I'm happy to leave it to the manager to pick the team.

Featherstone, Niang, McDonald and Odour are another four who will always be in with a shout of a start if fit.
And at least one of Lacey or Murray is pretty much undroppable till the transfer window as Pools have only got 3 centre backs on the books.

More to the point, I've seen enough bad teams at the Vic already this season to think Pools have enough to stay up - which is a long way from saying there isn't a load of room for improvement .

lets get one thing straight - our team of so called misfits are starting to pull together... starting to get results against teams higher up the table.

i for one am shocked but very reluctant to say i was wrong also in thinking we wouldnt get out of this mess anytime soon.

we have shown (and not just over the last 3 games) that this bunch are capable of staying and fighting it out at this level, hell even better been good enough for this level !

should we add in a Fit and fully functioning Sterry and Niang - plus if i ever see the day Maguire dons the blue and white then this current squad is more than capable of getting out the shit now - Hell even Harrogate and Stockport are doing worse than us just now its a shame the table doesnt reflect it !

dare say we add some defensive cover come Jan and another CM / attacking Mid and ya never know we might just be knocking on the play off door ! funny owld game !

for me no player should be guarenteed a start even if what they have done in the past was good. get your place back by fighting for it and doing that bit more in training, and if you get on from the bench make sure that you start for the next game. for many seasons i have got the impression of the team sheet having names already printed on it that only get crossed off if they are suspended or injured.

The last time we made the play offs from this sort of bad start roughly 22 years ago.
We had 2 outstanding players in G Watson and me alltime favourite winger Paul Smith : Game changing players.
But do admire the optimism.
Jusy stop up as i dont expect much to happen in January even if we get Man Utd away 3rd round FA Cup. Optimism!
UTP.

how a Paul Smith And Gordon Watson would change this current side just now - This team is probably 2/3 quality players off being a good team on its day - id say get in a CM who can run and change a game (these type of players cost money or require Arsenal to loan us their next Patrick Viera .. aint happening) - next, a CB who is again very very good and could potentially organise the shit show we have atm ! Then a striker, one of which we actually have and cant play... couldnt make it up !

bit like a script for a soap opera at the moment or a carry on film but it is not funny for us.
