Getting slightly excited/optimistic about the coming season? After today's signing I think I might be, is that allowed?

Cautiously Optimistic at this moment in time.
Cautiously will go away if we bring in these 2 marquee /Stella signings.
Wasent that what a few fans were told by the hierarchy at the open day.
Believe it when/if it happens.

We will do well to make the Top half based on the squad. Above the bottom 6 the manager has done a great job I would say.

Yes, of course it it is. The alternative is to be a depressing git and what’s the point?
Poolies have always travelled in hope, long may it continue.

i,ll be happy with 12th or any place above. at least we will see some decent games after the unacceptable end of season after the totherham cup defeat. as snowy said Hope is a big thing with pools and i,m sure we,ll get more oit of victories than some clubs fans who just expect there clubs just to turn up and 3 points are on offer.

Yep. I'm getting excited for the season now.

There's a interesting interview with Walsall manager Michael Flynn here:
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/fo ... -campaign/

In terms of where they are now Walsall are a mirror image of the journey Pools are on with Paul Hartley. They've brought 15 in so far and only 5 of the players who started the last game of the season are still with the club. Pools have brought in 13 and yes, only 5 who started against Colchester in May are still here - Killip, Sterry, Featherstone, Crawford and Ferguson.

Flynn, who did a great job with Newport taking them from the brink of relegation to two play-off campaigns, is being very cautious in what he says about this season.
“We want to try and build a team for the future,” he said this week. “It’s going to take time for us to gel so that’s why I’m not getting carried away with getting promoted."

I think Pools have also got a proven winner in Paul Hartley. The fans know already that there's zero chance that this new Pools will be allowed to cruise along on a losing streak the way they did at the end of last season. But they're going to take time to gel too. I doubt very much (though I'm always hopeful rolf ) that Pools are going to take the division by storm. If we're powering up the league by October I'll be getting excited then!

I always say aslong as we stay up and are still in this League by the end of the season then its been a successful one given where we where 3 years ago and even longer back nearly brink of extinction. The building blocks are back and the determination is also back! i can see PH creating a squad around 6 key players in this team - next season we build and get stronger, PH knows the league better and knows what to expect. Can see us having a nice season just ticking over around mid table

Just drove past the ground and it’s the tidiest it’s looked for years with the new paint job. The club has an air of being run on seizing every opportunity to explore new revenue lines and after the doldrums years post Coxall is refreshing to see.
There’s a feel good air about the place… a bit of confidence, which has been missing.

do not worry the usual suspects will be back once there is a defeat for normal service to be resumed.

Mid table at best. This is a tough league. Hope for some exciting games though with big scores.

They’ve all flew out on holiday to Rumoania for a break.

another case of hopes and facts can feel miles away from each other once reality hits us.

When Hartley was appointed I was quite happy. When the signings started I became a little concerned. When I saw them play I became more concerned but now I have moved onto being worried about our league status. Yes it’s still early days and plenty of time to turn it round but at this moment I would snap your hand off for third bottom.

If we get to the end of October and things are no better, decisions have to be made.
However, I’d like to see things turning around by then, surely no sane person wants to see someone fail.

actually even without a full squad to pick from i do think there has been a slight if only a slight improvement in the last two games. tuesday night will be very interesting with opposition being a top half of the league type side to see how we do. always remember that hartley failing is the club are failing which is the most important thing unless you have an odd obsession with the bloke.

Lets hope the Crewe game goes well as 3 points would be a massive booster to all. Fingers crossed.
