You can still get Hancocks show on Radio Four Extra. Love Round the Horne, with Julian and Sandy  or the Goons, Classic stuff.

back in the days when comedy was really funny and you actually got a laugh and a happy feel about it. todays lot are worse than having piles and sitting on a hard chair. last decent comedy programme for me was pheonix nights and even the younger ones loved that.

Lots of comedy nowadays is middle class student comedy…’Live at the Apollo’ is infested with them hence the catastrophic collapse in it’s viewing figures.
In the early 90’s, late 80’s we had the new wave of comedians who boasted of ‘deposing the wave of old farts’ then on the TV because they’d been there too long…..turns out the new kids on the block are the old farts on the box today because they’ve been on TV far longer than those they deposed and that’s only because 95% of new comedians just aren’t funny enough (except to their yoghurt knitting collective) to depose them.

The modern day comedians are shite.
They a bit limited what they can n cant say nowadays due to the easily offended cranks kicking off.
Sir Bernard will be turning in his grave.
Ye its that bad nowadays i find Snowys posts/replys more humerus.
sctatchinghead
Im not biased in saying Pools fans are top of the league when it comes to avin a laff. Especially the away day piss ups were the result is only a bonus if we win.

So bad now that i have grown to like jim davidson and chubby brown. If people do not like em then do not go. is that too simple for folk. i do not go to pop concerts or ballet because they are not my cup of tea, so why watch a commedian when you know the type of jokes they do and then go all offended after it. my ma embarrased me as a little kid by laughing at the wrong time and jimmy james spent the next five minutes, which felt like five hours, basing his act on her. never did me any lasting damage though but five niutes of having a red face.

The trouble nowadays is a vocal self righteous group of middle class gobshites labour under the misapprehension you should only find funny what they find funny….which is as funny as an outbreak of rabies in a puppy kennels.
Can’t these people realise we all have different tastes, to expect everyone to fall in line with their bong eyed view is to embrace madness.

I was watching some comedy thing the other night where up and coming comedians compete at being the "funniest".
They were all bang average, you see better at local comedy clubs.
The worst bit though was one of the judges, a disabled woman with speech difficulties, was trying to be funny by saying "f**k off taking my job" but it took her so long to say the word f**k it was cringeworthy!
Reckon people laughed so as not to look unwoke!

There’s no gags anymore, no belly laughs …..we have twenty somethings with a degree in Comedic Studies telling long winded stories about their cats operation to people like them in comedy clubs full of people like them….trouble is people who run the media are just older versions of them and give them air time to produce nonsense.
End product, elitist comedy (aka shite) where every aspiring comic has been to Uni.
Meanwhile the vast majority just turn the twenty something angst posing as comedy off…then they wonder why their ratings are nosediving.

yes, these lot actually looked funny before they opened their mouths and that includes the dead pan faced ones like hancock . now they come on and you et a political discussion rather than joke telling. saying that there were some from the old days that also left me cold but even them were far better than todays best but were just not for me.

Peter Kay has started touring again, I don’t find him funny at all in stand up on stage although he made some great tv series apart from Car Share, maybe I am getting old but I didn't that funny I used to love the John Smith adverts especially the one where was moving his mother into a home so he could create a games room
Jim Davidson has his own subscription TV Channel, Ustreme.com, I do find him funny but would never subscribe as he slags of anything that has to do with Labour and people who go on strike including the nurses.

jim davidson also does a few stage shows with like minded commedians. all seem to be down south which is possibly where his main fan base are. like many commedians we used to laugh at some go over better in certain parts of the country than others. it seems bad that he has to perform at certain venues only and having his own pay to view channel to see him. he is hardly a threat to national security.

Once it was a no no to give away your political persuasion because you could alienate a fair percentage of your audience/viewers…nowadays you can be cancelled because you made an innocuous comment about something that hurts the feelings of some professional grumbler/whining gobshite.
Why do big business and government respond so quickly to the infantile demands of assorted cranks and pressure groups whose percentage of the population is tiny beyond belief. sctatchinghead

but its all one way. some woke box ticker can have their political persuasion that suits some and becomes a hero even though they upset a silent majority who have more things in their lives to be a professional protester. see how far we,d get from the councils if one of these were performing somewhere and we didn,t like it.
