw would be a good result considering the quality of the opposition.

I hope Challinor gets a load of abuse and then we beat them which will hurt him even more. I see it like if your wife or girlfriend gave you some great times but then suddenly left you for a richer man, you wouldn’t wish her well and thank her for the good times. Mind I do understand why Challinor went and most would do the same but we can still hate him for it especially seeing how crap we are now.

We are always going to concede so it is a just a question of if we are good enough to breach the Stockport defence as often as they breech ours. We will need to be at our 100% best if we are to get anything out of this one.

yes, followed by a win at crawley in the more important game. if i had the choice of one win only out of the next two games i,d plump for crawley away to do it.

Hi, Stockport County fan in peace. Obviously I want county to win tomorrow but I really want you to stay in the league because your a real club. I remember the days when Brian Honour was running round teams for fun, I had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions and he was a true gent.
I remember being at the bottom of the league with the likes of yourselves, Rochdale and even your Fulham’s and Bournemouths etc but being a kid at the time I always look back with some amazing memories.
I know that Dave Challinor has upset a lot of you guys up there and I know every time he (Dave) talks of you as a club and fan base he only has good things to say about you. Yes we have a massive plan to get championship football in the next 5-7years with the backing of a local business man. I really think Challinor came here because of the size of the project at the time and the fact it’s closer to his main home in Cheshire. Obviously he would have had a massive pay rise too. I’m sure your time will come. All the best for tomorrow and really hope you stay up. Good luck for the future..

Spoken as a true supporter and after tomorrow I wish Stockport all the best. Personally, I think DC deseves a round of applause before the game for what he did for our club. Who can hoestly say if offered more money, closer to home and alonger contract that they would have said no, not many I think.

First things first, Nobody comes on the bunker in Peace, Not even us.
We mostly can,t stand each other at best, Like to ridicule each other at every opportunity And for no reason what so ever.

But joking apart i remember many good encounters between our clubs, And believe it or not i was personally pleased you won promotion.
And after tomorrow wish you all the best for the rest of the season apart from when we meet.

I stand rightly corrected, In my defence i was giddy with delight thinking KC may be made Gaffa, Proper like.

I know what to expect now, So got to smile with a stiff upper lip and wait for the oiled Banana. banghead

We all knew this would be a tough game but 0-3 with about 25 minutes to go. This could get out of hand.

"Personally, I think Keith (Curle) is the best man-manager and overall club manager we have had since my time here."

Way to go Mr Singh. You didn't think you were maybe being just a tad disrespectful to the man who got Pools promoted? Anyway, your own comment has come back and bitten you on the arse. Ouch!

Just read their board, crikey talk about delusions of grandeur from their fans. Looks like we're playing Man City this week the way they are going on. Funny they are that big they haven't even sold out a paltry 700 tickets yet, thought with them being so massive that would be a given.

Think winning 5-0 at a canter against the single worst EFL team in history justifies that
