Theo Robinson to sign for Pools this week, experienced league striker. FL refusing to accept Maguires registration. At ground on Saturday mixing with supporters.

I would have thought a central defender or midfielder would have been the priority ?

The problem is what is available until the transfer window opens.

more interesting is maguires registration not being allowed. unless there is a lot we do not know, and being fans we are the last to know, the player is not being allowed to carry on with his job and now not being paid. some solicitors will be getting excited about this one.

Mr A if you took someone on as a bus driver then discovered their licence was suspended then trashed after they drove into a load of blind nuns when they were actually asleep in the convent, you’d sharp get rid, lawyers or no lawyers.

Earlier this season Robinson failed a medical after a successful trial at Mansfield. Hope ours is equally thorough.

Watching Mansfield play I’d imagine a racehorse failing a medical there.

think its closer if you took someone on with a court case pending rather than taking someone on who has been found guilty, unless in his case the league have actually suspended him anyway and i missed the news of it. can stuff like this only happen at pools.

Robinson is nearly 34yrs old and looking at his record he’s had about 18 clubs last being Bradford City where he hardly played and given free transfer. Sorry doesn’t inspire me. Question is where do you get a decent player who is a out of contract.

Agree 100%. Dont want to sound negative but the prospect of Robinson is hardly inspiring though as you say, probably very few options in free agent market.

by all accounts this kid is finished - not even a nice to have from the bench.. probs got better in Grey (why on earth he isnt getting minutes but the likes of Joli and Wastie are is beyond me) - team is rife with under achieving dross

2 nuns were riding their bicycles through the back streets and alleys of Rome

One turns to the other and says "I've never come this way before"

The other nun says "It's the cobblestones"

Here's one in the same vein that is even older!

Two nuns go to see The Sound Of Music. They enjoy it so much they sit through it twice.

Leaving the cinema, they realise they're going to be late for curfew. They decide to climb over the wall in the convent garden and hope no-one will notice.

They climb over the wall and the Mother Superior is standing on the other side.

"We're ever so sorry" they say, "We've been out after hours."

"Don't worry girls" says the Mother Superior, "I'm just off out after mine."

Man goes to the doctors for an insurance medical, halfway through the examination the doctor stops and tells the man no more masturbating. When the embarrassed man asks why, the doctor replies…”because I’m trying to examine you.”.

I was in Starbucks recently when my stomach started rumbling and I realized that I desperately needed to fart

The place was packed but the music was really loud so to get relief and reduce embarrassment I timed my farts to the beat of the music.

After a couple of songs I started to feel much better. I finished my coffee and noticed that everyone was staring at me. I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my Ipod with my ear piece

Another man goes to the doctor's and said that every time he had a shite it came out like chips. The doctor asked him to drop his kecks. After examining him the doc went to his drawer and took out a pair of scissors. A bit alarmed at the sight of the scissors the man asked what the doc was going to do. I'm going to cut six inches off your string vest came the reply.

A soldier ran up to a nun. Out of breath he asked "Please may I hide under your skirt. I'll explain later"

The nun agreed and a moment later two Military Police ran up and asked, "Sister, have you seen a soldier?"

The nun replied "He went that way"

After the MP's ran off, the soldier crawled out from under the skirt and said "I can't thank you enough, Sister. You see I don't want to go to Iraq"

The nun said "I understand completely"

The soldier added, "I hope I'm not being rude but you have a great pair of legs"

The nun replied "If you looked a little higher, you would have seen a great pair of balls . . . . I don't want to go to Iraq either"

The Mail has picked up on the Robinson story. They say Pools are linked with him and mention he was close to signing for Mansfield but dont give a reason why the deal fell through. If he did fail the medical (as claimed earlier in the thread) at Mansfield, why would we sign him? Are our standards of fitness lower? At knocking on 34 he is going to be "an impact" sub at best. Nope, not impressed.

With apologies to Percy Simon and Terry Garfunkel.

…..And here’s to you Theo Robison, Poolies want to know if you are fit,
Let’s have no shit.
God help you please Theo Robinson, Poolies love a player who can play,
That’s our way.

We’d like to know a little bit about you about you to decide,
If you’re fit or not to join the team,
If you’re your not just saddle up and head back out of town.
It now looks like we’re surely going down.

If he's looking for a last pay day, I would have thought we are one of the last clubs he should be looking at!!

He may be on a pay as you play - hes running out of options this late on, only other chance he realistically has is the NL.

id like to hope if we did get him - he has enough in the tank for the first 60/70 mins and can actually cause problems - go one better and score goals. Impact subs... we have Grey (not getting a game) Wastie (say no more) Joli (say no more) and Mcdonald depending if he starts or not.
if there is a problem with him and we do sign him and he becomes an unfit impact sub then i have no sympathy for us if we go down.

or just a used sub with no impact. last time i saw him live was with donny rovers years ago and he looked 34 even then. expected him to be better with a bigger impact on the game.

Is it even going to happen? Still no announcement from the club.

It might be a daft rumour like the one that had Doncaster Rovers fans in a flap - that Paul Hartley was about to be announced as their new manager. Hope a Poolie started that one

Nope. The only players we are allowed to sign are players who are currently not contracted to any other club. The next transfer window opens on January 1st and lasts for one month.

Signed short term contract. As soon as he spoke to manager knew it was right to come and he turned down other clubs. I think I’ve heard this before!!

"We need time to get him fit." Definitely heard that before!

If he's to be the new Marlon Harewood, can we please not play any Geordie non-league clubs in the FA Cup 3rd Round?

Should go back to the old school of recruitment.
Chief Scout n assistant manager looking for talent.
Even if its on a pools matchday. Sweeney could step into an assistant role.
Then the manager only says if hes good enuf or wants him. Then you need the Chairmans backing.
Cant be any worse than the shite weve signed since returning to the efl under this computer recruitment team.
And a know Injurys are part of the game but we always seem to be top of that league.
Theres room for improvement for sure.
In the meantime its all about staying up
Surely an easier task than goin down n coming straight back up given the ever improving standard of the national league.
Would like to see Wrexham miss out again.
Score plenty of goals but poor defence will keep them non league.!!

Still think we needed cover up front if Hamilton is injured, only him and Umerah are out and out strikers.

The quality of Hamilton's shooting is truly awful, his efforts in the Carlisle game were dismal, he needs to show that he can find the back of the net, otherwise he's just another in a line of many strikers who we've been carrying in the last few years with no end product.

Where'd you get the idea that signing Robinson is "computer recruitment?"

Keith Curle at last night's fans' forum:

"He’s got a personality. He knows where the goal is. He’s got experience and I think he can get the best out of other players in and around him. He’s got a good understanding of the game.”

""I’ve known him previously and Colin West has worked with him previously at Southend.

“I had a couple of conversations with him - he knows exactly what I want from him, not only in the changing room but on the pitch as well."

"He anticipates in and around the box and with some of the opportunities we’ve had recently, with the ball bouncing around the box, we just need that centre-forward to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Sounds like the manager thinks he's "good enuf."

[Did you attend the fans forum Mr Hogans?? If you did can you give us the gist?[/quote]

No, I wasn't there. The parts of the forum relevant to the Robinson signing are in this Mail article: https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/ ... ng-3879344

That's what I was quoting from. No doubt the Mail will drip feed other bits from the fans' forum that they think were interesting in sperate articles over the next week or so.
