The biggest fear I have is the reaction of kids who might now think I'll try that because they do try and emulate the Pros, as we all know.
WE have to promote what is good for the game and nobody will ever convince me what Rose did was, in any way shape or form, good for the game.
If he was signed by Pools tomorrow, then tomorrow would be be the start of my boycott until he pisses off.
That's how strongly I feel about this.

think there are far worse stuff thats crept into the game over the years than this isolated orners incident. worse is players trying to get fellow proffesionals cautioned and sent off along with the rolling around in fake agony to obtain something from the ref. constant time wasting especially from keepers without anything jappeneng to em till near the end of the game. wrestling at corners that big daddy would be proud of. all this happens in every game as it will tonight. the repeat of the rose incident will not.

Yes and I mentioned all that was wrong earlier on and most players get involved in these antics but thankfully very few have been found cowering in the nets hoping to go unnoticed by the goalie. I'd like to think the reason for that is because most players believe that sort of behaviour is plumbing the depths and it's about time the authorities followed their lead.
I have played in hundreds of games and watched thousands of them and last Saturday was the first time I saw a player crouching in the nets. I don't like it and I believe the authorities should stamp on it before it becomes the norm, like the other antics you have mentioned have become the norm.
I agree it's not breaking the rules but would argue it should be breaking them. It is definitely outside the spirit of the game.

all in all i do think the game now gives you more reasons not to attend than to do. thats when you get there with all the extra problems you now have with the cost and parking at some away grounds. then the match itself can be a bit insipid unlike they were. thought many time, is your journey really necessary anymore.

or did it ever actually exist. no player likes being kicked but some like it less than others. harry storer circa 1955. bradford manager rings up storer aroud 1956 complaining about the attitude of 6 or 7 derby players in the previous game. storer asks the name of the other 4 or 5 to give em a bollocking. differnt era but different spirit.

Yeah. Pools are always the ones who get bullied.

I must have missed the delivery of rose coloured specs about the past.

In what imaginary Good Old Days was there never an 'insipid' match involving Pools? If I could have a tenner back for every one of the shite 0-0s and 0-1s I've stood or sat through at the Vic I'd be a very happy man

Tonight may be the day to change this and give them a good kicking unless of course they are bigger than us.

true, but there is a big difference to an error strewn shit game than some of todays insipid stuff where you never see even a decent tackle and a pin point long pass with players actually attempting to get round defenders and its one short pass after another by both teams. surely you have been to games where you could have gone for a piss and a team is still pissing around with sideways/backwards passing in their own half when you get back. then there are the attempts on goal where mostly they are in single figues with even less on target.

Football at the top level consists of endless passes and holding possession looking for the opportunity to score when it finally arrives….. it ain’t entertaining but is efficient, but if I wanted efficient I’d watch clips of engines running, which would be marginally less entertaining.

thats even drifted down to the sunday league especially when you get a young side in their late teens early twenties playing. they even copy the pro game in their warm ups. hated reffing games like that prefering to attempt to control two sides of unfit fat blokes trying to kick each other. you get more satisfaction and have earned your money when you do.

I suspect that football bombarded at us as it is on the media for the past 20+ years, we now see the game in a different light….I think a lack of football on the box apart from Match of the Day once a week or even Pools on Tyne Tees Shoot once a year made us possibly appreciate the game more back in the seventies and eighties, by it’s scarcity …there were no fanzines or message boards to compare views with apart from those in your circle so you had limited opportunity and possibly enjoyed it more…. Yes there was lots of dross, but I suspect supporters then were more tolerant of that and a lot less entitled simply because expectations were never raised.

if you can afford it by paying for every subscription channel i doubt there is a day that goes by without a live game being shown. then we have ifollow to watch pools mid week for exiles and those who do not like travelling at night. in time to come people will turn there backs on the game unless it does become more exciting and not lawed to death with nothing to talk about to your mates as no mistakes are ever made. enjoy pies, chops and chips but not for every single meal.
