Hey,Glasses,Elvis Costello at Glastonbury 89 is still one of my all time favourite festival gigs,I just got my old cassete of the guig transferred to CD a few weeks ago too

On the subject of Stiff, the only piece of their vinyl I seem to have left is a 10 inch single 'The Israelites' by Desmond Decker

My one and only glimpse of Declan McManus live was at Rock on the Tyne, August Bank Holiday weekend 1981, at Gateshead Stadium. Despite liking his music, I was seriously underwhelmed by his performance. Enjoyed Ian Dury & the Blockheads, and Rory Gallagher, but was very impressed by a little known Irish group called Y3, or something like that, no U2 that was it.

Was surfing the net earlier for info on the weekend, and came across someone selling the programme for 35 quid. Now were did i put my copy?

I was there Billingham, and at the same event the year after!

We didn't go in '82, we would have been saving up for our wedding in '83, and buying our first house later that year.

They will..highlights included seeing some vintage Costello even I'D never seen before, a great Kursaal Flyers documentary on Friday Night ( even though they weren't on Stiff you can see why they were on), great bits on Jona Lewie, Ian Dury, the one and only Nick Lowe (a genius...) and the fantastic, beautiful, amazing Rachel Sweet who I met playing pinball at Redcar in 1980!

Absolute class.

I bumped into one of the Kursaal Flyers at the last Reading festival I did in ooohhhh....1999 I guess. He's an engineer with BT now and was working on the comms at the festival We lent them a pass to get cheap beer back at our tent and had a very boozy and convivial evening. Nice chap. :sweet: :sweet:
