Was at Aldershot last season, only played in the States for a month or so and bagged 4 in 5. Looks pacey and two footed and we desperately need depth at winger so makes complete sense to me.

Does he need International clearance now?

If so how long does that normally take?

Had loans at Kilmarnock and Motherwell; maybe PH knows him from then.

I’ll ask that bloke in Blackhall who practices the bagpipes in the car park at the coastal park to do us a wee ditty….. on second thoughts no, he’s dire. :character-willie:

Another young and pacey forward. It'll be a miracle if all these signings come off, but I'm loving the intent.

Paul Hartley's new squad has got 'attack, attack, then attack some more' written all over it

I'd rather watch a 5-3 win than a 1-0 anyway

It's difficult to judge how we will get on as most of us won't know a lot about some of the new lads. We don't know how they will gel and settle in but a lot of clubs are in the same boat. I see a lot of clubs signing players I've never heard of as well but it doesn't make them automatically crap. So many negative comments on twitter etc when they haven't seen players play!. I trust Hartley and think he will come good but will need some time, he's looking for pace and power from what I'm seeing so should hopefully mean excitement.

It's got to be time now for a quiet announcement that Jordan Cook isn't part of Pools' plans for the season. We've got plenty of forwards at this point and this is with only one loan signing so far out of 5 potentially allowed.

Most players coming to any club will be unknown quantities to us in some respect, nothing unusual there, as long as they’re known to the manager or associates.

The Quantity is nearly complete.
Not sure about the Quality.
Will find out by the results!
Takeing Hope from last seasons league Two was nowhere near the standard well above Vanarama.
Apart from Orient away no team outclassed us.

some good points made. at least there is no overconfidence or the opposite. thing is i have heard that people think the division will be stronger this season. something i cannot see with the total lack of knowledge of what our opponents have done regarding new players. doubt there is a basket case like scunny were from day one but have a feeling there will be a couple of oldhams popping up during the season. just because we have never heard of the new lads will not make em crap. a few signings of league 1 and 2 journeymen does not guarentee success either. if we manage a good start some including me may be quietly surprised come may.

didn,t know he was still about. one of my dogs hated him and that racket he made. always thought bagpipes to be a non musical instrument of torture where those playing them have a case of compensation for industrial deafness.

According to the bookies Pools are still among the favourites to go down, along with Barrow, Rochdale, Harrogate and Colchester.

On the other hand, you can get 14-1 for Pools to be promoted, which is quite tempting. Stockport are 6/4 or less to be promoted before a ball has been kicked. No pressure there Chally!

Problem we have is we are relying on lads to put the ball in the back of the net that have rarely done it in the past. Lad from wealdstone possibly the exception, though that's at a lower standard.

Seems a lot more life and attacking Intent in the team, which after watching the last ten games, will be a pleasant surprise hopefully.

Rumours that we might sign that lad from Leeds on loan, still strong maybe someone we just need.

He played half a season at Kilmarnock, indifferent reports say very pacy, lacked aggression and poor distribution but that was 3/4 years ago so hopefully has matured and I am sure PH will put some aggression into his game. One fella even said worse than Nicky Kabamba.

Certainly true that most of the signings not known to most Poolies but I am feeling cautiously optimistic because Niyang in defence and midfield is getting rave reviews from all who have seen him play. Cook from Bradford is a proven player at our level, Umarah has had a lot of praise from those who have seen him (mobile, holds it up, quick, always ready to shoot etc) Hastie has had massive positive comments and Tumulty has had positive comments. So, that leaves a small number that have only just arrived or who have not featured much. I will settle for that. By the way, cautiously optimistic means we will do OK, I am not daft enough to think we are promotion contenders when the season hasn't even started.

Apart from Cooke the majority of our new signings are gambles.(the usual cheap options ).
Just hopeing plenty of our fans can turn the Bookmakers over.
Maybe the January Window required to get us to the top 7.

In my view, and with a few exceptions, the vast majority of players at this level are journeymen with little to choose between them. The tactics, training and motivational skills of the manager are far more important.

We’ve seen this ourselves many times when a manager has been changed and players go from shite to great in a week and vice versa of course. Ultimately it comes down to the management team and I suspect we have a good ‘un.

As soon as he was appointed I checked him out and the signs were all positive…. at least as in respect of the things I expect of a manager. I found Lee’s ‘style’ lackadaisical in contrast.
I expect a real driven management style and think he’s the sort of manager who can get players to perform for him when other manager’s couldn’t . There’s some shrewd football politics behind some of his signings where he’s seen a niche and exploited it.

I think we could all be in for a surprise this season with PH proving a very capable manager who will be able to motivate and mould these new players into a very workman like team playing attractive football.

I believe a league position in the top half is more than achievable.

PH will be able to use the next 2/3 seasons to enhance his CV and his name will be mentioned in Championship Clubs as a potential future Manager.

I am hopeful that his impact on the club will be similar to Neale Cooper 1st time and when Danny Wilson came in. He has been allowed to bring his players in and seems to be very attack minded. We have some tough games early on but as they say you have to play them all twice in the season. So bring it on UP THE POOLS and NEVER SAY DIE.

Is that a statement by you…?….. because in all my 60+ years attending Pools I’ve never been dumb enough or arrogant enough to ever expect Pools to get promotion, hoped but never expected.

I’m claiming no such thing, are you? I’m say things are promising and Hartley so far looks a promising prospect. I certainly wouldn’t describe Lee as ‘shit’, just not up to the mark.

Not been to any pre season games, but spoken to someone who knows what he,s talking about.
And i believe we now have players who can play football, Are strong and fast.
Another striker, CB and Keeper and i think we will be set.

Could be that the scottish lads and those out of non league will see it as a big challenge next season with 46 cup finals to play rather than a journeyman who sees it as just another contract he,s got.
