Bless him, the player I always wanted to succeed at Pools and when he finally hit the net I was well chuffed for him.
Used to call him Johnny Plumrose in the Monkey Biz back in the day, with affection, I may add.
Such a shame.

RIP LENNY
A whole hearted player who always gave his best in the only too short a time he spent at Pools. He wrote an excellent book about his career and his illness. My favorite story about Lenny :It was at Halifax in a league cup game scores were level when Pools got a corner in front of the Poolies. The goalkeeper shouted leave the black b------ to me ball comes over and Lenny scores as the noise subsided Lenny shouted the black b------ scores again to rapturous applause, exact wat to treat racists.
The world has lost a great man and hope tomorrow night they will honor him accordingly.

RIP. Very sad. Even though it ended in a fire sale of players, I'll always associate Lenny's time at Pools as a period when we played some great winning football.

Hope his passing is remembered before the game tomorrow night.

RIP lenny..thanks for palace and all the rest..always gave 100% and a quality player..club record signing for us at the time i think..but ended up being paid by gibson in coins from the turnstiles..

“There was a time as players where we could not carry on. But we were told if you do not play, there’s no game, no revenue and no chance of getting paid."
"So there was a period where we were getting paid off the turnstile money and walking out of the ground with bags of coins.”

Good to see club giving minutes applause in 52nd minute in his memory. How about a bucket collection For The Lenny Johnrose Trust a charity he founded tp fight the terrible disease which claimed him at such a young age.

Just finished reading Len's book, 'Finding A Way' - really easy read, loads of cracking football tales and some shocking tales of racism and the challenges he faced in his later days. Well worth a read. He was a superb bloke and a true Poolie legend.

Lenny was my favorite pools player of that era, thanks for bringing his book to my attention - have just ordered it.

BGB - enjoy it! It's a book which is difficult to put down - and his searing honesty is amazing.
