All the usual caveats about stepping up a level but this no.9 looks like he has tons of potential plus he's the right age!

Yep, Scored as few for Wealdstone and by all accounts has a physical presence. Fingers crossed he does a good job. I have a feeling Wealdstone are part timers so he might need time to get fully fit.

they were part timers, but he has played full time for league clubs so i doubt he,ll find full time training a strain. not a carver who had 10 years of part time non league behind him where most were at a lower level than we dropped to.

I saw him play for Charlton's under 23 side a few times, a very strong, quick player with an eye for goal.
He played in the same side as Joe Gomez & they were close friends.
I hope he does as well for you as another player who started at Charlton- Gordon Watson.

Haven't seen him play but the Wealdstone fans seem gutted and believe he got good reviews at Wycombe when he last played League 2, despite getting a serious injury (which later turned out to be nothing he’s definitely not a crock).

This is the kind of signing I want to see Pools make more of. An ambitious player who has performed in the National League and could potentially have high resale value. I'm a fan.

clive.."I saw him play for Charlton's under 23 side a few times, a very strong, quick player with an eye for goal."

..looking at his history in terms of goals did absolutely nowt till last season...then playing for a bottom half NL side suddenly came up with 17 goals out of their total of 51 for the season ...wonder why he had such a miraculous improvement last year.. sctatchinghead

Could be to do with minutes on the pitch. It looks like he played a lot at Ebbsfleet and Torquay but the minutes he actually played are significantly less than the games suggesting he was mostly a sub.

Please do not mention the I word as there will be someone telling us we have signed yet another crock in waiting.

About time we unearthed a diamond striker possibly the last one of any consequence was Malcolm Poskett an out and out goal scorer at the time. Think two of the best signings from non league have to be Sterrry and the young Jack Baldwin. Which others come to mind?

Wonder how the new lad came to be known by hartley. someone he actually knew about or a recommendation via someone in the game or mr.laptop himself. does seem a strange type of signing but has much of a chance to suceed as someone we knew a lot about. lets hope he does well and finds a home up here for a few seasons.

He seems a useful signing and I for one am happy to give him a fair crack of the whip without saying he's done this or that previously.

Well he is a risk but the stats are a League above Carver and he is younger. Doesn't stay long at clubs but maybe just starting to realise his potential. Certainly last season he has shown his best yet and a start to building up an attack again.

Sure to have the motivation and if it is based on stats, there are plenty of clubs doing very well going down that line.

Scored 17 league goals in 43 games last season (0.40 goals per game) in the National league for a team that finished 16th and only scored 51 in total.

Rhys Oates scored 14 in 37 (0.38 goals per game) for us in the same league when we were in the promotion positions for most of the season and scored 66 in total.

If he's as good as Oates was in the promotion season, then we've got a good player.

Jimmy Shoulder, Bobby Veart, Derek Hampton spring to mind as decent signings from below FL

In the video clips he obviously had a good understanding with the lad playing wide right for Wealdstone and kept hitting great balls out to him. Happy days for Sterry if they have the same rapport.

I must say I am getting slightly worried about Sterry's injury issues. For the first six months or so after signing he was an ever present but recently he keeps having these niggles that cause him to miss games. Hopefully he's just going through an unlucky phase and he'll come out the other side fit and strong as ever

you do not need a degree for anything in the same way as players do not need to have served time at an acadamy either. is it a case of the modern way being the best or having these two institutions and making them work no matter what. the last reserve game i went to was at the old leeds road ground where i doubt anyone paid to get in. everyone was a players mate or sat their with note pads and pens including frank worthington who pissed off before it was his round in the bar after the game.

He played most of the 2nd half of last season with a broken rib, which caused a few of his missed games, but i dont think that his current injuries are related to that.
