Proven striker at higher level, bit of a /edge to him and loves a flutter….I am getting echoes of the Gordon Watson signing after our shite start that year !

One of the few (or the only) signings this season that I'd actually heard of previously ! Welcome aboard Chris, hope you don't miss too many games.

Oh yeah, forgot you have to be issued with rose tints and blinkers to love Hartlepool United.

He's a gamble. Lincoln didn't see a very good side of him even before the suspension. Could have been just a cladh of personalities. Worth the gamble? Definitely.

He was still getting selected regularly by Lincoln before they suspended him. Last played for them a month ago.

He's looking at a fine and/or several months' suspension from playing if the FA find him guilty of breaching betting rules. No idea how long these things take to come to a decision.

so he could end up having a very short career with pools if they throw the book at him. do not know what the usual punishment forwhat he has done are but remember he is a poolsplayer now so they could make an example of him. if he does come off then a banner needs to be made, Chris Is Innocent.

he is a free agent as he left lincoln or they shoved him. as for being from north of the border i could not care less as long as he can play. even if he was a bench warmer for the gibralter u 17,s once it makes no difference where they are originally from.

The FA will have to take into account the particular circumstances of Maguire's alleged betting offences. It's difficult to judge from other cases and football tribunals have never exactly been noted for their consistency! If he's lucky he might get by with a 6-8 week ban.

In strange position of being able to ask colleagues who are Lincoln, Sunderland and Oxford Fans about Maguire. All said the same thing - a talented player when he can be arsed, but who seems more intent on winding players/fans up than positively influencing a game himself. Should be interesting if nothing else.

He dispenses with the usual 'pleased to be joining a big club' guff in his first interview on the OS. Needless to say, reasons for leaving Lincoln not mentioned!

He mentioned our fans in his interview and said he looked forward to playing for them and didn't expect the abuse he got last time he played against us. He must have been winding up the Poolie hordes on that occasion.
A proper narky type, just what we need.
As others have said, now get a brute at centre half.

As he is under investigation he might have been advised to keep quiet on the subject.

It’s not as if he only had one bet, On 22 August 2022, Maguire was charged by The FA for breaching betting rules after Maguire was alleged to place 52 bets on football matches between March 2017 and February 2022.[44] Maguire was subsequently suspended by Lincoln City.[45] On 1 September 2022, Lincoln and Maguire parted ways by mutual consent.[46]

Nobody said it was. A lad called Scott Kashket got a 2 month ban a couple of years ago when he was at Wycombe. He admitted to 183 bets, 65 involving games he was actually playing in!

Gordon Watson persuaded Le Tissier to get involved in a bet, he admitted it later in his book, no action was taken although the bet was lost.

2 month is a decent enough gamble then if it is 2 month, especially if the hearing is soon.

Yeah, it would be just our luck. Probs scores loads of goals and just as we are nearing play-off contention he gets a three month ban.

aslong as PH knows where to play him and hes match fit this kid will get us goals - Brings with him that shithouse attitude you need to get under the defenders skin and also doesnt shy out of a tackle which is great for a forward player.

will notch on his debut an also probs get to the 15 goals mark and known our luck get banned for 6 months

'an issue at the club' KC.
Doubt we'll be seeing him tomorrow.

What is the issue now? Has he signed/is he injured /has club been advised not to plat him while betting investigation is going on. If any of these options are right please tell us if not tell us as we are desperate for the goals he could add. All we asl is to be kept informed.

doesn't sound great--if we can get him fit and committed he would clearly be an asset--but at the minute it seems like another of Hartleys throw anything against the wall and pray something sticks approach.

thing is if it was an official with a charge of this nature against him reckon he would be suspended without prejudice until the investigation was concluded and the outcome known...imagine a ref or a linesman in a similar situation being allowed to be involved in a game...ridiculous like and it wouldn't happen so don't see why the same doesn't apply to a player ...or am i missing summat here..?.
