Completely agree. Lineup and subs even more lucky dip than Hartley. Who would have thought having a settled 11 in pre-season heading into the season would be a recipe for success?

Odour looks a player - but looks unfit.

Quite an amazing result considering the quality of the opposition. Umerah finding his shooting boots is a very promising sign. By all accounts we rode our luck but we wont play many teams with the quality of Mansfield and one good result doesnt make it a good season but maybe a bit of a lift out of the despair most of us were feeling.

Bit of fight and could be a great point. Shocking how we have let this team get this bad though. Something to build on though 2 draws.

We were bad for most of game but still got a point and might even have nicked it! excellent. Did I read the stats right for successful crosses for Mansfield was 13/40 !! 40 crosses!! Unbelievable Jeff. We need to shut down teams from getting that many crosses.

Agree.
I'm wondering if he wasn't expecting a result himself,so decided to experiment a bit before 2 important home games.
If so,he's learnt Umerah must start.

Wasn't expecting that but it's something the team can build on to never give up. Let's see a bit of that v Doncaster please.

the flip side on Umerah is that he is so physically strong maybe having him for last 30 mins against tired centre halves makes him more dangerous...
Still think he has to start but another way of looking at it

Better than I was expecting. When there second goal went in I feared the worst, but pleasantly surprised.

Curle said as much in the Mail. He didn't start Umerah because he thought that the Stags three centre halves would have enjoyed the challenge but would be less keen with 30 minutes to go and Josh fresh, angry and frustrated with a point to prove (I am paraphrasing). Looks like Curle got that call 100% right. Either that or he was lucky. Whatever the case, I dont care.

I saw the match on ‘I follow’….seen five now this season, so I’m getting a reduced dose.
On reflection, any Pools team going to an in form Mansfield would cause me to fear the worst, but they battled away and came back from a two goal deficit, can’t ask more than that.
I noticed the players at the end went to applaud the away support but for the first time this season, they had smiles on their faces.
I suspect the Mansfield fans were expecting three points in the bag, like us, but we’ve been there as well and sometimes football slaps down your expectations.

On a lighter note, me sprawled out on the couch, headphones on, watching it on my I pad with Ratboy laid on top of me then  …..terriers pick the most awkward bleedin time to want to go out for a pee…thankfully the wife intervened.

or did the poor pre season cause our worst two displays of the season the 4 nil defeats at walsall and blackburn. we nicked a point we didn,t really dieserve last night in the same way colchester, crewe and gillingham did to us. big week coming up for pools with two home games to break our winning duck. nothing but one win by 5 next saturday will do.

it might not have been pretty but until their first went in we held them quite well. held a team away that are the favourites for many to be promoted. only mistakes my murray not marking his man and killip spoiling an excellent performance by going back in flapper mode broke the deadlock. actually a 2 all draw would give the players more of a boost than a goaless draw would have done. we might have not won but we have not lost since hartley mcjam face departed.

That's a very charitable way of looking at Curle's starting line up. Josh Umerah is as strong as an ox and would have been in the Mansfield centre backs faces for the full 90 minutes if he'd started. As it was, they had a very easy first half marking Ndjoli and took complete control of the game. Then scored 2 quick goals against the manager's masterstroke of playing nobody up front - till Umerah came on. No way is he an impact sub

off to watch stockport play walsall this afternoon. had a quick look at their bunker and found out they had lost one game more than us. just think if we had turned some of those draws into wins.

Yes, well Done Umerah. First goal class and worthy of any level to be raved on about. First half couldn't believe how much space and the times their number 2 was allowed to play at will down that right wing. Also well done Ben K. Let's hope its not the old Pools having got something last night to not turn up against Donny. Well done Pools.

Save ya breath Snowy, Some people will always see what they want to see.

When we were young and out and about we always said the loud mouths were the ones
Who daren,t say nowt at home.

Some dour dour posters on here, or maybe they know the innards of a football club and a coaches/players mental and physical capabilities.

I know it was only a draw, but it feels like a win. Now we must build on it on Tuesday. Just noticed this is three games unbeaten under Keith Curl.
Not time to get the Champagne out just yet but the trend is less downward.

I agree but this stems from some buggers not having the grown up skills to disagree without being a dick about it. That needs to stop as well.

I don’t know if it was just me but there was a bit more of an urgency about them. Where was Hartley taking them for training, McDonald’s…?
I wonder if Curle’s experiment with formations has finally been settled in his head.

Putting a roof on the pergola I’m building this morning, Ratboy is a faithful terrier, follows me everywhere so comes down to sit on a chair and watch me.. after a couple of hours she who must be obeyed comes down and says to him “Are you watching him do the roof?”.
Oddly he yawned but never answered…I’ve got a stiff neck from shaking my head  .

I thought it a bit harsh of criticism on Killip for second goal. Yes he did flap but he was on his line with 3 or 4 six foot plus players on top of him. (Watch the replay)

If you look at recent form some of those teams just above us (Walsall, Wimbledon, Colchester and Harrogate) are on worse runs than us - three of those teams have only one point in five games and Colchester have achieved two.

October is a massive month for us with four home league games and also an away game at Harrogate. The table could have a much different look in a months time.

Hopefully establish a settled system and grind some big results out in October. Rochdale’s forward line is pretty strong, expect them to pull away. Colchester and Harrogate are the two for me that we may be able to drag into our spot.

Stockport have Bradford next. Defeat and I think that might be times up for Dave there.

Good wins for Wimbledon, Gillingham and especially Newport today beating Orient.

Two out of Crawley, Colchester and Harrogate could be filling the relegation spots by the end of October.

If Challinor does get the boot at Stockport my money would be on him finishing up at whichever one of Wrexham, Notts County and Chesterfield misses out on promotion from the NL this season.

As things stand he's a specialist at getting teams into the EFL, no more than that. You'd think though that Stockport's owner would give him another month or two to see if he can turn things around.

And well done Mrs. Snowy for doing her bit with your Dogs, not sure mine would. :)

:-o

We just need 4 points out of the next 6 give us some sort of momentum.

Surely more than four, draws are all well and good but we desperately need that first win.

How do u get 4 draws from 2 games. sctatchinghead sctatchinghead :o

Dont even think about back to back home wins anymore. Thats the level of lowness been created at HUFC.
Yes Billy: A draw n a win is acceptable.
Surely not an extension to 22 winless games.

Morning Snowy nice morning to take u 4 legged matey for a walk.

A win and a defeat is more acceptable than 2 draws. If we had won 2 of the drawn games and lost a couple of them we,d be much higher up the league than we are now.

Can’t see him getting the sack…… trouble is you never know in these days of owners wanting instant results……. but I think he’s safe.

was like being at the vic there yesterday. they were far the better team but could only score one and then let walsall nick a point late on. we must have been really bad to concede 4 at walsall unless they have loads of players out from that game or they travel badly. anyway it was nice just watching a game where the result was not important and did not feel mentally or physically drained at the end.
