Carver has gone but as regards replacement based on his fleeting performances, we could sign a pillar box for the same effect.

...so...maybe this lad might help us cope with the "massive void" created by the loss of carver..not sure he is as good but it looks as if he can play a bit..thing is hes been playing in the "dog and duck" leagues for years so perhaps not..just a thought..

Actually a pillar box might be less injury/illness prone.

..listen...know its no consolation like...appreciate he's gone and its a "massive void"..but at least we still managed to keep hold of jordan cook..seems hes "sharing" the number 19 shirt at the moment while he recovers from his latest injury "nightmare"..but you never know jords could be the answer to our void come christmas time...something to look forward to anyway eh?

Is Ralph Wright and he who said its too early available? Just a thought. Admittedly not a good one.

Ralph Wright…there’s a character from the early 70’s (1971?) played at centre forward with a cast on his arm, it may well have been useful in goalmouth melee’s….I have no doubt. He left Pools to play for Stockport……sadly he died in 2020.

Marcus Carver went for a fee (!) and to Scunthorpe, so still a step up from his Southport days.

Unfortunately he was like a rabbit in headlights in front of goal for Pools but there was nothing wrong with his attitude so I wish him all the best.

I really would have liked to see the lad succeed, but I suspect arriving to find yourself in Lee’s post Rotherham Siesta end to the season he was just standing still and marking time.

Good luck to the lad. At least he seemed to try his best, just not quite the talent or the time for him. Be interesting to see if he can succeed at Scunny.

do e carver to much, blame the clowns that signed him and paid good money on him. just wonder if they ever saw him play more than a game or just going off those highlights vids every player seems to have.

I was expecting him to go out on loan to a National League club to try to rediscover his goal touch. If Scunny see enough in him to want a permanent deal, fair enough. Hope they're not too long in the wilderness anyway.

would they have actually signed him though if was still at southport or chorley in the league below where they are now. not sure signing fringe players from div.2 is the way out of the wilderness.

accy..."would they have actually signed him though if was still at southport"

..errr..obviously of course yes...because lee turnbull our inept ex head of recruitment under the two boneheads....the "three amigos"...was responsible for carver signing for us from southport earlier this year..and turnbull is scunnys ceo now..thats the reason both ogle and carver are going there...

suspect whoever we bring in to fill the massive void will need to be able to graft as well as score...dont think hartley will put up with any who cannot or will not put a shift in and fitness is clearly high on his priority list...probably reflected in his choice of the best player he ever played with...

and if he stays fit and injury free he,ll have another 10 years in him if he got treated like matthews did when coming back to blackpool. left backs were shit scared of him because they did not want to be branded the player that finished matthews.

Now that Carver has gone and not counting Jordan Cook ( cos I have no idea where he fits in at the moment), we have a squad of 21 players, five of which are either goalies or under 20.
That means we have 16 that come under the max 20 per squad rule, plus Cook, so we are able to bring in another 3 or 4 over 20 years of age outfield players.
I wonder what the club's target for squad size is. It's pleasing to know further improvements can be made. PH says he is eyeing more recruitment. I wonder what is holding him up.

..me neither...we are showing the supercrock "sharing" a number 19 shirt with hamilton on the hufc o/s site at the moment..wtf ?.. never seen the likes before..my gut feeling is that he signed the contract put in front of him by bonehead straight away....couldn't believe his luck..but the club are not wanting to disclose this at present for some reason?...they will i would expect have to come clean soon as the clubs full squad needs to be registered with the efl for this season at the end of the month..if hes contracted he will need to have a squad number of his own attached to his name...

for some reason it seems to take ages nowadays from first talking to a player and the signing going through. the number of times you hear from players at pools and everywhere else at that initial interview of them saying its took awhile and are glad its eventually got through. who and what holds it up if not the player himself after the first offer especially if they are free agents.

See Lewis Allessandra signs for South Shields - Building quite the squad of ex Pools players - Him and Woods where part of that team that got us relegated - A suppose both now in their early 30s that may be a nice level for them to play at. Sure SS will get promoted this season.

You won't get rich though! 6/5 to win the League, Also Liddle, Martin Smith and Blair Adams with those 2. Missed 2 promotions with Covid but as you say hard to stop this time.
