Well I was there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great atmosphere and a very good game. Actually the ground was bouncing.
Looking forward to the final on Sunday.
I really hope our girls win it.

Bit of a walkover really after the first 15 minutes, helped by a couple of horrendous ricks from the Swedish keeper. On to Wembley and a sell-out crowd for the final.

The question is, will success for England in this competition translate into crowds of more than 3,000- 4,000 for games in the Premier League involving the likes of Man City Women? My guess is yes, but not by all that much!

It’s like Pools at Cardiff etc, they all come out of the woodwork for the big occasions, but next week crowds are back to normal….

not too sure about that. imagine some will have had their first taste of watching the womens game that is certainly more attack minded than what southgates 11 will come up with. even some women who avoided it might be prepared to see their local lasses play. there will be a few more taking up the game also but many will fall by the wayside as its not for them if they are crap at it. be a bit different though once winter arrives and it isn,t that pleasant playing or watching then.

It's a bit like that for county cricket v test match cricket, Also rugby union club matches (apart from a few) v the six nations.
I was pleasantly surprised last night, especially with the standard of the noble art of passing a football.
Pools would do well to get anywhere near the standard of passing both teams displayed.
I thought that the Swedish goalkeeping left a lot to be desired and I reckon that the lack of goalkeeping height generally in the Women's game has a lot to do with it.
Sweden had height advantage all over the pitch and loads of pace but apart from early on didn't use it.
I think the occasion got to them more than England. They could have been three up before England scored, something we need to work on, getting out of the blocks quicker. We were behind the goal and were literally yards from the backheel. Cheek personified bit it surprised everyone. I also saw the very slick way Lucy Bronze pushed their attacker off the ball in the box, which could have been a penalty on another day. It was very clever the way she did it.
They've definitely come a long way and, I for one, would not turn down the opportunity to watch them again. I've never watched a Woman's premier league match but I'll be looking out for the chance as from now. They play entertaining football if last night is anything to go by. It's certainly nowhere near kick and rush. Listening to women sitting near us they know what they're talking about.
As I said, pleasantly surprised and no ringing of the ears.

I doubt we'd get the England Ladies team to play an international at the Vic like we did in 2014 - also a 4-0 win over Sweden.

They do ping it around at pace, don't they? Ironically, Spain passed and close marked England off the park the other night and it was good old English grit that got the lasses through.

Aye, the good old adage of who wants it more comes into play plus all the possession in the world is only effective if there is an end product.
We can certainly keep the back door shut, only one goal conceded and eighteen scored. That is impressive in any language.

It might be like when the NFL hit our shores (media wise) via channel 4 in the 80's. Lots of interest for a couple of years, then eventually it became what it is now, with a minority following. Mind you, I'm guessing the BBC will still keep 'ramming it down our throats'.

I’d call it impressive in terms of the mens game, standards are obviously similar there. The women’s game’s standards seem to fluctuate, seems like Premier League to non league.

ignore the hype, do not compare it to the mens game and possibly we will all enjoy sundays game especially with the sound off.

That's just it; it does bear comparison with the men's game. It's played over 90 minutes with the same size pitches and goals, and the best women players are highly skilled athletes. At the minute only a dozen or so countries have the resources and investment to compete equally - the Northern Ireland side England beat are part-timers - but that will change as more money goes into the game.

I'm still not gonna be watching WPL games on TV but if Pools put a decent women's side together - like they had a few years ago - I'll look out for their results, same as the Academy lads team.

I kid you not, on the radio this morning Kier Starmer is proposing a new Bank Holiday if the ladies win on Sunday.
Really? …or just a bit of popularity chasing.

I think the bold Kier has a bit of bother brewing from the Unions and Momentum. Sacking people for backing the strikes, how dare he. There are mumblings of a leadership challenge. Maybe the natives see the publicity the Tory leadership campaign is getting and are feeling a bit left out. See what I did there, a bit left out ha.

Labour leader shooting himself in the foot again, nowt changes. The sensible part of the Party are in despair. I said it the other day. The split in the Labour Party will make the split in the Tory Party look like Cinderella's tea party.

The Labour Party is divided….. there’s the tidy, well suited, well booted, suits and twin sets following Starmer’s road to nowhere and Corbyns guerillas whose idea of a wild night out is printing ‘Tories Out’ banners in the Labour offices.
One group sort of see what the public think but their inbuilt workers in a suit holds them back and Corbyns lot just want to make noise.
They ain’t gonna kiss and make up any time soon.

Aren’t the unions the biggest founders to the Labour Party, if he loses their support we will be looking for a new leader. I would rather hack my right hand of than vote for the Tories but the Labour Party need to try and make themselves electable. Unfortunately we have a right wing press who determine what party is going to be in power. We have already had the some Tories admitting it was a mistake to get rid of Johnson.

a right wing press, a left of centre tory party and a right of centre opposition leader. apart from the name i personally do not think there is much between em. just a pity that both party,s seem to ignore what their members and core support want out of them both.
