Looking at the league table we are only 3 points behind Stockport, 4 behind Walsall who started the season on fire so all is not lost. Mind you I would take a point at Mansfield all day though I can't see it happening.

I can see 3 teams getting drawn into a mini league by February.
Pools
Colchester
Gillingham
Maybe a Ludicrous points total of 40 being enough to retain EFL status.
UTP.

You were doing so well till you used the word ‘football brain analysis’… I certainly haven’t got one because predicting anything in football is like herding cats.

I dont think it is all that difficult to broadly predict certain league positions. Who will finish in the top four of the The Premiership? Most likely four out of six teams. Pretty clear who will not win the Premiership. Although there is no doubt that predicting individual results can be a lottery, the predicting of league table positions is based on what goes on in those 90 minute encounters over several weeks/months, so we are looking at trends which help with predicting likely final outcomes. In Pools case it is obvious that by Christmas they will not be top of the division and most likely will still be in the bottom four because the trend so far is that they are having serious difficulty winning over 90 minutes even against the worst teams in this league. As we all can see, Pools dont score enough goals and they concede far too many. Clearly, a new manager can make a huge difference to a team's performance and we are all hoping that Curle will instigate some changes in tactics/selection/training regime etc that might bring about an improvement, but it is far from guaranteed and the bookies who make money out of these things are not optimistic. I am a Poolie through and through like most on here and I am hoping Curle will drag us out of the mire.

until january all he will realistically be able to do is make us harder to beat. it will be easier to organise the team to become better defensivly than being a free scoring attacking side with what he has available. having a plan B and C will help as well.

It's going to be a shit show till January, unless miracles are worked. We somehow have to hang onto the bottom 4 teams so we're not cut adrift in January. Then it's down to what the club wants to do, how much they are willing to put into it to survive, hopefully with a manager that knows what he is doing this time.

If Curle is a stickler for fitness and we know how Sweeney feels about it, getting the players to peak fitness will definitely have an effect.
Players like Hastie have definitely got the skills but seem to be constantly blowing out their arses.
That could make the difference, that extra yard and all that,
Time will tell.

I expect to see a dramatic rise in fitness and familiarity and not all down to Curles arrival.

if the last two games are anything to go by there has been some improement there already. as for hastie, when did he kick a ball last for us. unless there is a change regarding him from the club or himself he could be first out of the revolving door.
