The ref on Saturday is from Devon. Bound to be a bitterly resentful Gulls fan, so he'll give us nowt!

I-1. Joe Grey to score.

Walsall have only spent money on their new goalkeeper, all other players have arrived on free transfers.

They have played 7 friendlies, winning 2, drawing 1 and losing the other 4.

I think there is a fair chance of coming home with all 3 points - a tight 1-0 win

ill go with first game jitters for both and see it ending 1-1 - Hastie to get off the mark with a beuty.

I don’t. Just hope I’ve got it wrong but don’t feel too enthusiastic with our team going into this year. The signings are all gambles with which we know nothing about. Let’s hope they deliver.

It doesn't matter if we know nothing about the signings. The important thing is if PH knows anything about the signings, which I am sure he does, he strikes me as someone who knows exactly what he is doing & knows exactly what he wants from his team.

That’s the beauty of football. I might have it all wrong. When you look across the whole second division, our transfer policy certainly stands out. Let’s hope PH is the new messiah.

Let’s not forget - PH is also in his first season in the football league. It’s all one big gamble but an exciting one of course.

Mr Dog, when I said weeks ago about being ‘chilled’ out about the squad size, I knew he was the sort of bloke from experience who’d have had it sorted in his head before he even signed a contract, he prepares his ground, unlike some managers who walk in, do a bit of arse and badge kissing then see what comes up.
I only get chilled ‘when a pilots flying the plane’ so to speak, someone who knows what he’s doing.

Mr Snow, they should have had you on the recruitment panel for the job. I’m still struggling to understand how you already know how brilliant a manager PH is, given today is his first Pools match?

I’ll wait until the football starts before deciding he knows what he’s doing. Starting today.

Just looked at the League table and we are 12th & Walsall are bottom in 24th position.

Oh Shit no one has kicked a ball yet!

100% agree Snowy, Hartley rejected the first approach from Pools, he wanted it his way and looks like he got it.

I do my extensive research and draw my own conclusions. I never ever said he was a brilliant manager, I don’t know what’s gonna happen, nobody does, but the signs are good so far.
No manager who gets a job is going to be automatically good for a club, you just weigh up the facts, the pro’s and cons and pray you don’t get it wrong when selected.
Like I said somewhere else on here, I travel in hope, no point in doing anything else, or what is the point?

Agree with this post - disagree with your last. Let's see where we are come Christmas then we will know just how good our new man is. Good CV, let's see how it fares in England.

This isn't negativity, I am fully behind the new man. Will be at the ground very soon and will be getting right behind PH & the lads.
