I was obviously over optimistic after the Northampton game when I said Gillingham..
Maybe it’s Harrogate away it finally happens ?
Not sure I can see a win in the next 2 fixtures, Mansfield away is pretty much a guaranteed piping, and Doncaster are a bunch of shithouses by all accounts so don’t see our defence standing up to that

I always remember Moncurs team being abysmally bad (albeit with some decent players…but this one seems worse?

Four home games in October and that away game at Harrogate - I reckon by the end of next month we’ll have 15 points in the bag…

Our victory has been booked in for the 12 th of never.
Nothing was as bad as Admiral ‘Moncur’s team’…. that was wrist slashingly dire…. Moncur was so laid back he was horizontal……more interested in his sailing than coaching it appeared

thought it would have been yesterday to be honest and nothing to do with the new manager bounce. possibly it will happen when least we expect it away from home with one of those victories where our only shot goes in and our opponents hit every part of the woodwork and ben saves the rest. games like this crop up trgularly over a season.

I reckon we'll get a draw at Mansfield and beat Donny.
Stick my neck out and forecast 2-2 and 2-1.
Neck out further and say Umerah brace against Mansfield, Umerah and McDonald against Donny.
4 miiion to 1 but the bookie wouldn't take a couple of tanners. sadx

The attempted clearance that went to a Donny player is just one of those things; it's not exactly unusual at this level of football.

The bigger problem with Hastie is he doesn't do enough work when Pools don't have the ball. Can't see him getting many more chances unless he's prepared to work a lot harder than he looks like he's doing at the minute.

Agree! when he comes on for whatever time is left he should be busting a gut as any sub should be.

Agree again, but mistakes happen at most levels of football so I don’t fret over that, but if he doesn’t meet Curles demands I dare say he’ll be warming the bench if he’s lucky.
I suspect his appearance may have been an opportunity for Curle to run the rule over him in a proper match.

never actually seen the bloke play live so its just a guess by the few times he got the ball last night. is he one that also does not bust a gut to be available to recieve the ball so there are better options available on the pitch to play someone else in. do not want any player to be a failure as it affects the rest of the team by lessening the numbers available for selection.

So glad it wasnt just me who noticed how dis-interested and lack luster Hastie looked - his clearance was half assed like all his displays (was his fault for their goal). He lost his way along time ago and hasnt bothered to get himself back on track. Soon be playing in the dog and duck league in some highland shithole if he doesnt buck his ideas up. No doubt last night was a live trial - one in which he failed for me. Strutted about the first 10 mins whilst on the pitch like he had another 90 infront of him to contend with ! Play Grey for me.
Was an inspiring performance from all the others who before last night didnt look good enough for this league - hopefully this is us turning a corner now and we push on and get the old Pools back where we actually win some games ! Get Sterry and Niang back and we even better for me - Getting Maguire into the side (if it ever happens) - will almost cement our position staying in league football

The attempted clearance you speak of, Fell to Cooke who then prodded it into the path of the donny scorer.

Hastie was also the one who cut inside from the right and laid the ball off to Fergie
Who then played it inside the defender to McDonald, The rest is history.

Never presume to judge a game from 10 minutes of edited highlights ;)
What you say is true as far as it goes, but it's also true that he did little else of note in half an hour on the pitch.

But he did do something unwittingly.
He gave Curle the opportunity to assess his performance in a proper match and draw his own conclusions as to his performance.

Yes I think Mr Curle and Mr Hastie will be having an interesting exchange of views as to the role and perhaps attitude of the young player.
Hamilton's contribution has upped a gear since KC arrived and the same will be expected from Hastie.
It's up to you son will be line.
I'm sure KC will give him every encouragement but he is just as likely to tell him he's not in the plans unless there is marked improvement.

It’s a tough one but Wastie wins the worst signing of the summer award
Others look poor but doing their best but wastie looks disinterested as well as poor

i made sure to watch Hastie when he came on - from the same point of view i would in my other profession watching young lads play the game. His body language and attitude was dire - yes he got the ball on the wing and darted past a man (as should any attacker with a fresh set of legs). But its everything else he didnt do that didnt impress - he needs to step it up not just one but about 3 gears to make an impact at this level. Curle doesnt carry passengers nor play them by all accounts ! He will be pushed out come Jan i can see it now - shite loan deal back in scotland.

what makes it worse i thought he,d be our best scottish signing before seeing him play. there needs a long discussion between player and manager now to decide where he goes from here. like all pools players i want them to do well in there time with us but if they cannot be arsed then quicker they go the better. one bad apple could spoil the rest quickly.

Wastie the perfect example of a casual poorly researched signing from a manager who thought he knew it all--not as ridiculous as signing that kid from Sunderland after seeing him for half a friendly but pretty close.
Hartley looks worse and worse as time passes

nothing against Taylor but he doesn't look strong enough yet for mens football.
And recruiting him on the back of a friendly with no other research was unforgiveable

Not sure how it's supposed to benefit a young lad learning his trade when Pools don't have a reserve side, play very few behind closed doors friendlies and he's not making the matchday squad. In those circumstances a full year on loan with us could do his career prospects more harm than good.

for his sake it may be better to send him back so they could loan him out to blyth or someone like that.
