Watched programmes on Petula Clark last night on BBC4 and stupidly thought that she had passed on.

But no she will be 90 next Tuesday, 15 November and still married since June 1961 - quite remarkable.

She is still performing, last big show was in May this year at the Sondheim Theatre in the West End.

I have fond memories of her songs from the 60's onwards.

Happy 90th Birthday Pet.

She started off as a child star in films. Jack Warners daughter in a number of ‘The Huggetts’ films. Showing my age.

I just told our lass she’s died ……… then read the post properly…..then said no she’s alive at which point she coughed her sandwich up and nearly died laughing.

I drive up and down the A1 and sometimes stop at a services near Grantham. First place in the country to announce diesel at £2 a litre. There’s a retail place there called Downtown. Was driving past it one Friday night and on the radio came one of my all time favourite tracks, Petula Clark’s Downtown, I kid you not.

more useless bits of film history if anyone is interested. in one of the huggett films in one of diana dors first films she played a tarty lass chasing jack. petula clark who played his daughter was actually the older of the two but no one would ever have thought it. a case of the plainer looking lass become a cracker later on in life whilst the pretty sexy one goes quickly the other way. we all knew similar from our schooldays.

It’s fair to say that Diana Dors had better parties.
