Darlo legend. Remembering being third in the bath and reading the mail incredulous that we had resigned him in close season for the third time. Nothings really changed if you ask me. Apart from the pitch, the stands, the general quality of the playing staff, the management and coaches, the quality of the merch, the ticket arrangements, the match day experience, the number of fans, the women's team, the floodlights, the seats in the mill house, the stadium name, the digital programme, the tannoy, the toilets, the turnstiles (West Ham?), the live stream. Nowt.

I would like to think that PH was much too astute to sign Toure. I get the impression he goes for lads who put in a shift for the team.

Had his faults (several) but I did enjoy watching him play.

totally correct there, but if PH can or think he can sort his attitude out then i do think there is still a player there. would be his last chance saloon anyway before the bright lights of darlo and banbury beckons.

Toure's goals for us were against National League defences. He left because he wanted to play at a higher level, which is fair enough, but he only managed 2 goals in 39 games for Carlisle in League 2. It's not just a question of his attitude - is he good enough?

Jordan Jones has signed for Kilmarnock, he is a Boro lad, I thought we should have had a look at him ?

Played for us on loan about 4/5 seasons ago. Personally didn’t rate him. Did well at Motherwell and Rangers signed him but seems to have gone down hill since with clubs releasing him quickly.

I cant think of any Pools player who has been judged a success when returning for a second session. The ones who spring to mind are Bob Newton, Keith Houchen and Tommy Miller. Maybe other posters will remember others. As a general rule, in my humble opinion, it is not good to look back when it comes to footballers.

More recent examples would be Gary Liddle and Rhys Oates.

Trouble is, how many players can you keep looking at who might have done a job for us, an awful lot. Nice thought, not practical.
The manager will have his targets.

That is fair comment. Oates turned out to be one the most effective strikers we have ever had. Lidds second time round had transformed himself into a central defender whereas he was a box to box midfielder with an eye for goal first time round. But yeah, he was a success in his new role although towards the end he was showing his age. Thanks for the reminder.

Didn't Liddle start as a central defender for us at which he was excellent?
Then turned into a midfielder at which he was pretty average at best.

I think he would be worth the gamble in the sense that Hartley looks to be a bit of a disciplinarian and demands respect. Challinor already had premeditated ideas on Toure after a bad experience and he wasn’t massively keen after what happened at AFC Fylde so perhaps the writing was on the wall. Notice Gime tailed off when he came in?

He had a good start to life at Carlisle by all accounts, seem to recall him being a key player under Chris Beech and they were top of the league around Christmas time before Covid hit and they tailed off massively. Last season I think he had a serious injury which kept him out of action for a while. He is an exciting player on his day and I’d have no issue with him returning.

My recollection was that he was a midfielder primarily although was able to play in defence if required. As I recall (may be wrong) we intially signed him on loan from Boro and then the deal became permanent (Danny Wilson was manager). He chipped in with goals from midfield. He stayed five or six seasons before going to Notts County.

Liddle's first game for us was at Hereford as left back. I was there.

Yes he was able to play in defence. As I recall, Tony Sweeney did a stint for us at full back though primarily a midfielder.

I recall similar.

Toure would be a good option to bring off the bench. If managed correctly could be a useful player.
