Are we going to see any. It's getting a bit too close for comfort for my liking.

Think we need a new centre back and another forward thinking midfielder we least.
Ideally 2 centre backs to replace Murray and Lacey and another striker potentially to take Hamiltons place on the bench.
Only rumour I’ve heard is Joe White but we signed 2 on deadline day in January so who knows!

White isn't a rumour - it's been talked about in the papers for a couple of days. The Newcastle U-21 coach was asked about it after Newcastle's pizza trophy game last night and was non-committal as White is just coming back from an injury.

”His training has been quite good within our group and his performance first half on Friday [against Derby] was the level we expect and tonight, again, there was some good bits, mainly without the ball. It’s just that little bit of discipline when we’re in possession, and his roles and responsibilities, that we just need to try and tidy up."

Sounds familiar from last season!

Just wondering if a raw Newcastle youngster is the answer to our problems. The Sunderland youngster hasn't pulled up any trees.

if its last seasons white then thanks a lot but no. might have improved over the summer but certainly needs to have done to show any impact for us over a full game.

I think we need to go with a 532 formation for a while. We’ll need an attacking midfielder signed today for this to work well and probably a strike partner for Umerah, although the two lads did well the other night. We’ll need another centre back too as Sena seems to be more of a centre mid than centre half.

Where are the marque signings both Raj and Hobin spoke off. Too many supposed deals have broken down or just not true. I suspect nothing will happen today apart from maybe White on loan from Newcastle which will not solve our problems. Yet again w have been lied to about the clubs ambitions, budget and potential targets.

Dunno about lied to. Could it be the club had every intention of making the marque signings, maybe even come close but have been knocked back at the last minute? I prefer to think the club are doing everything possible to improve the team rather than just lying to the supporters. Clearly, there will be a budget that enables the club to remain in business but may mean we dont have the financial clout of other clubs in this division.

Just seen a link to Joe Shaughnessey from a journalist. Centre back currently at St Mirren

Apparently there are a few clubs after him, both in Scotland and England.

‘Lied to’ …seriously?…… which is defined as…’ to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive’…are you seriously suggesting that is so?

Paul Hartley has quite a bit to say about the prospect of deadline signings in this interview today:
https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/iFollow/

He'd like to get '3 or 4' in, would settle for 'a couple' but thinks its '50:50' whether he'll get anybody in at all!

It's clear that's not for the want of trying and it sounds as if Pools have made loads of enquiries for players. He admitted that Pools' bad start to the season is likely discouraging some from agreeing to come here.

Nelson?, in my opinion, he is to coaching what I am to octopus midwifery. Clueless.

The only occupation you get rewarded for failure, well apart from politicians some managers have made millions from being sacked a few times.

White had touches, but his overall performance during his stay would hardly warrant a place on the bench, never mind the pitch….can he have improved so dramatically in a few months?

Nelson has joined as part of the coaching staff for the interim manager. He was available and needed an income. Most of us saw him during his playing days with us will hopefully agree he was a decent player.
The likelihood is that he will be unemployed again soon but good luck to the fella for the time he's there. Having seen Scunthorpe down here at Woking, it is unlikely that he could make their defence worse.

On the track of Pools signings.. hopefully sufficient improvement to at least stabilise us. With 15 new signings already, they should by now know each other's names. As stated in one of the interviews.. free agents after transfer day are much more likely to come to Pools (irrespective of why they are unemployed).

As long as they aren’t going to breed from them.

Doesn't look very promising. Surely Newcastle could lend us one or two even if it's only for a couple of months.

Colchester sign a striker who scored 11 in the league last season and Marty longstaff.
Interesting to see a team in a similar position not struggle to strengthen the top end.
There’s still time but Pools journalists are all downplaying signings now saying 2 is the max they’d expect etc

Missed out on Longstaff, Quigley ( though doubt DC would sanction a move to Pools ) & Coburn.
Getting a bit concerned the closer we get to that "slamming window " !

Yep, 18 year old centre mid from Newcastle or Sunderland who we play as a winger for 3 games then never see again.

I stand by my statement about being lied to firstly Hobin stated to supporters at the opeb day that marque signings were coming in the following week, where are they. Then in his program notes and on Radio Tees Raj stated about the budget being good enough for at least play offs if not promotion . If these two statements are not meant to deceive then what is?

Think he may be refering to Hobins, Foot in mouth statement. "Judge us when the window closes"
Or what he said to supporters who were naive enough to listen to him at the openday, Supposedly said. Marque signing to mark the launch of the Away Strip.

The club may have had targets, doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get them, they failed, naive, wishful thinking, but not lying by any stretch of the imagination .
Raj’s comments are simply stating his ambition, just because you’ve got a budget doesn’t guarantee anything, the budget may well have been good enough but as neither you or I have access to the books we can’t prove or disprove the point.
To ‘deceive’ ..? to what purpose? What can be gained by deceit?

Hearing mumblings of Joel Dixon, goalkeeper from Bolton but take with a pinch of salt.

Sure we had him on loan that season we had about 3/4 2nd choice loan keepers. Not sure why we would sign him like. Would stink of signing someone for the sake of it.

We had Dixon on loan in 2014. Since then he went to play 189 games for Barrow but turned down a contract offer to sign for Bolton where he's made 29 appearances.

Apart from Joel Dixon, there seems to be no transfer noise at all. Hopefully, the club are just keeping cards very close to their chest.

The team is in dire need of improvement. So many targets missed. Staring a relegation battle right in the face based on what we’ve seen so far.

Not like we couldn’t see this coming. Scratch teams and an inability to fill a bench through majority of pre season. Now playing catch up!

Not sure of a battle we could end up cut adrift and the January window moot at this rate.
You can bet your house on longstaff scoring on Saturday
